I get to live my childhood dream every day! This is my passion and I hope that shows in everything I do and say. I believe that dogs are the greatest creatures on the planet. I have both a male and female yorkie. They both have their own special personalities. My girl yorkie is 13 and will be 14 this November. I never had any issues with potty training her. She always did her business outside. If she ever had an accident inside, it generally was my fault or she got sick. She's such a pocky eater. She's my best companion. Because of her age, she's going blind and deaf. My boy is full of energy and likes following me all around the house. He's not the easiest to potty train, so I started crate training him. I just adopted him and he's a 1.5 years old. He loves peeing in the house and pooping outside. So frustrating. He loves jumping up on me and gives me kisses all over. I'm hoping neutering will help with some of his peeing indoors. Love your yorkie, regardless of the sex.
I have 2 Yorkies. Piper: she'll be 2 on August 05th Dash: He just turned on 2 March 26th We had 3 Yorkies. Trixie: she was almost 12 but sadly passed away after a Pitbull got under our fence on May 10th, 2024. She was the SWEETEST, kindest, well behaved, well trained, therapy dog.a mom could ever ask for. Piper is definitely the bully While Dash is the joker who loves to play.
if introduced as a puppy - the dog will take the lead from your cats. The cats tend to me in charge of any dog/cat relationship. We have cats and our dogs don't care, they don't bother the cats and the cats don't care about the dogs either. It is all about introducing the dog to the cats young.
All my male Yorkies had attitudes. I still have bite marks on my door when leaving because Eddie didn't want me to go places without him. Anthony didn't want to be groomed and had a big smile on his face meaning he was going into bite mode.
Hey Heather, I watched your video the other day about male verses female Berners. You definitely are spot on. My first Berner was a male and calm and gentle as could be. My current Berner us a female and she is a terrorist, LOL. She spends her day beating up my 100lb Golden, counter surfing, and tearing apart anything she can. But, she is one fantastic pup and I wouldn't have it any other way. Another well known breeder said she like hers mischievous. That is our gal. Thanks for the videos and promoting this incredible breed.
My mum had a spaniel that would smile big time. My late Berner didn't smile but was happy every single day of his life - and he never have a bad bone in him. The most lovely dog I've ever lived with.
You are spot on! Had a male for 15 years. Smartest, sweetest little guy ever! Now have two females, one bought and one rescue. Our first is so sweet, smart and mellow. Bindi is our love. She is loving to all but as far as she is concerned, my husband hung the moon and stars. Our rescue Missy is a full of fun, always on, will play fetch until she drops kind of girl. She has attached herself to me, so they definitely choose their person. We love them dearly and wouldn’t have anything else.🤗👍👍
heather, thanks for the video. What formula do you use for the BMD pups? Some are 30% protein and 20% fat and that seems so high calorie for a growing large breed pup. When and what do you switch to for maintenance? Thank you:)
OMG You are so right I have a female Yorkie who's 1 yrs old and yes so sassy & and gets very jealous when I'm talking on the phone or if someone comes over & I'm talking to people she will keep barking until I hold her she always wants my attention if I leave her sight she goes crazy cries and barks until she sees me Yorkie's get very attached to their owner I never had a male but Selena is my 3rd Yorkie my first was Nikki she passed away from bladder cancer @ 18 yrs old & my 2nd Yorkie Chloe passed away @ 12 from heart tumor now I have Selena I love her so much I am attached to her just like shes attached to me I'm 62 yrs old and lost my husband I'm a widow and this beautiful girl is my life she saved me
I have had 3 Yorkies over 20 years, 1 girl, 2 boys. My girl was sassy, hyper at 1st, very sweet loved everyone, all animals. Likes laps. Loved to kiss us to death, but we could not kiss her more than about 3 times straight, she would nip our face, loved to bark, peed everywhere.. My 1st boy, so mellow, never barked at anyone, even if someone broke in would not bark, never lifted his leg/or marked, easy to potty train, loved to cuddle all the time, super sweet..lived only 4 yrs. :( My boy I have right now is 10 months old, came from the same breeder as my other boy,he is simular to my boy that passed,loves to cuddle, SUPER sweet, loves our young cat, doesn't mark/lift his leg,potty trained within days, he barks a bit,not much. Have loved all 3,all my babys, my best friends. I think the boys are def more easy going for sure. Yorkies are the best!! All were fixed young.
Yes! My grandmother had a female Yorkie Silky Terrier. She was a horror! Her attitude was what female dogs are called, referred to. B!/)$&. Her Attitude was my grandmother was the Queen, she was the Princess decked out in her high end real leather coats etc. and the rest of of us were peasants. Don’t come near her or especially my grandmother. Access denied 😊
I had a lovely Bernese Mountain dog male, but lost him to cancer..to me, they are the sweetest dogs you can have- great with kids and families, and incredibly loyal..unfortunately, they have a short life span and are very susceptible to cancer
Just found your channel! My husband and I recently adopted a Burmese Mountain puppy from the local humane society. He is the most amazing dog I've ever had. You are so spot on about the loyalty in males. We've had a couple of times where he ran outside without being secured to his leash or lead and he didn't run anywhere. I just called him and he came back to me. I think he thinks I'm his mom <3
I think female dogs in general seem more aloof because they have that motherly instinct where they have to make sure of their surroundings for food and safety. Also females can roam more freely because males do not get territorial with them whereas males with other males can be dangerously territorial. Anyhow loved your video. your fondness for these furry creatures really shines through ! :D

You are my hero, and a F1 B Reverse Bernedoodle breeding rockstar. I am going to sign up for the waiting list but can't figure out what to do if I am only interest in the F1 B Reverses because my temperament, like the glimpse I have of yours, seems to be a soulmate to the Bernese Mountain dog in every way expect the lifespan. I recently discovered the hard way that I suck at loss. See you on the waiting list.
I have a female. Shes as lovey and cuddly as a lap dog but man is she stubborn. Sweet and happy all the time but everything is done on her time. Most friendly and happy dog i have ever had and i adore her ❤️ what a really fantastic family friendly breed.
I Appreciate how passionate you get on this subject and you come across as frank on this matter to the general audience because you really care about their well being. If locally we come across Barf food from a nutritionist, and they argue that their food mix is well balanced and enriched, are there any comments if they affect genetics, fertility, temperament, etc? Sorry if my wording is not correct, English is my second lenguaj
Food effects everything. But it could cause a dog to not feel good causing temperament/personality changes, it 100% effects fertility. It will effect how much waste is produced and can effect just overall health and well being - just like us. It does not effect genetics that I know of - but a poor quality food could not fully support a growing puppy leading to issues, like poor joints. Good food is the best thing you can do for your dog.

I just lost my berner girl 2 days ago, she was the most loving affectionate dog I’ve ever owned, so much more than a dog to me, I’ve never had a bond with anything dog or human like i did with her, from the time i picked her up and for the next 8 years she never left my side , I’ve been crying nonstop for the last 2 days, i don’t think I’ll ever get another dog again as i can’t see me ever loving something the way i did her!
You might enjoy one of the forest cats for a replacement. They're very doggo style cats & kinda similar to bmd's personality too! (maine coon, norwegian FC, siberian FC) they even swim. also they live a lot longer with few vet bills on average.
