"You're here for a good time, not a long time"- one of two great Colins. We also love the other one, with lightness, simplicate and hookers... Oh, wait..😁
hi matt, you worked on the bmw 114i quite a lot, quick question, what is at fault if my passenger heater works, but my driver side doesn't? it just blows cold air? I don't have dual air conditioning. The aircon levels are good and don't need refilling
Good morning, following a centralization problem on my front left bmw f20 door, I changed the electronic lock. centralization works again but manual opening/closing (with the key) no longer works. Do you know where it could come from? THANKS
99% that something went wrong with the plastic part that goes between the key barrel and the locking actuator. It's te hardest part to put back together, after doing this 4-5 times now I still haven't found an easy way to do it...
Hi bro, it's been 1 day since I installed stage 1 mhd on my BMW 114i 2014 (N13). And I think I have problems with the mechanical gearbox, when I start from zero it smells burnt and the gears are lost when I'm in one. as if the box was disconnected for a few seconds. Have you had any similar problems after reprogramming? my box is manual 6
@@betounivazo3452 OEM spec clutch is OK, it holds up to 400 Nm as far as I know, so it's more than enough. You will also need to schange the flywheel, it dual mass and if the clutch is bad, it will be bad too. I have 2 videos on how we did it on my car, so vive them a look 😉

Hi I have a cooper r50, do you know if I will need a remap if I fit a sports manifold and sports cat? I currently have just a catback exhaust and pod filter
What did you use to get the T30 bolt out on the exhaust side please? I'm struggling to find a combination of attachments to get in there and provide enough purchase to undo it. Might have to take the turbo off at this rate! Edit: thanks for the video by the way, was very helpful!
Just a 1/4 ratchet and extentions, we managed to get a combo on which is just few mm away from the turbo, undo the bolt and then once it starts goingremove it rest of the way by hand and only the t30 bit. That's if I remember corectly, it's been a while since then 😅
@@mattwillow7 thanks for the reply. I managed to snap a T30 insert going in at an awkward angle so I'm trying to bodge something better together. They really didn't design this to be easily removed 🤪
Can you please help, I have a 2015 435i, I am not able to fit the plastic pin inside, Even If I do it according to what you have shown, there is some gap on the ball joint which is not fitting. How to fit that ?
Unfortunately, I can't help you much because I still haven't found a better way. Did another one few months ago and fiddled with it for 15-20 min before getting it in..
Hey Matt. Nice job the car is looking and sounding awesome. I’ve just picked up an R53 and I’d like to swap my steering wheel. Can you do a video on how to remove and install the hub etc? Which steering wheel did you go with and does it happen to be a quick connect/disconnect?
Hey, to change the steering wheel first disconnect the battery or you'll risk getting the airbag light on. To remove the wheel you need to undo the airbag, there are 2 bolts on the back of the wheel ( T25 or T30, don't remember exactly ). After you remove the airbag all you need to do is unplug horn and airbag from the column, undo the wheel bolt ( socket 16 )but don't remove it completely, grab the wheel and start pulling it while moving it a bit side to side. Sometimes wheel can be stuck and when you start pulling it it let's go suddenly, so you keep the bolt on not to knock yourself out. When it starts going, undo the bolt completely and take the wheel of.
Hello, the intercooler from 135i can be fitted to 114i, mounting is the same and it's around 35% bigger in volume. We made a video about that ( 125i intercooler, but it's basically the same ) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sPBTaSuF00w.htmlsi=0zAWtv9wgdVKfmcu
They are stretch ( torque to yield ) bolts so shouldn't be reused. I did reuse them, didn't do them to the spec, but "by feel", so I wouldn't recomend that
The 1z/ahu engine are a great engine and very tunable. I've done this conversion in my t4. I've been to Cornwall and back in my t4 with no issues. Very reliable 😁
Oh my gosh you are hysterical! I Loved this video. You are the 3rd one I watched. My new to me Mini didn't start today and then we banged on the starter and it started. So is there a way to test the starter prior to taking it out?
update: I replaced this... with your help and the Bentley book for me car. Went to start it last night and nothing. No start either. So I'm clearing codes, getting a new key FOB battery and making sure the wires to the solenoid are tight. Anyway, the install was great thanks to your video!
@@happyheartsforLove in my case problem was in ignition module located behind the key barrel, maybe try with that. It's easy to get to, a bit harder to dissemble
Same thing happen to me while tightening the pinch bolt after removal to replace strut. Could not believe it, while putting it back in? and with not too much torque? I drilled 3 smaller holes in a line in the bolt where the head snapped so that I could create a slot for a flat head screwdriver with a square shank so that I could use a wrench to back it out. I used a propane torch and heated the carrier where the bolt was . The keys is to heat the SMOOTH part of the bore , not the threaded. It is the swelling of the bolt from rust and corrosion that cause binding I spent hours heating the threaded end not realizing that.
Yes, you need to change the tunel and driver side floor, cut and weld. Also front subframe, suspension and steering rack are completly different, you need everything from xDrive car
@@Justasimpleguyhu depends on whats and the whys, for me it made perfect sence, I'm still under 17k all in, it was a no prep drag race car, but... I had no problems... Than went stage 2 on the engine and 3 on the gearbox and something blew up 😅
Well this car was at 380 hp for a while, so you could say it did it's thing. It's broken now, but I am in no rush to fix it, made me realise that I'm more a tight twisty road type of guy, so pretty sure I will have a lot more fun in 100hp Citroen AX rally car we are building at the moment 😊 EDIT: Gave that video a look, they are doing an RWD conversion so tehnicaly I still have a better base for no prep tracks 😁
