:Hard to believe so many of them are gone....but then it only seems like yesterday when I saw it for the first time but it has been 45 years since it started and 34 since it ended....still watch it any time I can. It is still my favorite TV series .
Steven Manchester Nearly fell out of my chair when I saw him as part of the In Memoriam Tribute during last year's SAG Awards, because like you, I hadn't heard of his Passing. Nearly did the same this year when William Christopher was shown. 😢
Jack Soo played a black marketeer in a 1972 episode, and an army general in another, alongside Noriuki Pat Morita. His(Soo's) Barney Miller role was a very dry-witted character indeed.
Further update is in order. Besides David Ogden Stiers (October 31, 1942 - March 3, 2018): RIP to Soon-Tek Oh (five "M*A*S*H" episodes as five different characters) , a.k.a. the voice of Fa Zhou in Disney's "Mulan" and the direct-to-video sequel "Mulan II" (Born: June 29, 1932, Mokpo, South Korea; Died: April 4, 2018, Los Angeles, CA).
William Christopher was NOT in the pilot episode in the role of Mulcahey, he took on the role from about the second or third episode in Series 1, 1972.
On each occasion he had differing roles, one being an official of the North Korean army, another as a South Korean surgeon at a medical aid station. I can't quite remember the other two roles.
I recalled a couple of earlier roles Mako had in the series. In one there was a prisoner exchange at a bridge, Mako was the leader of the North Korean army group that met with Hawkeye, Trapper, Radar and Burns. In another, Mako was a surgeon at a medical aid station, +Luois, you've ptovided the fourth role, leaving only Mako's third appearance in M*A*S*H.
