This channel contains an archive of videos I found helpful in trying to understand the world. The purpose of the archive is to assist people in their effort to develop an independent mind.
"The stock-jobbers will become the praetorian band of the government, at once its tools and its tyrants, bribed by its largesse, and overawing it by clamors and combinations. Substituting the motive of private interest in place of public duty, leading to a real domination of the few under an apparent domination of the many." - James Madison
"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." - Benito Mussolini
"The engineering of consent is the very essence of the democratic process..." - Edward Bernays
"Do I know you well enough to call you fellow plunderers?" - Ray Anderson, chairman of Interface Inc
"Education is a system of imposed ignorance." - Noam Chomsky
"For we have come into the world to work together." - Marcus Aurelius
Is there any more naïve people, so naïve to believe that NATO is bombing someone to help people and democracy? Only inters and money, that's the reason. Every war is fight for money, oil...etc.
At 1:30:50 Chomsky refers to a woman named Elizabeth something Wolfe and refers to her work, but I can’t make it out rewind it at several times Does anyone know what and who he’s talking about?
This is one of the most important statements in world history. Too few will hear it. But those who can distill the critical messages within this 'missal' of truth are privileged to have done so. I listened to this on CD 20 years ago and have listened and relistened ever since. It never ceases to impress me in its profound perception of the insidious role played by corporate propaganda in the 20th century..and beyond. I met Chomsky and even discussed banking issues with him in 2012. It was a very interesting encounter.
One of the key ideas is the idea of Buddha - The world is full of suffering. While this documentary implicates the US in a sense, Buddha will never say that. He will say that the desire and attachment is the cause of suffering. It is impossible to live in a world where suffering isn't there. If it were not US, it would be other empire. Earlier, it was the Mongol empire, Greek Empire, British Empire etc. So, raising fingers at these operations by CIA etc. really misses the point. The key point is that - such tendencies/behavior/actions which are criticised here - are quite intrinsic to the human mind. They have always been a part of it. That is how humans have established a "homo sapien empire" throughout the planet. Killing scores of other animals and other species. Now the key idea is - if you despise such behaviours/actions/tendencies etc. - it is an intrinsic fight - not extrinsic. That is, if you really care about stopping violence, inequality etc. - first you have to realize that you cannot stop it in the outside world. Ever! It cannot and will not happen. The only place it can ever happen is your own mind (the mind of an individual). The world is ever going to be like this. Ever and Forever. Now Buddha gives two options: Aim for a good worldly life, or aim to get out of the worldliness. To aim for a good worldly life, you need to accord with the principle of well intentioned actions. To aim to get out of the worldliness - you need to see the endlessness of desires - and as a result renounce it. And you are free. Choice is on individual - bad worldly life, good worldly life and no worldly life. And you can mean good and help people and not mistreat people and try to argue or fight for their rights or stuff like that. But it will never ever mean that there will cease to be human pursuit of power and control. That is what you think is right, will not become the truth of the world. You can however, what you think as right, make that your own truth and just your own truth.
The Great Dr. Michael Parenti, read him and organize. Although he is a Marxist, you can learn from him. Then Look to the philosophy of No Gods, No Masters, and Mutual Aid!!!
Mike Parenti's research is always so helpful because I lived the before and after of Reagan and the Media would sometimes refer to Reagan as _"the Teflon President_ (because no Scandal would stick to him)" when in fact, it WAS the media that let Reagan slip through their fingers time and again. Why? Because Reaganomics enriched the owners of media. Reagan strengthened the power of the ruling class. Their power had been watered down by a strong Middle Class after FDR reformed and strengthened government regulations of especially Banks (regulation became a word that Actor Reagan made taboo to the public that had benefited from it). So again; remembering who the owners were, note this -> 50:30 .
You know I recently was viewing viewing a reddit thread which was claiming Chomsky is a genocide denier and examples were Cambodia and Russia (2020). Listening to this Chomsky destroys both some 40 years back.
Noam Chomsky seems to have a we vs them approach when it comes to the Zeitgeist of the last few centuries but humans have been living in oppressive structures for millennia. Any form of human organisation has been oppressive or even if it might have been equalitarian at some point it lead to an oppressive dictatorial system the more complex societies had become, which begs the question . . WHY?
@@Mimiskydives_ a perfectly valid statement conceptually that seems impossible to manifest experientially unless one resorts to drugs or is truck by lightning on a clear sky day. What you say is what I was pointing towards however as a culmination of life's manifestation it seems that we might well be on our way to self destruction rather than the realisation that our own mortality is only fictional interpretation of our memory driven entity which is a slave of culture without which we can't survive. 1 like in 6 month says a lot. People don't like to stare the truth in the face. It hurts their ego. Their drive towards immortality predisposes them to seeks solutions that safeguard their future which is time / imagination / ego.
Chomsky mentions both good and bad propaganda... The 'good' kind, as in education or business, is still a sort of brainwashing. He's so brilliantly fast here that I need to read his books just to catch up with myself. Fantastic mind!
