Got a 83 720 4x4 king cab does the same thing been doing a lotta looking into this these engines have valve adjustment issues even though they should self adjust and have carb issues . I had my valves adjusted and carb rebuilt ran like new for a year but now I’m back in this condition again if you find another answer I would love to see what you find because this gets on my nerves too.
I'm probably too late to answer this but, your catalytic converter is back pressuring your system. When I heard about this possibility i drilled a hole through my catalytic converter on the intake side and my pickup idled beautifully. Because I live in Idaho, I removed it all together and my problems went away!
Back when the video was taken (your not gonna believe this) it was mostly stock. It had a horribly jetted Weber 32/36, long tube header, and no-name muffler. It's since be blown up and rebuilt better. Now I will tell you that it has a camshaft that makes it sound like that naturally. Plus a few other custom things.
I just got a 83 and I'm looking for that sound that you had on yours bro... gonna add the Weber 32/36 first..... so I just need the carb, the camshaft, and sound exhaust tips ? I've got the 2.4L Z motor
Did you check all your vacuum lines? I had tuning issues with my 84 replaced all the vital lines and it runs like a champ with the same 32/36 you've got
Isnt there a sensor on the stock carb that heats up from exhaust temp opening the throttle after a cold start? I think it connects to the metal cove on the original manifold.
I really don't get it? What's so special about these cars? They look like a normal car but with a bed and there's all these videos and stuff on the about how cool they are and all that? Can someone explain to me what's up with them? And it ain't a truck either, trust me
I have an 85 toyota pickup and its a lot of fun to have. Can't pull worth a shit but its an all round good little 4wd pickup for what I need, high value too these things will last forever if you take care of them
I had a supercharged vr6. With nuespeed cat back exhaust system, porsche brakes. Etc. where do i find this exact exhaust system you have ? I really want this sound back again after i sold it.
Custom built. Basically got a complete plug (male and female ends) from an electrical hobby store (I.E Radio Shack), de-pinned the plug that originally came on the radio, de-pinned the plug from the truck, and put the wires in the corresponding holes on the new plug set. Doesn't take long as long as you know what wires go where for your speakers/amp/etc.
Wow, 2009! I missed seeing this one! Nice job on th editing and old Wingless made it in at the end! First event for 2012 in just weeks at llwaco with NWAA. What a nice day that was. Hope your doing well!
HEy ...question....how much do you know about the ignition system of the truck?.....i have an odd issue with mine and cant seem to find any info to help me.
@reconn08 You are correct. To clear things up, I did not remove it to go faster. I wasn't hitting speeds where it mattered. I took it off to shave weight.
I have a 720 and nothing done to yet, but apparently these are cold blooded engines and it takes a little bit to get running right... Some of the smoke has to do with the choke! Nice video
@helenaki8 the aero-dynamic is not better if u remove back door so u cant go faster as the fuel economy wont be better.. It is said and tested and proved. Google it somehow.
1985 was the last year the 720 could be specified with a diesel engine, and even so I'm led to believe it was dropped during the model year (think January 1985).
NissanBoy85 I have a similar truck and I have a quick question...When it idles there is no miss fires but when I'm driving it miss fires. What can it be?
