Syd Waddell Dave lanning and Tony Green were great commentators they actually comentated on the game and Syds patter was brilliant not like today’s pundits i turn them off and just watch the darts .
Darts is solid your more likely to get good at heart surgery than you are at darts, it's so hard to be accurate consistently. No one commenting negatively would even win a leg against Eric bristow. And he backed Phil the power Taylor financially to start him as a pro. so he gave us two of the greatest ever
I love how people talk smack about snooker cues🙄...I'm an American and I own a Omin snooker cue for 8yrs going strong and you couldn't trade me a mucci or any American cue for a snooker...good job Jimmy white with a strong comeback
As an airman in the USAF at RAF Woodbridge, Suffolk, I was fascinated with the sport of darts. And Eric was the man!! 1985-88 in the UK was the best ever! 19 years old...time of yer, kid! And this guy damn near won everything! 😆🙏
@@Phuc_Yhou When I got there, I was housed in what was soon to be the old barracks, because the two big new ones for AGS and EMS were just being finished and about to open. About 2 months or so... along with the new Chow Hall. Do you remember that? Then, in 2014, I went back and they JUST about to tear THOSE buildings down, because Rock Barracks was done. Some RA soldiers at the guard shack even asked if I wanted to go and see them gir the last time!! I should've, but didn't want to impose, plus I was on a tight schedule...
@@David_Watts we were only on the house building site doing the groundworks, foundations, drainage rods etc so didn't work on the main buildings. I made friends with one of the guards who took me to see the SR71 at Mildenhall in his time off, in return I took him to a real ale pub and the art of drinking pints and a kebab chaser 😂
Some odd reason yrs later im seeing this post for first time i wonder why ? Anyhow my fav players one i liked Eric Bristow where back in Fife , Scotland not very many liked him ,not that they knew Eric but i seen he was at it with the mind games Muhammad Ali style i reckon he copied from Ali with his chat lol but it worked for him And i also seen he was a very good darter and i liked him , myself one of not so many back in the day in Scotland when Eric was in his prime I never ever met Eric but i seen the Muhammad Ali in him cheeky crafty cockney lol but he done what he often said won big tournaments , but never met Eric and would have liked to have but i dont go out my way for such things at all . As alls chance and accident Another top darter i met 3 x times once played him in around 1978/9 for some £s in a bar in Fife another time was in 1979 was in Wembleys conference centre at a marlborough tournament and Jock Wilson had called in as just had flown back to London from Usa ..he had heard me buying round drinks at bar and shouted over you a Fifer pal , i looks across and it was Jocky and he came over asking where i was seated and so i point Jocky where and he sat beside me and other 3 men i was with and chatted and had laugh ..my final time with Jocky was in 1986 in a lounge bar in Angus region of Scotland and both alone practicing on board as Jocky had put a longer story short asked ok for throw at board with you mate So no one else in room except bar woman myself and Jocky ..last time i ever seen Jocky was then and watched his match winning 2/0 after guy said he was playing v Jocky and would win v Jocky lol ..silly thing to say v a World champion twice .. I recall like it was yday when both together i asked how he got along with Eric and Jocky said fine that he liked Eric and just a Scotland v England thing where both tried win on oche but got on fine and some banter but liked Eric Bristow. Rip to both them guys and also another 2 greats of game Leighton Rees and Alan Evans and i inc another top darter came sat beside me in Nairn in Scotland Angus Ross and his father came sat at my table in a tournament and yrs after i heard of Angus passing ..Rip to all them guys top players they all were and also to others gone and everyone knows of several in bars up and down the country who could throw a good dart who no longer here with us Rip to them all ..
A sad loss to the darting world, but hopefully if they play darts in Heaven he can have rematches with Jocky Wilson and have the great Sid Waddell commentating.
