SUGi Pocket Forests build biodiversity, climate resilience and wellbeing within communities.
Since launching in May 2019, we have created over 200 forests in 42 cities, on 6 continents. Together with our expert Miyawaki Forest Makers, we contribute to ’Nature positive cities’ for a healthier planted.
Our signature strategy for creating green infrastructure and reimagining the urban experience is based on the proven Miyawaki Method of planting ultra-dense, biodiverse forests of native species only.

I checked your RU-vid channel and found that the content is very nice. But due to some problem, your channel views and subscriptions are not increasing. I can be helping your channel Monetization.
Super excited to discover this organization. I'm doing a presentation for Citizens' Climate Lobby on "Healthy Forests". Let's double the number of pocket forests every year!
I'd like to get the ball rolling on something like this down south. Anyone else know about any schools, churches, temples, city parks, regional parks, etc. that are doing this in Chula Vista, California or San Diego county, in general? Or does anyone have any contact with those types of leaders that would have the land to do this?
Besides the planting spacing and diversity of native species, what other specific differences are there in planting the Miyawaki style? Are there extra considerations for soil prep or watering schedules?
Soil prep is a big part of the Miyawaki Method. Minimal watering is required within the first stages. Here's an article where we explain it step by step: www.sugiproject.com/blog/the-miyawaki-method-step-by-step
Heartwarming, these such refreshing revelations so reinforces today's message, 'have Faith, God is with you'. Amidst current despairs and inequality, this light is 'hope'. Praise God, Amen.
Globally we have had overemphsized capitalism and it has lead the whole world in crisis after crisis for Centuries now. @@SUGiProject This Yakama project by an almost extinct tribal group displays to us the crucial importance of being able to believe that we must have a balance between the basic fundamentals and the fast transitions of the new. The Yakama approach is not unique because right now there are many more Globally implementing such to improve the world for it's people. The fact that this is within the US and incorporates foreign tech and knowledge augurs well for Global cooperations. This is where Yakama age old faith provides hope and exudes love for our whole world.
There's a stretch of abandoned railroad tracks and bridge in NYC that people began planting on. Eventually the railroad discovered it, but gave them permission to keep growing there. 🚃🌳🌲
😊 It's very heartening indeed to see people being a part of the solution instead of the problem. I'm in the high desert of Arizona in North America and I am using techniques and trees to help the environment.
Absolutely inspirational. I’m reforesting our 10 acre property in Kyogle, NSW and I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your story. I’m with you, enough talk and pick up a shovel! Well done and keep up the amazing work. We need more people like you! Alex 💚🌿
I love the statement of being a gatherer. Means a lot to me in perfect timing. I do everything I can to understand, get out of my own way at times, while conscientiously taken stance. The timing along my 2023 destruction to renewal cycling is exquisite as I’m muddied up prepping Salmon enriched beds for the about to be planted Quaking Aspen Grove. From her wealth of seeds, nourishing, protecting, holding awe, her gift to having lived 14 years with the lone mother, now will be carried on though she is severely girdled all up and down her trunk by so many Palliate families supported long before my time. My hope, , my prayers, down in the dirt my own feeder roots increase strength and connections to be sustained. In deepest gratitude. Yakama Nation Forever! May I do right by this 11.77 acres of Brighterside Hide-A-Way until my life is done and it is returned. Onto the knowns and unknowns. Another tide to ride. ❤️🙏❤️
Hello :) I live in a temperate area of Italy. I've got a piece of land and I mean to plant trees. I'd really like to know if the forest in this video has grown as planned. Is it possible to get information? 🙏
Hello CecilIa, thanks for your comment. You can discover more on our website as well as growth reports from all our forests. This is a link to the Koswik Law forest at the moment it's 12 months old: www.sugiproject.com/projects/koswik-law
Love it! I live in London, and we started to do the same here - at schools and any other land we can get our hands on ... which is not easy. It's so great to see that these Miyawaki forests are starting to get planted around the globe. Lots of love and thanks for the good work you do, Claudia
