I switched from Fuji to Sony in 2019, so I have no idea what might be causing this. But I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with it, and I hope you'll find a fix. I would take it to a dealer or service center and have them check the lens.

@@jurajbottlik694 ​I switched because between 2016 and 2019, I had 1983 camera lockups/freezes. During shoots, the camera would just stop working, even though the EVF/back screen was active, and the camera seemed to be on and working. But nothing worked. You couldn't even turn it off, but had to remove the battery, wait a couple of seconds, then restart everything. But then all settings where reset, and that's a big problem during especially studio shoots. I even lost two commercial clients because of these problems. I talked to Fujifilm so many times about it, logged and reported all the lockups, and also tested several other camera bodies and models (X-T2, X-T3, X-H1, GFX) without that solving anything. I even sat in meetings with Fujifilm, and showed them how to trigger this. They admitted that this was indeed a problem, but they never bothered trying to fix it. So in the end, I had no choice but to switch to something that worked.

The matte box on this particular rig is a SmallRig Mini Matte Box Pro (#3680).

Hey Jennifer! I stopped shooting with Fuji cameras almost 4 years ago, so I don't remember if those two settings are the same. I see in my video that the camera menu said "usb auto", but the online manual says "usb tether shooting auto". Maybe this was changed in firmware upgrades after I made the video... Have you tried selecting "usb tether shooting auto", and does it work with that setting? Cheers, Eivind

I use f/8 when scanning film.

I didn’t have time to compare it with my other lenses (all Sony; mostly GM), but I did some takes where my nine year old daughter ran towards me, and the AF kept her in perfect focus. The AF seems to be a bit slower than my Sony lenses, but I think that’s just fine for video, especially with rack focus. Even if I set the AF speed and sensitivity at max, it still wasn’t too aggressive I think.

@ I wanted to say that the speed at which the images appear on lightroom is super long it's not instantaneous, I hope that with the updates of lightroom and the current tethering plugin it's going faster

Ah, ok, now i get it. Lightroom has always been very slow and sluggish, and has grown over the years an gotten slower too, so tethering is painfully slow with it.

Yeah, at some point Fuji upgraded to much better buttons. But on the earlier X-T1 versions, the buttons were so flat and unresponsive that you could just as well have drawn the buttons with a felt-tip pen on the camera body… At least the Sugru made you feel them. Cheers!

Hi Marcel! Not exactly sure what you mean. Tethering is exactly the same with or without studio flash. The tethering is just about transferring the files directly to your software, and the interval between shots or your lightsource shouldn’t really affect anything, except if you shoot so fast your flashes can’t keep up.

Hi Edvind, The studio flash needs some seconds to be ready for the next photo! There is a interval timer in the plug in but you cannot them use together. I think that we have to wait for an update or perhaps you know a solution? Thanks for the quick answer. Marcel.

Yeah, choosing lenses isn't always easy, so I feel your "pain". But from what you're saying, it sounds like a smart business decision going for the 80 over the 90. Both deliver great image results, but the close up capabilities of the 80 probably makes it the better choice for shooting food. Happy shopping! :) Cheers, Eivind

Back in those days, Adobe only had one Lightroom version (if I remember correctly). I think they split it up in Classic/CC later that year. So I used the most up to date LR version available at the time I recorded it. Cheers, Eivind

Yeah. I loved that lens for quite some time, but I think they may have pushed it as far as it’s possible. That lens is pretty old tech, so not much more to work with I guess.

When you connect the camera to the computer and turn it on, you should be able to access the menus of the X Acquire software. But, make sure you have set up your camera correctly like I show at 4:50 in the video. Let me know if it still doesn’t work. Cheers, Eivind

Thanks, so glad you found the video helpful! To get the picture to display large automatically as it comes in, just select one of the thumbnail images first manually (to display it large). Then it should continue showing new ones big too. Make sure the menu «Camera - Auto Select New Capture» is set to «When ready». No, the smartphone app doesn’t work together with tethering. No, this is just for photography. Do you need to view the video on a bigger monitor, or do you want to record straight to the computer?

And I want to be able to use my laptop because it's so portable and I don't have a lot of space (and don't want to invest in another monitor). Tried to use my phone as a monitor using the Camera Remote app but it's horrible and glitchy. Keeps freezing and disconnecting. Hoping there is a way to work this out!

The cheapest and easiest way would probably to get something like the Feelworld F6 Plus monitor and an HDMI cable. Pretty cheap, and works great. I use it with my Sony cameras.

For the programs I mainly use (Photoshop, Capture One and DaVinci Resolve), I think 16GB ram is an absolute minimum. I have tried the Surface Book with 8GB (a loaner device), but it was a pain in the .... to get anything working smooth.

Hi Lance! A bit difficult to say since I don't know anything about the setup/situation, and the hunting could be caused by several things like the lighting, colors/contrast, camera model and settings etc. But using the focus limiter can often help a bit as well. Have you experienced this in other situations as well? Cheers, Eivind

@@Lakefilms Ahhh, a newborn... That's it! Switch to a frantic and überhappy dog the next time, and you'll be just fine. lol! Hard to say why the lens was hunting though. When I used to shoot Fuji, I usually chose the 90 over the 80, but as far as I can remember, the 80 did have pretty good AF performance. I also used it on the X-T3 (and X-T2).

You need a usb cable that fits into the port on the X-T2 (I don’t remember what type of plug it is, but I think this is the one: www.tethertools.com/camera/fuji-x-t2/) and the other end must fit into the usb port if your computer. Tether Tools is a manufacturer of usb cables for tethering (check their website), and a right angle cable is just a cable that doesn’t stick straight out of the camera body, but is angled downward. The process of what software etc you need is explained in the videos. For instance, X Acquire is not a fully fledged program for tethering, it’s only for saving the files to a folder on your computer. So if you want more control over the tethering process, you need either Capture One or Lightroom. The paid version of Capture One now has built-in tethering for Fujifilm by the way, so if you have the full/paid version of Capture One, you don’t need X Acquire. Hope that helps! Cheers, Eivind
