ESCAPE NORMAL. It's exactly what our small family did. Over 5 YEARS and 15,000 MILES AGO, we sold everything and moved aboard a 46' sailboat to travel the world! Now it's about to get ELECTRIC! We are Loren, Eric, 8-year-old Rivers Danger, and trusty boat dog Zeke, and we're about to embark on our biggest adventures yet, converting our 30-year old Privilege 482 catamaran, Ophelia, to ELECTRIC PROPULSION before crossing the mighty ATLANTIC OCEAN. We've run tracks all over the Caribbean, Bahamas, and up to the US and back, but it's time to explore the other side of the world. We have a lot of work to do to reach that dream. Join us EVERY SUNDAY for life aboard SV Ophelia - at sail, at anchor, the good, the bad, and everything in between as we do whatever we must to keep things afloat - literally and figuratively. SUBSCRIBE NOW and RING THE BELL so you don't miss a single episode. Cheers and WELCOME ABOARD!
welcome to the EUC family. @chasingparadigms we are transitioning to being a sailing/EUC channel as we currently are upgrading our boat. We own a kingsong 14s, kingsong 16x, begode 18, and my newer wheel veteran Sherman-s. it takes a couple hours to unlearn walking and trust the wheel to automate catching you from falling and not stepping. Its the closest thing to flying a human can currently achieve. My suggestion being on boat is shorten your range for weight savings but get a real wheel with suspension. I will never own a wheel without suspension unless its a mini wheel like the one you tested or Begode A2. I am 212lbs on my sherman-s and set it to toe up at 32 mph even though it can go way faster. We are now shopping for boat wheels as my sherman-s with 3,600WH battery is to heavy for boat life and the battery life is far more than I can ride in a couple days. Many suspension wheels exist now and your best use case for boat life is under 2,500 WH battery down to 1,400 battery. The lower end of the two might be ideal for learning, cost and recognizing what you don't know. Its good you started without suspension to teach you to keep your knees bent as this is still important on suspension wheels. Watching you guys from the start, thanks for sharing your lives. check our channel, it will be changing soon we hope.
Well Done skipper! Your *shade* project was a Nice Addition to the boat, & seemed to be Appreciated by your squeeze. 🙏🦉 ⛵ RIVERS BABY! How ya doin' mon frere‽
Man…I truly feel sorry for you if making senseless comments like that are what keeps you going. But thanks for watching! I hope things get better for you.
Woohoo! You've been converted Eric! I still look for an EUC (electric unicycle) but haven't pulled the trigger. That has to be easier to get on and off the boat.
Yeah I REALLY wanna try a bigger one. Not quite as much utility as a scooter since you can’t sit a big ol bag of groceries on it, but WAY easier to transport.
Hi guys! You did the knock off EVA foam off amazon if i remember right. How long has it been installed now? And how is it holding up? Would you install it again? We are building a 48 foot sailboat, and were considering this stuff for the decks.
Hey, thanks for watching. NO! Would definitely not use it again. Already in pretty bad shape. We’re planning to upgrade to PE/EVA as made by Seadek and TopDek. It’s about $275 per sheet instead of $75 but holds up really well. They use it on a lot of new sailboats.
Need to give credit to someone who showed how to do the four point and finish sewing on all ends. Love the one you are with. More good to see good things.
Love you guys! What I most appreciate about Eric sewing your new shades is that he's thumbing his nose at gender norms and your lil guy is around to witness it. Blessed be. ❤
Well done. I taught my wife to sew, but i do most of it if needed. My mother and grandma were seamstresses. So must have been in my blood. Lol, but it was probably doing home economics lessons at school because I thought it would be a bludge(slang for a good way to waist some time). May have inadvertently learnt something. 😅
You can turn your hand to anything. I can hand sew mum tought me, But saw her sew her finger to something on a machine sister kicking off. Mum looked away deed was done. The only time my mum ever smacked any of us. I will never use a sewing machine.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I considered that. Only problem is they'd then only be tied to themselves and therefor hanging from the zipper instead of the roll being snugged up under the edge of the canopy.
So you call a galley correctly but don't know why yet call the heads a bathroom which is easy to find out! Think figure head on a old ship! And it's called a galley because It comes from the fact that there was a stove with baffles in it called a gallery furnace in many ships. It was there for the purpose of heating the interior of the ship originally. People very quickly figured out you could cook on the surface of it
Yeah, I forget...I think maybe the "head" used to literally be a room with a hole that was all the way forward in the the bow or "head" of the ship. So they'd say they were "going to the head" and it stuck...something like that.
