Wonderful interview. I am buying the LP and the CD. Mel is a legend. What he said about “sticking together” is so true. I think he’s referring to keeping Derek and Mick in the band. Jim screwed up!… just found your channel. Bravo and I subscribed! 👍
Including videos for Marie Fredriksson out of Roxette. Per Gessle out of Roxette. Roxette themselves and also Gyllene Tider. He actually started his career with Marie Fredriksson if I recall.
@@popthehistorymakers Yeah I realised and was going to put that but got carried away in it and forgot at the end. I of course apologise. Chemo brain isn't any fun. :-)
This is a lovely interview where Steve seems to really respond to you. I loved hearing about his childhood and his parents, especially his mother. It’s a lot like therapy!
I remember my dad coming home with Happy Nation album when I was 10, he was telling me and my sister how he bought it mostly because how much he hated Swedish music journalists and that they tried to make it shameful to listen to Abba and Roxette the same way. Anyway we listened to it on repeat over and over again.
Dear Peter Straker. I was amazed when I first heard he was playing in hair musical on Kondon stage. What a marvollous ecperience. Secon time was when I heard he was close friend of darling Freddie Mercury. Third time , that I was amazed by Mer Straker was in his part with The Alan Parsons Project🩵🩵RIP dear man
WHEN I FIRST SAW LIKE A PRAYER IN DVD I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY NIKKI's POWERFUL VOICE WHICH WAS WAY BETTER VOCALLLY THAN MADONNA!! AMAZED AS WELL WITH THEIR DANCING SKILLS ESP IN MADONNA's CONCERTS !!!
Ace of Base is not anywhere close to “middle of the road”, and this is coming from the documentary director that rushed through their story and kept it surface level with a lot of shit we already knew. And Beautiful Life and Cruel Summer from their 2nd album were big hits in the US, what is wrong with this dude?
Do watch the whole interview, it’s quite a revelation: TOYAH; The Rise & Legacy; Hour-Long Candid Interview with the ENDURING ICON of POP CULTURE ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-os1YxH3uUNA.html
Thx for listening. Love his unfiltered storytelling. Try Man Parrish, there’s a long interview with him which will give you an impression of NYC during that period instead of London - there’s a few with Manny, it’s the longest one you should try!
one of the best interveiws ive heard. fascinating. steve is one of the most inspiring creatives around, and its always a pleasure when he shares his knowledge and experience.
Fantastic interview. Enhanced an even greater love for The Church & Steve Kilbey. Looking forward to the gig @ The Palais, Melbourne, Nov 2024. Much appreciated Steve & Steve.
It's funny SK and you talking about Pharaoh. I loved that track as soon as I heard it. It's easy to imagine the film it would take place in with that dash of Kilbey Dylanesque chronological confusion.
Question about something Steve mentioned. Who was it on the Philipines package tour that preferred building ships to making music? Was it Peter Coyne from Lotus Eaters or a member of Flock Of Seagulls? Les Patterson from the Bunnymen builds boats - was he there playing bass?
To be honest the interviews I’ve done with Steve have been total highlights. Check out this one if you have time. Rediscovering Brilliance: Steve Kilbey's 80s Masterpiece with The Church ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4oSKP1CMaJg.html
The song-within-a-song in "Summer Night City" to me is the melancholic folk tune that is the B-theme. It becomes obvious when you hear it with the slow intro. It's amazing.
Albert Hammond SINGER SONGWRITER. He wrote the songs - from Whitney, to Diana Ross, to Tina Turner ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tm-ytrNSX7U.html🎉🎉🎉
Ive never had a leading train. Just a wrek and pieces whos to blame. Its come down the family train line. I will break the curse in time. I have to be my own wheels on my own track. Im the only one who has had my back. I dont blame them for not healing . They had no idea gow to do the cleansing..i forgive them for all the wrong turns. In this life not everyone learns. I see the track clearly my selection Im laying the sleepers in my own direction ...
Always been a fan Mel, your right up there, always remember Jim crediting you as the Mike Tyson of drumers on stage at Cardiff stadium back in 1987, keep it going mate. loving the album...
I am 60 years old and I still listen to your music. Your music was the utmost. I still listened to the tracks today when I listened to it. I remember the good old days when music was music and the disco ruled. Thank you, and your band. God bless you guys and girls. ❤🙏
So happy to see this interview. I have been documenting gay bar history for several years and will be interviewing David Maurici this weekend. #ilovegaybars #GayBarchives #gayhistory
