In this video I take you through the development of the Tank throughout the first World War / Great War / WW1.
This video was made before I started studying history at University and uses poor methodology. Much of it heavily references Wikipedia. This video is not a reliable source of historical information.

These early tanks always have a creepy aesthetic to them compared to modern tanks. I think it’s their crude construction and the context that there was literally no other machine like them, even aircraft were over 10 years old by then so it creates something quite alien in nature.

unbelievable that you could hear the fighting at the somme in london. It must’ve been unbearably loud on the battlefield.

Glad you said that. The first day of the Somme was warm and dry, it only got muddy later in the battle, which ended in November 1916

30kg of gear is a crazy amount for storming a trench they would of been better off going in dressed like Ned Kelly I would of liked to see that.

I’m pretty sure my great grandpa was in the Somme he survived I’m pretty sure.

Three tanks actually made it through one of them happen to be called Dracula anyway they were the last of the three the last of the 32 tanks to go in anyway they were the three last ones and they backed out fortunately made it but they went into the village and clean house and back out anyway

Imagine carrying all that shit on you when your only goal is to move fast and kill every living thing opposing you. No wonder so many people died. I heard some even drowned in mud pits during battles at Pashendale.
