I'm glad I thought about watching videos about hair extensions. So yesterday my son asked me to cut his hair, after a couple of years letting it grow. I cut about fourteen inches and his hair is still shoulder length. Anyhow, this is so cool, I'm going to make my own hair extensions from my son's hair! How cool is that?!!! Thank you for sharing this video!
This is amazing. I wish I had a sewing machine. You should do a video for those “messy bun” look ponytails or real hair hair clips 😂 I hope you know what I mean. That would be fun.
Haha, you cut your hair and gasped that it's so short now, and I keep complaining that my hair is too long and it is half the length you cut yours to.😂 Seriously though Nice video. I've Been toying with the idea of growing mine simply to harvest and do this with it😂
Thanks a lot for this great instruction video. I would never wear wigs or hair extensions from human hair other than my own because hair contains DNA and I find it creepy. However, I was able to make weft from my own hair following your instructions. I cut my hair before my 1st chemo session and since I love my hair I was not ready to part with it. This allows me to continue to look my natural me. I attached the wefts to a headband and all I have to chage is my hat.
Bright white, and creamy lace mermaid cut skirt (high cut in front long in back ) would look cute too. With long cloves White on top cream on bottoms of gloves
This is brilliantly done, my dear! Just the perfect combination of info and video. Making wefts of my daughter's gorgeous hair for her to use when she wants long hair again! Women pay extravagant prices for real hair wigs, so don't listen to those children who think its gross! 😉
I wouldn't donate hair. Last I checked the charities are chock full of donated hair. What they actually need is money for running the operation and wigmakers to make the usable hair into wigs. Unless your hair is actually great quality and long, and/or a rarer colour naturally, they can't even really make a buck by selling your donation. And I know my hair isn't nearly long and god quality enough to make that cut, so unless they're short on my specific colour, my donation would just waste their time and resources and inflate their garbage disposal fees.
Beautiful! Thank you so much for this video! :) I initially thought I would bury my hair and give it back to the earth when I chopped off my hair months ago. I ended up feeling too lazy to dig up a place and bury and just never got around to it. The idea of sewing myself hair extensions with my own hair came to mind as there are days where I want long hair. So, I did a quick search and found this. This is perfect and looks super easy, thanks! :)
This is exactly the video I’ve been looking for. I’ve saved 3 ponytails that I cut off over the years with the idea that I might want to do this someday (especially cause I have such fine hair). Now I might actually try and do something with them!
I’ve been sitting here googling to try to find out how to make extensions out of my hair. I have a biracial little one who wants my long blonde Elsa hair.. not wants hair “like” mine, she literally said Yaya i want your hair on my head. She’s going to get that wish. 😂 my hair is almost to my waist now so o just need to make sure somebody gets it to the right shade of frozen before i chop it off for my sweet Coco.
I have 3 questions: Do you need a "heavy duty" sewing machine? Where do you buy double needles? What stitch are you using? Edit: Also, would it be better to, if you have long hair and are wanting this to add volume or, say, a clip-in fringe/bangs, would you fold the hair in half and do the stitching in the middle? Or is better how you're doing it to maximise the length?
You do not need a heavy duty sewing machine, thats just the one I had. The link to double needles is in the description. I just bought them off amazon. The machine settings are: Zig-Zag stitch, 7-8 tension, 2 width, 0.5 length. If you want to add volume or make bangs go ahead and try folding it in half!
Im to Cosplay Team Minato with my friends and I'm gonna be Rin nohara so this video is great i really needed it i don't know sewing but my mom does so maybe i could show her this! Thanks this is helpful!!
awesome vid! i thought it was weird/gross at first when I saw those vids for collecting fallen hair, until you realize wtf is the diff between getting the real-hair extensions (ie the more expensive and 'better' ones, not to mention if you look into that whole real hair industry it's really sh*tty and exploitative; as for donating for cancer, turns out most of those orgs toss out most samples or sell them, so there goes that). but yeah, the actual weird part is: why are we grossed out by our own hair? lol i dunno but i was, too, but like with most things u just get used to it/desensitized and now I'm no longer grossed out and have been attempting to collect it on pieces of tape (my bf is still grossed out tho lol).
