Sir, thank you for your input, it is appreciated. I welcome any and all comments. I hope to do a better job on my next project. I still have a long ways to go.
Tis guy is ignorant. The comment he made on another channel about Trump being shot was just plain ignorant. Makes you wonder about bottom feeders. Stay far away from this idiots channel.
Thanks Tim, I did paint it and it does look much better. I have found if, I ever do another I will have it sand blasted to bare metal then prime, and paint. I'm certain it will look much better.
Hi Bert, Good repair I do the same for my units. I asked a repair shop owner I know why he does not make this simple repair. He replied "time". He would end up charging more than if he just replaced it. I never tried it yet but I may spot weld the next one I have to do. With parts often taking longer to get, having a few extra bearings on hand may be the biggest time saver. 👍 # 4 Stay well, Joe Z
Hello Joezep, It does take a little extra time, my thinking is simple, the next time the bearing goes bad, a $2 bearings, and about 15 minutes and your done. Probably because shops make more off the entire pulley than just changing a bearing. Just a guess on my part. Still the ones I have done are much faster to replace the 2nd, 3rd, and more times.
Very good fix Brother Bert. I like how you are fixing the throw away pulley. This is what people use to do. Now everything is planned obsolescence. We have largely been a throw away society for the last 25 years. You have made this part totally serviceable now. Thanks for sharing. 👍 Have a great weekend. 👍
Thank you Ed. You have taught me a lot over the years. This is just one example of how equipment can be saved, and in future, will be easier and cheaper to repair. Thanks Brother Ed!
Hello Jon, thanks for watching and commenting. I think the dual mufflers sound good to. I could have used the single muffler, was easier to use 2. I think your cub would look pretty cool to. Have a wonderful week sir.
Thanks Tim. I appreciate your kind words. I cut my front yard, changed the oil and filter then did a compression check. Made a big difference. Ed, of Ed's machine did another great job of doing the valve job. Again thanks, and have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks Ed. It's more surprising that the good cylinder gained more than the bad cylinder. At any rate, I bring you junk, and you give me better than new parts back. It's greatly appreciated Brother. 😊
Hello Bert good job working on these fussy little engines, small engines and mowers give me the hardest time, it's always good to have guys like you that know how to fix these things and keep them running, my last two riding mowers had to be sent out to get worked on because i was lost , keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your video
Thank you Terry, Ed has a video where he did the valve job on the heads. I wish I had a real video camera. Mine turn out much lesser quality than most. Thank you for your kind words ,thanks for watching. Have a wonderful weekend sir
Thanks Tim, It's a really good machine. It was a pleasure to work on it. Thanks for watching, and committing may you and yours have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Thanks Tim, I use the Inverter for odd jobs outside, I originally bought it to heat my home if the electric goes off in the winter. It sat for about 3-4 months, but is running good now. Thanks for commenting. Merry Christmas to you and yours. 😊
I believe that part on a riding mower is called the Discharge Shute, good job on the shed! Great way to reuse materials, sounds like the price was right. Have a Merry Christmas.👍
Hello oxyfee, Thank you for watching and commenting. I have about $100 in it , that was for nuts, bolts, wood screws , and lumber. Yes as for the name for that piece I think is a grass shoot. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
A lot of guys work on their old cars with patina. Good job on putting up a shed thats already got patina on it. !! Great place for the mower & outside tools ! Must have been a puzzle to put together. 👍👍
It works, Bert. Don’t put yourself down. You’re turning a pile of metal into a useful shed, instead of the metal taking up space in a landfill. More of us should be willing to make use of what is at hand. But most of us just throw away perfectly useful stuff and go into debt buying something new.
Hello Mike, Thank you for your kind words. So far I have about $100 dollars in it for some angle aluminum, screws, nuts and bolts. The wood I already had, it was very cheap grade c and d, not something most people would want. I figure for a very cheap price it was worth it. I try to make use of what I have as best I can. Again thank you for your kind words. May you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving. 😊
Thanks Tim, I have a job ahead that I need this power Inverter. I used it Saturday to run a circular saw, I had to run it with the choke on, that usually means the Pilot Jet is plugged up. I figured take it apart, clean the whole thing. Things went wrong. I did figure out what happened, and fixed it. But I used about 4 hours getting it running again. I'm just happy about getting it going again. It's been a big help over the last 2 years. Thanks for watching and commenting, it's appreciated. Have a wonderful time at NNN
Thank you Tim. I appreciate your comments, I'm certain if it had the original engine, when the blade stopped it would have stopped the engine as well. Even with things like this, I still want to keep the extra horsepower. Have a wonderful weekend Sir.
Thanks Tim, I was in a hurry, I over filled it. By taking too much out left room for more Lucas Transmission Fix. I put 3 24 Oz. Bottles in, and filled it the rest of the way with Transmission fluid. It can take about 500 miles to tell if it works. If need be I can rebuild the transmission, it's a lot of work. I'm hoping this works though. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Thanks for watching and commenting Tim
Thank you Tim, It was agreat running machine I sold it last may. I sold it for more than I gave for it. I did a lot of maintenance, oil and filter changes, changed spark plugs, and air filter. Plus I removed the mower deck, power washed both sides, then primered both sides and painted with high gloss black paint. I painted only to keep it from rusting over winter. It helped at time of sale .
Thanks Tim, It's been a while since I posted this. Im Sorry it took so long for me to find your post. The hood actually fits very well. Thank you for watching and posting. I appreciate it sir 😊
Hello Tim, Thanks for watching and posting. I was cutting some grass and had a fairly big pile of cuttings and ran through the big pile and the engine didn't slow or bog and threw the clippings without a problem at all. I'm keeping it. Again thanks for watching and commenting, Have a wonderful day sir.
Mike, You're correct, you couldn't hear me. I was saying the 12.5 horsepower was wore out and put the 25 Kohler Pro engine on, it has an oil breather, it wouldn't stay in the valve cover. I glued it in with gorilla glue. It stays in place and doesn't leak like it did. I do like the way it sounds now .
Looks like you now have 2 mufflers on it. And if I’m correctly recalling your previous videos, that has really tamed the noise. Good job, Bert! 👍 And with that motor, I doubt you will ever encounter grass that can stall it. 🤣
Thank you Mike for watching and commenting. I had just finished cutting my grass, and a little of my neighbors, it didn't bog, or slow at all. I'm very happy with it. I was planning on selling it, but I like it too much. I'm am planning on selling my Craftsman GT 5000. You're correct, the mufflers did help the noise. Still it sounds better in person than on the video. Thanks for watching.
Hello Tim, Thanks for watching and commenting. After I did the first. I was wishing I had recorded the 2 tire, it went much faster, I used my vice grips right off instead of fighting with it. Went much faster. I thought I was done with the John Deere, but I qas going to take it back to the owner yesterday and found it has a serious drain on the battery when the key is off. It's going to be an easy fix though. Have a wonderful day sir
Thanks Tim , I originally planned on selling it, but I changed my mind, it runs very good , the mower deck is working very well. All I can say is it turned out better than I thought it could. I had to do some extras that most small equipment shops probably wouldn't have done. Thanks for watching, and leaving a comment, I appreciate it. Take care sir
One thing I noticed is, if I take off in 5th gear, it pulls the front wheels off the ground if I lower the RPM that keeps the front end on the ground, but much of anything more than idle up it comes Thanks for watching, and commenting
Bert, you’ve probably got enough power now to cut small trees! I saw your comment about wanting to build a 35 mph mower! DON’T DO IT! Sounds like a suicide machine for sure! 🤣
Thanks Mike, I have it all back together and it turned out better than I thought, I was going to sell it but I like it too much. It runs great, and cuts very well. So I'm going to keep it. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it. I still want to make a fast mower I seen one that could run 40MPH, that's definitely fast for a mower.
If I had a riding mower here in CO it would have to have a snow blower or a plow on the front. Good job Bert. Looks and sounds really good !! Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks Tim, I think I'm going to have a hard time letting this go. I built to sell, but it's been interesting, and with some help from my very good friend Ed, from Ed's machine, I was able to get it together. I want to build a go cart now, maybe from a lawn tractor. I want more than one forward gear, plus a reverse. I want it to go at least 35 MPH. I have seen guys that lower riding mowers, and they get almost as low as a go cart. The rear is a big problem, but if it sits high in the rear that's ok. Thanks for watching, and making comments.
Thanks Tim, I appreciate your comments. I have the hood on for the last time (I hope) tomorrow I'm going to put the mower deck on and show the mower in action, hopefully cut some grass. Its been a little more difficult than I thought it would be, but I think the final result is very good. Thanks again Tim. Have a wonderful day
Yes, slow, very slow. I didn't realize just going from s 12.5 horsepower engine to a 25 horsepower would be so time consuming. However I do think when it's finished, it will be a real grass cutting machine. Just to change the throttle cables is a lot of trouble, the 25 needs s much longer cable, plus a choke cable. Adding the choke was easy just drill a new hole. The throttle was bolt it in was touching the gas tank, the end where the cable is attached. So I ground it down some, still touching, it uses 2 blots to hold it onto the dash, so I used longer bolts and the bolt close to the gas tank I added about 100 thousand with washers between the bottom of the dash snd the top of the throttle mounting bracket. That did it, it only took about 7 tries to get it right, but I sure didn't want the throttle bracket rub a hole in the gas tank. It's mostly just little things, just kind of time consuming. I replaced an 02 sensor on my 2001 Lincoln Town Car, if they had the engine just 2 inches farther forward it would give lots of room to change, it was a pain, but I got it done. Have a wonderful week Tim, thanks for watching.
