Amico ho guardato con piacere questo video su questo bel sony,e ti dico che sei molto capace,in tutto l'arco di restauro dei registratori, sei in gamba.ottimo video
Arrrrg, Sony plastic overmolding and unnecessarily proprietary engineering, all designed to a failure coefficient quota, even back then. I think Hanspeter's tapes are very good, a slight difference in shell thickness, insertion force, the recorded frequency, and a million other things, all effect the phase. You did a fine job bringing this one back to life.
I'm starting to realize that the HPR azimuth tape is more than good enough for my purposes. If I align every machine in my collection to the same tape, they're all going to play each other's recordings well enough. Really though, I can't believe this particular TC-K75 came out sounding like THAT. It wasn't supposed to be this good!
@@OklawolfDefinitely yes, aligning everything in the stable to one azimuth reference is good, I wish it worked with levels too. The older machines can be a big surprise sometimes, I wish they were as modular as the later ones though. I’ve enjoyed your walkabout videos quite a lot, these are all towns I could easily live in, but for the absence of mountains.
I'm really glad you got this machine working so well considering the state it was in. You're truly amazing at these vintage deck restorations. 😁I wish I had your abilities with this stuff but with my low vision and anxiety disorder, there's only so far that I can go with servicing so watching you preform these intricate repairs is pretty mind blowing for me.
Well, my 5911u stopped fast forward and rewinding, causing a grinding noise, then it powers off. Thought it might be the gears, so following your guide to use a tape to slide the tray back, only to discover my gears don't unscrew like yours. But now... that tray won't slide back into place. I guess I'm taking it into the shop. Luckily Vancouver still has a repair guy. Got him to service my 7800u last year.
Hi Wolf: nice colors and prairie sounds, this ghost hamlet had an orange painted Pioneer elevator in 1990, never had a hotel, but, did have the usual general store and s few other businesses back in the day. NE of here is Scottsburgh, which still had an elevator in 1983. Neidpath is about nine miles North, the Pool elevator was destroyed around 1983 and the other two more or less stand. It's great that you do videos of hamlets as old structures are often burned down like at Eskbank, Handsworth, Hampton and Dummer.
When modern music is nothing more than 40,000 randomly bad tracks streaming from the cloud, the compilation tape is a concept that is lost on this generation, and with it, the idea of an album. They have no idea what a pleasure they've missed out on.
Rick Beato had a long rant on his channel about this not long ago. When music is available for pennies on the dollar and can be accessed at any time, it just cheapens the whole experience. Back in the day I couldn't afford records or cassettes and could barely afford a blank tape. So every single song had to mean something. Unfortunately now that I've started doing it again I'm finding myself scouring eBay for good chrome blanks again, which are at absolute ripoff prices.
@@Oklawolf I would make Christmas compilation albums for my family every year, songs that meant something to me personally, and others for that special girl, or a particular mood I may have been in. Sometimes, probably often, an entire LP would be purchased just for the one track I'd want to include. Records were kept pristine, and only used for recording to tape. Many hours spent calculating track lengths so as to fill up each side all the way to the end. These compilation albums had value beyond just the music, they were composed like an opera with a story to tell. Today's music isn't worth the effort, I'm thrilled to see you doing it on your channel!
@asbcustom Just a quick mention - I got the TC-K75 finished after a week of fighting it and I can now confirm that my HPR azimuth tape is indeed not accurate. I had to ballpark this deck with that tape and then dial the phase in the rest of the way using your Tascam recording. So I'm going to need to find a better azimuth tape. It's not very far off, but far enough to irritate me.
*The R802 is a resistor and integrated fuse*. I had the same problem - it blew, but I wired in a 200mA fuse in case it blew again. You need to do what I did - see my blogger pages.
@@Oklawolf I've only replaced R802 with a 200mA fuse (in holder), but in theory it would be best to add a 33 ohm resistor in series. (was the original 27?, I can't recall). The purpose of which is this - when an unintentional and transient current surge is active, the 33 ohm resistor will provide a near instantaneous voltage drop so the relevant transistor is not subjected to any high voltage. The transistor is saved during this moment.
Original resistor is 27 ohm half watt in all versions of this transport (K55, K61, K65), current resistor is 39 ohm 1 watt. I'm not seeing too much need to modify the circuit, so it's likely getting the factory correct part as soon as I have an excuse to order more parts. It seems to really like the 39 ohm resistor as well, but I'm not sure I want to leave it as a 1 watt part.
Been a tech for decades. One of the mistakes I still make is not checking passives in a power supply with a regulation fault. Check your passives, preferably out of circuit, or at least lift the component leg, or look for a massive voltage drop across it when powered up in circuit. That said, pretty good diagnosis in the end.....
Excellent instructions. this worked perfectly for my RX-V677. I had to try different screwdrivers for some reason but one finally worked. As you correctly demonstrate, there is no need to keep holding the screwdriver once the No Model Info is shown, as some other videos have done. Saved at least an $80 tech inspection.
It was mainly used to store grain to be transported by rail, though some farmers now own them for private use in areas where the tracks have been pulled up. In that case, there's no rail service anymore so the stored grain is transported by truck to the big modern concrete elevators around the province.
you see where its says "XDR" on the tape ? i have several "XDR" tapes all giving me the same issues , not a single deck plays these , single or dual capstan decks from various brands. i took the take out of the welded case and transferred to a TDK case, a Maxell case and a BASF case. still would not play. cleaned the tape itself front to back with IPA 99.9% , still nothing , i baked the tape , still nothing . what i finally did was lube the tape with dry teflon , that worked wonders and now the tape plays again its not the case, its the tape material loosing its lubrication and starts sticking to itself , and all "XDR" tapes seem to start doing this after e "few" years (30 or so)
I can’t believe you got that old thing going again! It was my main source of entertainment as a teenager since we didn’t have TV! ❤ that old cabinet stereo!
@@Oklawolf Yes! That would be an amazing action camera. Too bad Autel dropped out of the consumer market, they could’ve considered making one to compete against dji’s osmo action series.
The build quality and design of these Bose devices is impressive, that's why they cost so much! Congratulations on the video and success to the channel. Hugs from Brazil.
