Very good fix Brother Bert. I like how you are fixing the throw away pulley. This is what people use to do. Now everything is planned obsolescence. We have largely been a throw away society for the last 25 years. You have made this part totally serviceable now. Thanks for sharing. 👍 Have a great weekend. 👍
Thank you Ed. You have taught me a lot over the years. This is just one example of how equipment can be saved, and in future, will be easier and cheaper to repair. Thanks Brother Ed!
Hi Bert, Good repair I do the same for my units. I asked a repair shop owner I know why he does not make this simple repair. He replied "time". He would end up charging more than if he just replaced it. I never tried it yet but I may spot weld the next one I have to do. With parts often taking longer to get, having a few extra bearings on hand may be the biggest time saver. 👍 # 4 Stay well, Joe Z
Hello Joezep, It does take a little extra time, my thinking is simple, the next time the bearing goes bad, a $2 bearings, and about 15 minutes and your done. Probably because shops make more off the entire pulley than just changing a bearing. Just a guess on my part. Still the ones I have done are much faster to replace the 2nd, 3rd, and more times.
