Love the mask approach 😎👏 I’m going for it …!!! How- by holding constant fly line tension under rod tip to 100 control over the end of the fly line from a slow start, to a fast stop in both back and forward casting strokes Where- inside the different readings of the tempo casting forms, my believe to a good casting foundation it’s to coordinate or balance the effort with the tempo. When- the best feeling it’s when I’m at the slowest part of the cast because I have full control of the effort, force or power. Why- because effort/ force or power can only be control from the slowest tempo to properly speed up the learning curve. I use to do the opposite at the beginning. Love your work 🫡 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ no many people it’s ready to change because we might have to admit we were sharing the fundamentals wrongly. Guys, simply be humble and not to judge your selfs too hard and just answer the questions frankly just do your best and share 🤛🏻

Hi Michael. I am Dan’s wife and you could not be more wrong about him. He created his RU-vid channel back in 2020 when life seemed to spin out of control and he wanted to send out some positive vibes into a chaotic world. His goal has never been to portray himself as any kind of expert. The term “casting god” actually made me snort-laugh. He is self taught and his tips about casting are simply things that have worked for him. The phrase “I challenge you to a cast off” is an inside joke between Dan and myself based on a Macklemore song, but I digress. My point is this…Dan is a regular guy with a regular job that is simply trying to inspire more folks to get into fly fishing. Trying to take the “you need to do this” out of it. Dan is also a man who is open to learning new techniques and improving himself and his instruction. The reason he isn’t interacting with you is certainly not out of fear of being outcast or being wrong. It is because of your approach. Lead with love and positivity then see what happens. ❤

I really appreciate your input. Are u aware of the fact that I had a private conversation with dan where I apologised three times and asked him also three times to help the community? Which he ignored. Because I have knowledge that will help people to learn this immensely. I have what dan wants. But it comes at a price. Have u ever seen or met any flycasting instructor who admits that he is wrong? I have research that proves the whole games teachings wrong and I really appreciate your help in this showing me the way to do it. Is love not hate. I didn't call dan out, he did. I will help the community with or without Dan's help. I actually thought we would be a brilliant promoter. If you were in my position: you have incredible important, helpful and meaningful knowledge that u need to spread, what would you do? I ask you kindly with all the respect and love I have for the sport and from the water to watch the next FlyQ episode, coming out tonight. We take it from there. Dan can come to me whenever he can find his determination to truly help the community on a higher level. I teach and learn antifragile fly casting. The current mindset is fragile and I prove that to you in the next episode. And if you have a fly rod I ask you to join the experiment too.

In no way did he belittle other teachers, he’s simply stating that there is more than one way to solve an equation. A very simple concept which expresses itself throughout life, try looking for new ways to cast and you’ll find next to nil. Though his response is drawn out, he’s stating facts alongside his opinion which is how humans have always communicated, haha, simple concept. As to @flyfishdan challenging and then backing down this is the cowardess which plagues the last few generations. Men without honor or integrity aren’t men at all glad he called him out knowing he’d get backlash. Godspeed.

Well I started from E1 after your reply. Can you show/explain what exactly is this loop that is a bad thing or do you explain it somewhere and I've missed it? Overhead casting is bad and everyone should use cool cast and wave spey? Is scandi spey or underhand cast ok? Of course I'll be trying the cool cast tomorrow, wave spey I've been using for few years, saw some video where Klaus Frimor does it. Or is it the fact that when you lift the line for most spey casts you sort of have to get the timing right to make it work. If that, then OPST and their continuous tension skagit cast is already there and Byske cast has been around forever, just reset it as many times you need and cast it out.

@smau990
@smau990 20 дней назад
So you took Joel Turners Mind/Shot IQ lesson and decided to rip off his whole philosophy without understanding even half of it? Fly casting is not a process you can control closed loop entirely. Also I have never heard anyone teach to just swing rod and look at the loop OR that tight loop is only thing that matters. Anyways, you gather feedback while you make a stroke, but you should aim for closed loop setup for open loop stroke, because if you try to do closed loop during the casting stroke, you will screw up the timing, because closed loop process is one where you decide the speed of it. In fly casting in order to keep the rod bent and line in the air, you are not deciding the speed = you're not able to make decision based on feedback in the moment. Semantics maybe but "closed loop is always better than open loop" must be dumbest thing i've heard for a while. Closed loop precursor to open loop process is what flycasting should be.
@coolcaster
@coolcaster 20 дней назад
I transfer knowledge from science into casting because its full of BS. I can closed loop feedback Mt casts most of the time. That's why my casting is much cleaner. You and the rest of flyfishing is looking in the wrong direction. There is real-time feedback to be had in every cast. And one of the reasons why I don't teach you how to yet is that there is no reciprocal exchange coming from people like you. I make the decisions. I can feed me back closed loop during casting. What can u offer me to share the knowledge? To cure the casting panic? Have u seen the other FlyQ episodes? I m not willing to part with my knowledge for free and for some fuckibg fly fish cans who only will claim it was their idea. But , my compliment, you are not too far off with what you are looking at.

At minute 19:23 I completely agree with what you say. After someone starts giving me strong casting recommendations, I feel pressured and my casting gets even worse. Thank you for the video. I just wanted to say that you raise an interesting topic, but so far I don’t see any concrete solutions. I understand that too. I would like someone to listen to your thoughts among matser-instructors. Maybe this requires a different supply of material, in a less aggressive form? I would also like to see how you make long casts with your technique. In any case, thanks for the video.

I am already past that stage. Those so called master instructors are the reason why you find me aggressive. Because they bully me and with a few exceptions, I have the impression that master casting I structure are brain washed uneducated fools. And they can go duck themselves. I lost all my respect and I smoke anyone of the with 2 casts 1 cool cast 2 wave spe And I have a whole gotta more casts in my quiver. Only the other day fly fish dan tried to call me out for a cast off.....after u asked him if wants to include cool casting, the wave spey. The cubicspey and the half spey he must have looked at my casting and then pulled out of the cast off immediately. That's how brave the so called and self proclaimed casting instructors are. Againt my knowledge any master casting instructor appears like a toy. Also would they have to admit that they are wrong Have u ever heard a casting instructor admitting that they are wrong? I heard only myself saying that to me in a form of negative self talk. Because the teachings and industry have negative influence on your mindset and hinder growth as a caster. Say hello to any sliming arrogantsworth master casting instructor and greet them with a double duck you from me.

Rod tip is the best visual gage to detect on how far the caster Master the acceleration to a stop on the actual fly rod, and I watch every single clip, he is able to do that, at 12:42 and 13:30 is the few times I can see the rod tip in the actual clip, the rod tip shows no vibration no recoil, absolutely nothing that tells me he stop the rod in the “traditional”abrupt stop form, to me it looks the caster here is able to absorb and some how -tame - through the tempo any of the negative potential rod blank vibrations or frequencies that most of the fly casters in this platform show the - open loop - concept I understand the toaster analogy and I’m also think the industry can do better by dedicating more time to the casting, there is no much sharing and teaching from them on the fundamentals but definitely I can tell they more interesting in putting more lines that cast better every season 🤑

This industry has absolutely no interest in making people better casters. And also no interest in truly helping them how to become better quick. Because a good caster needs less gear. He can't be scammed into buying new gear constantly.

Hi! I waited for the next video as you recommended. There is still no explanation on how to use close loop control theory applied to improving or learning casting. You also, randomly talk about statistics, science and control theory, with no solid arguments, facts or proof. There is no control theory without a physical understanding of the variables involved in the process, but you are not interested in that, as stated in the video description. Control theory is not an esoteric discipline, is actually very linked to maths and physics. I understand some people might get caught up in the idea of always making a tight loop even if in many situations is not absolutely necessary for presenting a fly correctly, and that can hinder their joi in fishing, and increase their frustration. I also recommend you checking the video in slow motion in the point you talk about roll casting. It is very obvious, you stop the rod in every cast. I believe your approach needs some development and processing to be taught to people. I am not implying that is bad, and if it works for you then it is great. Nice casting in other videos you have uploaded by the way. I will try some of them. Cheers!!
@coolcaster
@coolcaster 22 дня назад
Are you aware that flycasting is 3 dimensional? And that nobody has ever done the maths on a cast? And that it's not relevant for a normal angler? Control theory is about controlling systems. Let me ask you a question: How do you feedback yourself during the cast? Can u tell me that? If yes. Shoot. If not: means you have only open loop control over your casting as you are not getting feedback during the process. If you do get feedback: what is ir? I know the answer to the question. But here is not the place to tell you that. But u can book a casting class anytime through speynergy or buy one of our rods to make it easier for you. Thanks for your understanding
@Nelsoncandas
@Nelsoncandas 21 день назад
@@coolcaster 3 dimensional (even 4 and 5 dimensional...) calculus has been developed hundreds of years ago. As I mentioned in the comment on the other video, there is scientific literature about it. Saying that control theory is about controlling says as much as fly casting is about casting flies. My feedback is my eyes and feel on the rod, according to that I correct my casting if something is odd. Granted that those corrections more often than not are applied on the next cast. I totally understand that ones work doesn't need to be offered for free, but I believe it should be stated that this is some kind of introduction or advertisement for your classes. Then you win, avoiding people telling you all the time that there is no practical explanation, and we win not waiting for that magic bit of information. I have checked the rods, they look great. I like to build my own rods so I might take a look at one of the blanks in the future. Cheers!!
@rangerwhite5165
@rangerwhite5165 23 дня назад
Putting the line on the rod is completely unnecessary. It's down to physics, tighter loops are more efficient at penetrating the air at speed.
@Nelsoncandas
@Nelsoncandas 23 дня назад
Hi, just wanted to clarify one thing from the physics point of view. There are several kinds of energy and transfer mechanisms. Fly casting deals mostly with mechanical energy (kinetic + potential energy). The main transfer mechanism of mechanical energy is work (in a physical meaning as force over a distance), but waves are not related to all energy transfer, in this case the rod as a moving object transfers the energy to the fly line through work. Loops in a fly line are just the result, as a shape, of material properties and geometry of a fly line and the mechanical energy acting in it. I assume you are educated, for the way you talk, there are interesting papers made by physicists and engineers in google scholar just typing fly casting, they have studied the mechanics of fly casting and fly line behaviour, just from a scientific point of view. Cheers!
@coolcaster
@coolcaster 22 дня назад
The question is how we control it. Nobody cares about the physics. Just clarifying. I m talking about the mindset and the loop in flycasting is a conceptional mistake in itself. Have u heard of the science of control theory? Much more valuable to the caster, check out the upcoming FlyQ S1E8 . Open loop vs closed loop control. I win. U can win too.

How does your degree in environmental sciences apply to casting? Correct, it doesn't and there are many well-educated people who cast and teach it. So, it's not a matter of being educated at all, as you falsely state in encompassing fashion. You could have simply chosen to challenge orthodoxy by demonstration, but instead opted to be a pious, insulting ass. And chose to target a man who honorably served his country and had a disproportionate influence in growing this pursuit of fly-fishing, as ambassador. It's baffling that a man of your age hasn't acquired a hint of social graces in what is a rather congenial community. To the degree you've been treated poorly, you probably asked for it.

Michael, I agree with you that there is too much focus on certain mechanical "preferences",which i see more as style than substance. I do firmly disagree with any discounting of the finest work of Paul Arden who i see as the finest teacher in the world. I put you in the category of advancing the sport just as those basketball players did for their sport when they stopped paying attention to coaches teaching the set shot, and the one hand jumper, and began to play the game with a rhythm and feel that advanced the sport to fantastic skills. In some cases we are beginning to see that in fly casting with some of the youtube videos today... but once again, please do the teaching, and show us, and stop with the critics of those dead and alive. Let's see the specifics of what you have to offer to advance the sport. OK, you drapped the flyline over the rod to keep some flyline feet off the water to facitlitate a waterborne cast... fine, but that's not a spectacular advance.. What have you got? We don't need gobbledy gook about control science... give a lesson... I like some of your thoughts,but no need to denigrate others...

I don't understand your hang-up with loops or stopping the rod. Seems to me you were stopping the rod and forming loops yourself as it is difficult not to do when fly casting. How do you NOT stop the rod? Stopping the rod does not have to be the exaggerated stop you showed. No matter how you do it you are forming a loop with every cast, forward or back, good or bad. You did a lot of talking but not much showing so I never really got to understand just what your big problem with conventional casting instruction was other than the vague loops and stopping the rod inferences. I enjoyed viewing your videos more for amusement than education
@coolcaster
@coolcaster Месяц назад
I doubt the loop in itself. It makes flycasters look in the wrong direction and it is senseless as nobody can tell where the loop is coming from, when it starts and ends. Where to measure it's tightness is another uncertainty and if you ask yourself honestly what the loop is good for...you ll find what I say. The loop in itself is BS, my man. Why could Alexander grant outcast us for 100 years without a loop? Because its not there. Made up fake wrap to make you believe u need a new rod or line or both. I only uploaded another episode wherevi talk about that ff is out of control . The loop is a big part of that problem. Because it doesn't help to increase the control over the system at all.

I didn’t understand anything from Michael at first, but also I was stuck for 20 years chasing the instructors hoping that someone would give me the key to a good loop control, yes I got it, but at what price, I didn’t enjoy fishing for 18 years the same way I’m doing it now after leaning more in to the vibration form and not in to a shocking form, remember mastering the acceleration in to a stop is the primary goal to a good LOOP/cast, I think we shock the stop because we can’t control how much it’s too much acceleration we put in the rod blank 🤔when in reality the way I see it, it’s about funneling the rod blank vibrations to the fly line from the tempo not from power or effort they both must form a balance part of the cast but they should never be mixed but go together in order, effort in one side and tempo in the other, tempo helping to tame the vibrations created from the effort or force, they separate, like oil and water they can be contained in the same bottle, but they will never be mixed if we don’t “shock” the bottle, this vibration form concept it’s a better path to control the end of the fly line hands down😊 That’s how I see it now and that’s how I enjoy fly fishing more than ever before… f*** catching 🐟 - 🫶FLY Q Keep up the good work Michael, storm it’s coming !!😎👏🫡
