Respect to this man for showing the limits of the car. I gain nothing from watching a review of a vehicle that sugarcoats everything and does not show what you can and can't get away with. RU-vid could use more authentic car content like this. Thanks
not much capable as priced...indian brand mahindra thar is 15 times cheaper then this defender but as capable as defender...what so crazy about this vehicle..?
Excellent video, I enjoyed it very much, thank you. In fact, I think this is the best commercial for Subaru ever, I want one of those after watching this. Especially after comparing prices to all of the competition out there. BTW, I just moved to Washington state from metro Detroit in Michigan and can't wait to hit the trails. 😊
I have a Discovery 5 and it is almost as capable as the new Defender but more luxurious. I love the capability, and feel it is what the Lexus has finally caught up to. With that said, I feel that the Defender and Discovery are definitely a niche market, but one that is along the lines of having a velvet pneumatic air hammer. Whereas the Lexus, Toyota LC, and Grenadier are just hammers with a bit of soft touch rubber or grips. All are capable, but the Land Rover to me is the essence of get it done with style.
I think the Bison is the better rock crawler and the Raptor is better in the fast stuff, that includes the street. If you want to rat around on the street, the Raptors is quicker and handles much better. You just have to figure out what you want to compromise on including the price.
Yop 80k for an unibody truck, it is a bs they destroyed originality and selling a pricy crap ha-ha Lil'wat kind of off road with a lander frame confirmation, it is simply a unibody car, wasting your 80k🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸😰😰😰
4:10 Do not change the position of the rear wiper blade after the rear door glass has been lifted. Otherwise, the glass will be damaged upon closing, resulting in costly repairs.
I like the way the defender looks. I would like to own one, but they are way too expensive for my taste. If I was to choose one of the three that you mentioned, it would be the Lexus just because of reliability alone.
Great until it isn’t, like a wrangler the forums are littered with unhappy owners. That air suspension will shit itself at some point and that’s expensive to fix
The problem for a serious 4×4 is that to make it more foolproof this One Ten has no real 100% CDL which can be dangerous and annoying when it gets really serious especially going uphill and most brake bias is going to the front. There are some movies of that. It should have a manual and a swaybar connect system. Replacing the rubber air springs or dampers on this new one is extremely expensive as opposed to their first air suspension systems.
At 18.48 and on a big screen everyone can also see on this movie that even in the strongest crawl setting the brake bias is mostly to front because of the not 100% connection front to rear because it stays just a viscous connection and it is not even wet or winter. In professional terms that is a big fault. And no professional should use braking on steep hills but use low gear and engine braking but also then the bias would be to the front when going rearwards uphill but to the rear when going forwards downhill. A tip is lowering the suspension to normal height for more smooth articulation and less height of gravity.
Horrible reliability and even worse customer support. I had a Defender on order, but after spending time on the Defender Facebook group ended up canceling… Tons of people with a lot of issues; engine problems, parts of the body falling off, air suspension issues, many software issues, etc. Oh, and no parts… so good luck getting any of that fixed. And theft is also a major problem which has caused many owners insurance rates to skyrocket. Land Rover is releasing a software update here soon to help with this…
My local SoCal dealer has 23 Grenadiers collecting dust on the dealership lot. My hunch is that customers who pre-ordered didn’t follow through with their purchase due to higher finance rates, poor fuel mileage, life changes, etc.
1st..i agree this Defender looks horrible. 2nd..my neighbor has had multiple Land Rovers in the past 17 years and they have all been unreliable. 3rd..i will never own a hybrid or an electric vehicle. Soo for 80k i would buy an older vehicle and fix it up.
I had a 2017 Discovery with Falken Wild Peaks ans I literal could feel confident in any condition. The space was sophisticated and sleek and it tackled terrain effortlessly. Unfortunately at 90k miles I had a catastrophic engine failure so dumped it. I’m hesitant about another LR PRODUCT but if I try again I’ll get a defender. In the anaconda tires would make that a breeze I think and some Johnson rods
Sounds like there's some terminology overload with "automatic locker". I think of the dumb lockers that are usually spring loaded that are meant to release when turning but lock when under torque going straight. They click if you spin a wheel when the vehicle is up on a lift, confusing mechanics that haven't run into them before. They're one step above just welding the gears of the differential together to make it permanently locked. This one sounds like it's a selectable locker except that it's the vehicle's computer that's turning it on or off instead of the driver. I'd be tempted to call that a selectable locker even if it's not user selectable. They have much better manners than the dumb type of auto-locker.
I'm not sure it's the same, but the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X we just bought is pretty luxury inside and is miles more capable offroad. Obviously on road is a little less good...
Just FYI, the defender with the terrain response II option, you can put the terrain response in "auto". you just press and hold the terrain response button.
Yeah, that's a no for me. Not being able to quickly turn stations in a car that has a BOSE sound system. You would think they would make changing on the fly pretty quick and easy. I would hate to have to go thru that whole process. Every single time. Im just like you. One day, im rocking to Octane/Liquid Metal. next few days, im listening to Flex2k.
the multi use function of the buttons is pretty neat, and if you play mouse and keyboard on certain video games (like DCS Flight Sim) you would probably get used to a button modifying certain controls really quickly.
What a waste of $80000. On a vehicle Sorry, I made a mistake jadget. That depreciates so badly, and it costs so much to up keep And it's perfect for a****** yuppies😊
Defender absolute rubbish mine gave me 15 months of hell rattles turbo problems etc etc sold it back to dealer at a huge loss and bought lc 300 grs what a pleasure Dump your defender
I love this thing, every time I see one on the roads I shout "DEFENDER!" I know it's not an offroad monster, but watching this video, it can do everything that 99% need to get through. I just wish I could afford it.
Looking at all the recent new double turbo iPads on wheels, I bought one of the last true and tried NA V8 GX460, this could be my last car till retirement
Discovery still exists and is doing just fine and is a completly different vehicle. Saying that is like saying the LC300 is a better replacment for the Prado rather than a 60 series, Landrover just did all the changes in one model year not staged over decades.
Great video. Great angle, great settings. You're getting better and better. And the explanation of the vehicle in detail. By the way, nice story about the background and creation of the Grenadier.
