Best TV show of all time. It was a drama mixed with a bit of comedy that made it special, along with the cast of characters that were dealing with the hell that was war. Top notch acting to say the least and light years better than anything on the tube today.
Some others we've lost - Timothy Brown (Capt. Oliver Harmon 'Spearchucker' Jones) Died 2020 Roy Goldman (Roy) Died 2009 John Orchard (Capt. 'Ugly John' Black) Died 2009 Marcia Strassman (Nurse Margie Cutler) Died 2014
May their spirits live on in our lives forever through their dedication and hard work throughout their careers. May each and every one of them rest forever in peace.
I played on a record by a songwriter named James Haymer who is Johnny Haymer’s son. James had quite a few really nice stories about his dad. From what I gathered, he was a wonderful man.
Weird doing the death-birth math and going "68, man that's a shame" or "88, hey not too shabby." Kinda puts the fleeting nature of life in perspective.
That game of life is hard to play I'm gonna lose it anyway The losing card I'll someday lay So this is all I have to say Suicide is painless It brings on many changes And I can take or leave it if I please
George Wood was 1 of only 4 actors to appear in both the movie and television series. Gary Burghoff is only one to play the same character in both (although he played Radar slightly different in each adaptation).
I almost offed myself in 2015 when I was 18 while listening to depressing music I came across Suicide is Painless, as I always do i went to the comments and found out a show was tied to the song as I started reading more about MASH I decided to watch it (it was on Netflix at the time). It took me about 2 months to watch the whole show the upbeat nature on parts of the show taught me it’s possible to be happy in any situation and the grim portions taught me that I don’t have it as bad as I thought I did, MASH saved my life in a sense I’ll forever be grateful
Also 3 others who were on mash Marsha strasmen who played Margie Cutler Johnny orchard ugly John and Tim Brown sparechucker Jones I did not know about Alan albras best line by Sidney freedman ladies and gentlemen take my advice take off your pants and slide on the ice
* The cast that have died *so far* Remember, the rest of us are all next *Edit:* Apparently, despite the fact I've been watching MASH most my life on and off, Mclean Stevenson has been dead since I was two He's been dead since before I ever started watching this show Feel old yet Boomer?
- Nothing you say will not make this boomer feel old. Edit: I remember my parents watching the Nixon-Kennedy presidential debates on TV. Remember the Cuban Missile Crisis and watching Neil Armstrong step onto the Moon. Actually met, briefly, thank God, Charles Manson. Just before High School graduation was Kent State. Ask your grandparents. Been around for a while but do not feel old. Well seasoned though. Take care kid. And may you live long enough to get old. I hope I do. As of now, only 70. 😉
My favorite occasionally recurring actor was Alan Arbus. The former husband of photographer Diane Arbus, he devoted much time to cataloging her pictures after her death by suicide. There was little in it for him; he did it because it was the legacy she left for the couple's then-young daughters. The reason we know Diane's groundbreaking work is because of his devotion to her talent. He organized posthumous exhibitions of her photographs while acting to pay the bills. He was a funny, subtle actor whose power was in his quietness. The series would have been far less without his contribution. He was one of the few MASH actors who could hold his own against Alan Alda and trade one-liners on a par with him. .
