Just purchased. Thank You BTW for introducing me to the TONEX pack you had on sale. I don't play out anymore, and was having trouble finding good tones with TONEX, but with your pack, I now see how to use TONEX and get good sounds. I can't begin to understand how much time and effort went into all the amps and presets you made. It's staggering! You have my complete respect. Going to use these NAM's on the iPad as there is a program out now (GigFast) that allows for loading them in iOS. Thanks again and as before, customer for life. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
@@Danzan-of3yy i tend to have them kinda low. Everything depends on a guitar, but usually when i am using app and i Play really hard, input level goes to around 50-60%. I setup trim to make it sound similar to app later (i will check my pedal settings after the weekend) :) Thanks!
@@galtonestudio Purchased. I've enjoyed the presets I got on Tonocracy so hey...Thank YOU! for what you've done/continue to do for people like me who would never be able to play with this type of gear. I am thankful for your generosity. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
@@galtonestudio SHAAZAAM! Yeah Babay! These are EXCELLENT! Now I have to spend $100 on MacOS and $150 on iOS :) First World Problem. Thank YOU for the sale! I never would have started back with TONEX if not for your Sale and Video. Much Appreciated! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Of course it works on app :) Just make sure to have a full version (at least LE), because free (CS) has a limit of 20 tone model downloads. You can try one of the presets from this pack though - 'Modern Van Halen' (just type in @galtonestudio in tonenet search in app) and add plate reverb. Regards!
Thanks for the free presets man, I’ve also purchased your previous presets and they sound very good. Happy with the tones. I was wondering, is there a way to use midi controller with the NAM plugin?
Thanks a lot! :) I think there's a way to do it in reaper - i'm not sure about standalone, but I'd check NAM facebook group, if there's a way the will help you out for sure. Here's a reaper tutorial :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YtrQLjxTWOs.html
@@galtonestudio No worries man, if u find out anything then plz make a RU-vid video. I think it will be really helpful for most of the people. But I guess they don’t offer midi controller as a standalone. That would have been cool though. Cheers :)
I'm doing something wrong. Everytime I use NAM or Tonocracy or TONEX (yeah I know not same ecosystem) they sound reaallly muddy. Love your work Sir and have some of your sims on Tonocracy already. Bought the Starter Pack. Already subscribed. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
@@galtonestudio Let me look at how your NAM is configured in this video and I'll see if I can figure it out. If not, will ask :) Thank You for offering :) Best Regards and Best Wishes!
@@hanovergreen4091 Sure :) Basically I'm using an instrumental input of EVO 8 (before that I was using RME fireface the same way but i had to move studio to smaller place so I sold it). Apart from that if you're not running your audio interface super hot and use instrumental input, everything should be fine :) I tested it on Focusrite and a few other interfaces with the same results, so everything should sound the same on studio monitors/headphones. Cheers!
@@galtonestudio Hey Boss. Got it working in BlueCat Axiom. Digging the SLO100 and Dumble, Recto and Petrucci. Thank You so much for the freebies and the $10 pack. Great little spread of sounds there. Using with JHS Pedal pack (free) and NAM in Axiom. Look forward to next pack. Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Thank you for this video! I just purchased the ToneX 1. Having used a Line 6 HX Stomp for about 6 years. It took some education to get used to the ToneX app. Your video helped. I interfaced the ToneX thru my HX loop. The capture models available sound incredible. Still learning
For everyone saying "real amps kick ToneX ass" : I disagree. At least in regards to recorded and PA live sound. To me, they're so damn close you'd NEVER be able to tell the difference unless someone told you. Now, standing in a rehearsal space, a real amp and cab is going to literally feel different. It will move more air than most FRFRs. You'll actually feel it shake your chest and move hair on your legs. It will be louder. But, again, once both are miked (or DIed) through a PA, you'd never know the difference. And for a very, very, very small fraction of the price. Just my humble opinion.
@@dasfette thanks a lot for a comment, you are not alone :) I did +1000 profiles for Kemper/ToneX and it is obvious, you can get the same tone as as miced Amp/Cab. For the last 5 years i was Fortunate enough to have a regular studio with live and Control room so comparing miced cab and simulation was very easy. And well... They were always pretty much the same. Even in null tests it was so close that NO ONE would notice. But let's be honest, how many people recorded their tube amps even Once in a studio? Or played outside of their home on bigger stage? Not too many. So they are comparing what they know to miced tones which sound "digital" because they can't compare that to anything :)
@@galtonestudio 100% agree! And appreciate the thorough response. Keep doing what you're doing, BTW. Your Fender Blues Junior pack is one of my absolute favorite Tonex captures out there. And congrats on your Mayer pack just living atop the most liked for the last few months. Well deserved!
What I haven't figured out it how to use the TONEX One as an audio interface to edit presets in the software because the TONEX One pedal gets stacked w/ whatever the software is doing. If I want to mute the pedal I can put it into stomp mode and have it bypass. If I want to mute the software I'm at a loss... I have no idea how to do this.
GREAT Video! I want to use the Tonex One Pedal live, and be able to load different amps into the pedal by the Tonex iOS app on my iPhone. Is all I need to do is buy a Apple Lightning Connector to USB-C cable, and I can then load different presets into the Tonex One Pedal?
Thanks for the videos! I love the tones I get from my Tonex1 - but the way the software works, and how it routs audio in "real time" is a HUGE limitation. Basically, there is NO WAY AT ALL to put the Tonex1 pedal into true bypass mode to enable real-time editing. You can't use the Tonex1 as just a simple audio interface. How stupid is that??? I ended up doing what you did in option 1, otherwise, the Tonex1 pedal and the software are BOTH active at the same time, and you get your model, twice! It's such a bad software interface, honestly.... For something that sounds so good, and is not cheap, the Tonex software is appalling.
This tutorial video is a true lifesaver for initial Tonex One users. This was my first pedal that required computer interface and the IK folks have done a really poor job of providing any sort of helpful context and a simple video like yours as a "jump-start". THANK YOU!! I was starting to feel very much like @benspeeds with his colorful comment added a month ago, and I am no stranger to computers or software, having spent 43 years in an engineering field -- enough time to be confident when judging this product documentation as NOT being user friendly. I was seriously considering returning this product until I watched your video. Well done.
@@leventopoulos i totally get it :) Once you get used to it it is actually very easy and quite logical (compared to older versions), but starting is insanely infuriating for many people.
@@galtonestudio It's strange that the hardware and the sound part of the software are so great, and the GUI is so unpractical! Your video helped a lot by the way!
For me, it is the worst collection of terribly documented software that I have seen in 43 years of working with computers in an engineering field. Truly abysmal, IK. If not for THIS TUTORIAL VIDEO, I would be returning your product to Sweetwater.
I’ve been a software developer for 20 years and I was stunned when I realised how this works. The experience is totally ass backwards. I have the Helix, the Bias FX and eventide H9 software (Bluetooth iOS app) and they all are way ahead of Tonex user experience. It also feels like bloatware to use (same as Bias FX) very slow to start, c’mon guys..
Hello again. So when the pedal isn’t plugged into the computer I cannot browse the 20 presets?. When using the pedal only I have a choice between 3 slots?
It looks like you typically can chose the A/B mode (2 slots) or stomp mode (on/off, one slot), except that this video shows a clever trick I was unaware of, that lets you access three slots instead of 2. I saw another video where they showed a somewhat cumbersome way to select from the 20 presets that can be stored in the Tonex One, but there is no display other than the colors of the 3 micro knobs to indicate what you are selecting -- that and your ears. So you would need to use some clever combination of the colors you assign to various patches, or a clever ordering of the 20 memory slots, as a mnemonic device, to help you find what you want. However, this procedure is a bit time consuming -- slower than simply stomping the foot switch.
I'm not certain yet, but this may be helpful: Once you download and install the Tonex SE software, you will find an icon in the upper right corner of the main display window (3 parallel, horizontal lines). When you click this, the pop-up window that appears has an "Audio Settings" tab that has options which appear to control these settings. I believe you can select "the right options" (whichever these are), then plug your guitar into your Tonex, and (hopefully), the sound will then come out of your PC speakers. Use good monitor speakers for better results. Good luck, and please reply back here if you find this to work for you, so others will know my guess is correct.
You can't do that in tonex. You need to use Amplitube 5, or 2 tonex VST instances in DAW (one for pedal, one for Amp/cab) in order to use stomp with Amp. The only way is to use it with hardware is to have a profile that is an Amp and pedal capture.
Hi. I have this pedal arriving tomorrow, is it simply just plug it into my pc and I'm good to go or have I got to download or install stuff on my pc for the pedal to work. Thanks in advance
Hello! You need to register to IK multimedia, download IK product manager and proceed with the video :) I said update (for existing tonex users like myself - my mistake), basically you have to install ToneX LE (version of tonex that you'll get with tonex one). Apart from that everything should work exactly the same. I'll pin this comment just in case anyone would have the same problem. Cheers!
@@galtonestudio so once the pedal arrives, I plug it into my pc. And it will have on my screen instructions on what to install/download etc, Is that right?
@@galtonestudio As I just posted in my comment, this video is a "must watch" tutorial, as the IK folks seem to not provide anything remotely helpful like this. I did find a link in the Product Manager's "Help" section called "Video Tutorial" and another called "FAQ" But when I click these -- NOTHING HAPPENS AT ALL. So. I have a very low opinion of IK's documentation at the present time. The TONEX ONE PRODUCT, however, seems very capable. Thanks for providing a video that helped me get things working -- at least to the point where I can start to use it -- load/edit/change preset choices, etc. Without your video, I would be soon returning the Tonex One to the vendor.
It is not in a pack, but i am currently modding one of my Marshall amps with hose mod, so it should be available in 2,3 months. Probably the closest tones are in my ultimate 80s and van halen packs. Cheers!
The harshness in the pickups has a lot to do with the tone pot being bypassed at 10. You have to move it to 9 for it to be routed within the chain and it makes a big difference. I like having the option to go bright though!
Hello! Basically if you're using it on ipad, the only way is to use a ToneX app here (not the pedal). I made a video about that a while ago. A couple of things: - You need an audio interface that works with ipad --> irig or something similar. - You can't import TXP files into iPad. Only use tonenet tones or ik multimedia partner collections. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-knFLhwOs3gw.html
@@galtonestudio that’s incredibly annoying. Iv literally just purchased a tonexone so that i can download my presets on to it. So basically i need a mac/pc to use my tonex one pedal?
@@thisisme4858 Yeah unluckily IK sucks at user experience. It's worth it though, I ditched my kemper for tonex, but it has a steep learning curve. Yes - you need to use PC. You can also watch that video. To be honest it's the best workaround for not - use app to create tones that you like, edit them and then transfer them to tonex one. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1vqOskKdR-U.html
I went to the sight this leads you to and got Metallica presets and leads presets I also got some from Daniel Kramer who also review the Valeton and has a metal preset pack nicely done
Some profiles on tonenet don't have cabs (Direct profiles) which may be the case but it is hard to tell. I will probably make another video about cabs/irs, maybe it will be helpful:)
