Very interesting list, though I also prefer to extend the end of classical antiquity to 628 AD.

@@Onezy05 I'm assuming to coincide with Heraclius' victory against the Persians?
@Onezy05
@Onezy05 2 дня назад
@@LeandroCapstick Yeah, that's it. I think that's a better end date as: 1) It marks the end of the Greco-Roman rivalry with Persia that began during the 6th century BC. 2) It ends just before the Arab conquests, which led to the Mediterranean being split in two and caused the Christian economies to contract, upending the old status quo and properly beginning the Middle Ages.

Tell the TRUTH about WWI pilots!!! They COULDN'T FLY everyday from the diarrhea the Caster Oil in the engine exhausts gave them! Every-other day was murder on your guts! Number one cause of death: Not the enemy, but MECHANICAL FAILURE. An ESTIMATED 65% of pilots and air crew (on both sides)!!! The Lafayette Escadrille lost 78% of their aircrews from mechanical failure, which enraged Americans. READ THEIR BOOK! Only ONE of the Original 32 pilots lived to be a US Aviator, and since he was BLACK he wasn't allowed! He joined the Armie de Air (French Air Force) and finished the war with 23 victories, and NEVER returned to the US. "The Black Angel of Death".

These early tanks always have a creepy aesthetic to them compared to modern tanks. I think it’s their crude construction and the context that there was literally no other machine like them, even aircraft were over 10 years old by then so it creates something quite alien in nature.

I might be retarded , but I see a use for extremely simple , 35:26 cheap semi disposable & organic ( environmentally friendly ) aircraft, that can operate from unprepared runways that can loiter for long periods of time behind the front lines to strafe dones & cruise missiles. Also with the potential to launch drones or other missiles. Simple & cheap , resistant against electric warfare , could even use electronic warfare weapons & if running on diesel could potentially even use a wireless ignition. Pilots could even bail out if targeted ( out sourced warnings ) ????

The devastating effectiveness of the sturmovic was facilitated by the Soviet acceptance of ULTRA and the crushing effect on Nazi logistics and movement.Thanks to ULTRA Stalin was right when he said this plane was the life and breath of the Red Army.

I believe the name "flying circus" came from the fact that they frequently moved around by train like a circus NOT because of the paint schemes.
@user-wz9wj8eo8f
@user-wz9wj8eo8f 6 месяцев назад
I have read the name ™Flying Circus" was not due to the various colors of the aircraft but because of the movement of the aircraft by train transportation as was common for circuses.

27:52;The Bristol F2a <pictured>(that came first) wasn't used as a 2 seater fighter using it's high speed and manoeuvrability with the advantage of a rear gunner but were flown like the older slower 2 seaters.This is why when 48 squadron(the first to receive the type) first sent out a 6 aircraft patrol in early 'bloody' April 1917,led by Captain William Leefe-Robinson VC(won the previous year in H.ome D.efence work when he shot down the first Zeppelin on British soil) who had '0' experience of frontline air fighting since being an observer in a BE2c in 1915<air fighting had changed almost unrecognisably>😮only 2 of the 6 returned and one of those was written off. (Vizfeldwebel<Sergeant Major> Sebastian Festner of Manfred Von Richthofen's Jasta 11 shot him down and was himself killed a few days later during 'bloody' April>. Leefe-Robinson's gunner was KIA but 'Leefe' himself became a p.o.w and suffered torture and neglet so much at the hands of his German captors that he died of the Spanish Influenza at home a day after the armistice. The Bristol Fighter F2b was a SUPERLATIVE aircraft and served in the RAF(so from 1st April 1918)until well into the 1920's!

27:42;The SE5/a did NOT have twin machine guns,it had a single Vickers .303 machine gun in the left of the nose and a .303 drum fed Lewis machine gun on the top wing on a sliding Foster mounting and Bowden cable arrangement.

22:00;no you're getting confused there.Boelcke was for the fighter and the changes implemented for it,NOT the 2 seater ground attack aircraft which was a year later at the end of 19'17' by which time Boelcke had already been killed on 28th of October 1916 in a collision with friend and squadronmate Erwin Böhme who was KIA himself a year later as C.O of Jasta 29 when the 2 seater ground attack aircraft were affiliated.

20:18;this is the box art for the 'PROFIPACK' Eduard DH2 model kit(can't recall correctly if it's 1/72 or 1/48 scale-the latter I think)and very nice it is too! It depicts what could be Captain John Oliver Andrews of 24 Squadron under the illustrious Major Lanoe George Hawker- C.ommanding O.fficer. Andrews was A-Flight leader and he shot down and killed Jasta 2 leader Hauptmann(Army Captain)Oswald Boelcke's replacement Oberleutnant(1st Lieutenant("Leftenant")Stefan Kirmaier who was flying an Albatros Dii.Kirmaier was no slouch. The vanquished pictured is an Albatros Ciii 2 seater.

19:59;Yes the Nieuport 11 'bébé' as pictured here with the Floridian Seminole Native American Indian head of N124 on the side! (N because they were equipped with Nieuport fighters!Later with SPAD's it was named S....)who later became the 'Escadrille Americane'/Squadron American. Americans of the period(many of German and/or German Jewish extraction) complained to their 'government' that as America wasn't in the war officially it was unfair to fight the poor Germans with a French squadron named 'Americane' so it was changed to the 'Lafayette' Escadrille as possibly insulting their British 'allies' was deemed more appropriate!😆 AS IT WAS HONESTLY,DO NOT BULLSHIT PEOPLE EVEN IF IT DOESN'TMAKE YOUR COUNTRY OR THE PEOPLE LIVING IN IT AT THE TIME LOOK TOO GOOD!😇👍🏻

18:58;ERM!!!!! I think you're forgetting Edward Corringham 'Mick' Mannock with 61 'official' kills with about at least 12 more(73), moreover 2 seaters, that he disabled to allow younger pilots to have an easier first kill to improve their confidence and abilities!This was noted and witnessed by numerous fliers who flew with Mannock from 40sq(in Nieuports),74&85 in SE5a's until he was KIA alongside surviving neophyte Kiwi Don Inglis on 26/7/1918. Read 74 Squadrons James Ira 'Taffy' Jones's bio of his friend Mick,undoubtedly Britains best airman and flight leader as he brought youngsters on and didn't seem to be just blowing his own trumpet like René Paul Fonck ww2 Nazi collaborator or Bullshitting Billy Bishop.
