I dont get why everyone is so depressed over the ending. The ending litterally shows their souls reincarnated meeting together again just as they promised they would before they died... to meet again on eath and always be together. Not only that but they meet under the tree that grew up where zero two's body had turned to stone then crumbled. How could it be so drepressing for people that their souls litterally kept their promise to one another? Maybe its because im older then the majority of the possible viewers on this channel but i find it beautiful.

I think the goat Director is Naoko Yamada. I look to the masterpiece of liz and the blue bird and that first 3 minutes of the 2 girls walking without words. It’s jaw dropping.
Pure cell animation stopped being made around 1990. Ultimately its all an aesthetic choice. Relatively recent stuff like Ruben Brant and Red Turtle are both CG, but you couldnt tell by looking at them, and so were Treasure Planet, and Princess Mononoke.
I would perhaps not go as far as to say AtLA is the best serialised media of all time, because then it is suddenly in competition with things like Babylon 5, or The Sopranos, and I honestly dont think, for all of its emotional maturity and depth it quiet edges out high concept television with a primary adult audience. But it is certainly the best animated series of all time, because there its primary competiton is things like Monster and LoGH which it handily outperforms in therms of visual style, and matches in terms of story and theming, or FMAB and Cowboy Bebop, which it outdoes with a more coherent theme, better cast, and more porpousful linear narrative.
Zoro was butchered. I think Mackenyu is a very good actor but golly, they messed him up but you didnt address the BIGGEST issue for me I would have been okay with him being "edgy" but he was always characterized by his will and determination. There are huge moments in the anime that prove this that were all cut out. Zoro cuts himself vs Cabaji to prove that little wounds like that would never stop him. Later , despite the grave wound from Mihawk, he pushes on and defeats Hachi. I honestly dont get how they could even fathom cutting these 2 fights out. Its wild. They dont even have the wound bothering Zoro that much. Then his backstory. They missed the entire point. Zoro goes full blown PSYCHO MODE in his training after Kuina dies. They not only failed to convey that but they cut almost all of it out. I also really disliked Luffy as a character imo. Even tho hes a big fan, i really dont think Matt Owens carried a very deep understanding of these characters
i dont like this style so i didnt like the opening but the best of the worse in this style is Naruto Shippuden - Opening 16 the opening flaw is that it has some dull filler scenes in it but over all good fkn opening
Damn. I've never really thought abt the symbolism behind the dusk representing Roger's era ending and the dawn representing Luffy's beginning. That adds somuch to the scene.
something i love about what i have seen of their work in one piece, and just animation as a whole, is that the most jaw dropping moments of animation for me are not these grand spectacles of insane choreography and battle, but the little micromovements. the little head tilt, minor hesitation, slight breathing, all the tiny bits are just incredible! i love me a good explosion or a barrage of punches, but the way to really get me, are with little tiny micromovements that can tell you more about the personality of a character far more than a full book ever could.
9:59 Yeah, that's what annoys me with mainstream stories the most. It's only about getting the a relationship (every romantic comedy). In most anime, the relationship never really starts (Naruto I guess). A story usually ends once they get into a relationship. Or the relationship breaks apart again (Korra S2). Or the relationship is portrayed as rather negative/annoying (Dragonball). Or the relationship just fades into background (Big Bang Theory). And when it comes to sex, it's usually not shown, or it's porn (MT hits a good middle ground there, just like Katawa Shoujo, which is a little more pornographic). And when they talk about sex in popular media, it's usually just a joke. It's never about real intimacy and trust. And they never show the consequences of sex like pregnancy and raising children. Another story, which mostly is about a positive relationship is the Haven game. I can really recommend it. It's also a story which takes place AFTER their adventure is basically over.
2:45 I'm still not sure what fanservice is exactly. Is it just showing female nudity? Because I thought, it's showing exaggregated sexualized content without purpose, especially when the source material didn't have it. And using the latter definition, MT (almost?) doesn't have any fanservice. 3:40 Yeah, at least I'm not annoyed when these scenes happen. In other anime, it's always so annoying, when somebody "accidentally" grabs boobs or sees somebody naked, and then gets punched. But in MT it's just different.
Nah,as a teen and who are 20(this October)-i don't even think those kids anime make me cry or those really moving "movie" relatable thing,even like forest gump,not even kids anime,like pretty series,heroes anime,or pretty cure,i mean it doesn't even have any bad scene and for so far,as from the beginning of futari wa(the two of us are precure-or pretty cure)-are ,like, they're not bad,they are actually for kids at the first place,that is the purpose of those anime,they created anime like dragon ball or those fairy tales series or precure,they are for kids-it doesn't matter if it's made by toei or any anime production-period.
imo, the anime is SO masterpiecefully amazing because Bocchi's introverted perspective was so well-portrayed thanks to the passionate and creative animation team, but moreover, it relates SO well with me as an introvert, the slurry speech, the times i have no idea what to say, the times i got complimented, and the times i want to shine in front of everyone,... I'm sure other introverts can relate to that too, maybe they just don't want to comment 😂
It’s me I CARED. I dub it the forgotten era, Brother Bea,r Treasure Planet, The Emperor’s New Groove. Yzma being voiced by Ertha f***king Kitt. That time was special and my nostalgia is forgotten by Disney it’s not The Lion King or Frozen. It’s movies that were apparently the swan song for big budget 2d animation in the west. I’ve gone to anime to keep that alive, and while I have nothing against 3D animation Luca and Coco are lovely. The personal stories that make me think, are no longer Disney.
You mentioned "adventure time" as a show that "kinda" meets the criteria. Gotta disagree, but I'm not being antagonistic towards you; from the art style to the animation, that show is positively boring to watch. When I think of "western animation", call it nostalgia because no one can think deeper than the surface, I think shows like the Kids WB line up I remember with Batman, Superman, Animaniacs. Even Fox Kids shows like Cyber 6 which were fun and serious when they needed to be. I would like to see more cartoons in THAT style, not this bright, flat, generic style with those deadpan expressions. If I want a comedy cartoon, I want Looney Toons style with the impossible jaw drop when something horrible is coming. I tried to watch that show Cup Head on Netflix, and while the art hits the mark...it falls into the same modern cheap look and style with how the characters interact. Can't watch it... Guess I just don't understand this modern world...sucks too because I'm still young.
9:15 Yeah, difficult question why people dislike Rudeus so much specifically. Maybe because he's more relatable, so people identify with him and realize they have some of these traits as well. But people want to feel like they are good people and are not willing to accept their "bad" thoughts? It's likely that it's related to the realism to me.
7:05 Finally somebody says it! The current western mainstream seems to go in the direction of "If he's a good guy, he has to fulfill all moral standards of western society. So MC or basically all characters on the good side shouldn't be a racist, sexist, homophobe, pervert, pedo, transphobe, fatphobe, abusive, etc. For example they removed the sexism from Sokka in the Avatar live action. It wasn't even like a strong and serious view. It was just part of his personality, and his views often proved to be wrong. And sometimes people are even annoyed when the bad guys have some of these traits. But being the bad guy also makes some traits more acceptalbe, which seems reasonable. It's just a different view on things, which might or might not be valid, some people might agree, more probably won't. People are different, and this also means, that some people have different values. And not everybody is good enough to act on their values, or have conflicting values.
I think "pay-off" is the keyword here. But at the same time I feel like the show starting so "slow" was a good thing, because it meant we got the time to establish our main characters and explore them, before adding in more characters and making the whole thing more complex. Don't get me wrong, I love complexity. But it takes time to do it well. And it is not like we didn't have many characters to elaborate. I would argue that introducing Toph and Azula only in Season 2 was smart, because it means we have the time to really get to know Sokka, Katara, Aang and Zuko first.
