Aaron, How accurate would you guess are the height and weight stats you state? it seems 6' 11 1/2" big Cliff is actually, 6'9" barefoot per NBA combine stats? If you look at team photos, Antwone Woolfolk always seemed taller than Cliff. It seems such a discrepancy should have drawn some media attention, but it didn't. Like Bronny James' true height being unveiled at 6' 1" , I have to wonder about the true height of most players anymore. Yeah, long arms are another factor, which explains a lot about Cliff, and even Bronny, but being excited about the listed height of a player may need an asterixis.
I'm really excited about the season. Should be a lot of fun. Just by chance, I got to meet Coach Pikiell in person this past week. What a nice person and great representative of Rutgers!
I think it's too optimistic. There are too many freshman and new faces. And freshman aren't as impactful as the Jr. And Sr. despite the HS rankings. Expectations are way too high. And top defense in the Big 10 without Cliff at C?
Now that the world knows the direction of college football, Rutgers should move to join the ACC. They would have a serious shot at the ACC title every year and would be a lock in the new CFP. Tho being in the BIG has distinct advantages for the Scarlet Knights, the ACC would offer a more advantageous path to the CFP. It will be a struggle forever for Rutgers to consistently compete for a BIG championship and a solid CFP berth. The ACC is also a better regional fit, not that it means anything anymore. Aint going to happen tho. TV money is king.
Leave the Big 10?!?! We won the realignment lottery. We certainly don't want to join a floundering ACC. We're heading towards 2 super conferences - Big 10 and SEC.
Schiano's problem has never been recruiting. Glad to see the recruits are better than ever but can he beat the upper echelon teams? Because that has always been his biggest failure.
When I was a kid in the early 90s, Rutgers and BC were on an even footing. Look at the difference now. BC gets stomped in the ACC in basically every sport, and they'll end up in the MAC or the American Conference when the ACC breaks up in a few years. That could've been us. So, in the off chance that Tim Pernetti ever reads this comment, thanks a lot!
He needs to stop playing not to lose and start playing to win. Ditch the high school offense. You'll never be taking seriously by the elite if you don't take chances and score points.
I love your clips!…Just one correction. The comment referring to the 2005 football team having the track team in the backfield is partially incorrect. One member of backfield who ran track as well was Joe porter who was one of the leaders in interceptions in the big east in either 05 or 06 and went on to play for the Green Bay Packers (beast!!..)He did not get smoked. The other members of the big east championship 4x100 relay were all track only guys. Multiple football players tried out however didn’t make the relay. You are 100% correct that football speed and track speed are COMPLETELY different however I’m obligated to stick up for that great track and field relay team…lol
Really enjoyed his comment "every player needs to be that Top Dog at some point in his career." Very mature young man. Great to have him on our RU squad
"It's good that Flip Dixon is slower"!?! Sorry kid, but i don't think there is a head coach for any football team on any level that would share the sentiment that they would want any of their players to be slow. I guess Aaron knows this guy pretty well, and feels this guy has a lot of college recruiting knowledge to some degree, but i repeat, there is absolutely NO football coach that would agree that you want a player to be "slower", no matter what his reasoning is. Then to suggest there is going to be some attrition and we should prepare for there to be a shake up in the locker room because that's normal is absurd. I'm glad this David guy is not a real journalist, because he would get no credible interviews. He absolutely has very little knowledge about the reason recruits commit to Greg Schiano. GS has repeatedly said that this is a developmental program, and it's about how hard his players are willing to work for a spot so to suggest that GS recruits these kids with a large part of that reasoning is because some recruits might opt to go elsewhere is ridiculous. Yes kids do sometimes change their minds but to suggest that they are so many players being recruited because of a morbid fear that GS has to recruit this way because some are going to leave is an absolute atrocity, and it's very apparent Dave knows absolutely very little about the process. I'll make sure to skip the next show that Aaron has him on.
Love the channel. I watch regularly. But the audio levels are low and tinny. You’re making 4 vids or so per week and that effort deserves an audio upgrade. I’d be happy to donate. In fact, if every Scarlett faithful subscriber donated only $0.50, that’s a $600 budget!
Thank you. I had a good mic and it broke. I’ve been researching and have a new one on the way. Today I used my iPhone so I bought a mic for that too now. Thanks for the donation idea. I can set that up on RU-vid but haven’t felt right about taking money from fellow Rutgers fans. Thanks again for the kind words and for listening.
@@thescarletfaithful good to hear (no pun intended) you’ve got a replacement on the way. As for donations, I don’t use RU-vid Premium. I put up with the ads so content is free - if I don’t factor in the cost of the soul sucking ads (haha). Donating to a content creator whose 1) content I consume regularly at no charge and 2) might not get substantial benefit from AdSesnse is not a problem. There must be others who view it the same and whatever donations might come, they would be donations of the willing. Similar to RU athletic donors! Either way, keep up the good work.
Great pad as always! I think a lot off fans who are so concerned about the 5 position are dwelling on what Rutgers bball HAS been and not what they CAN be, in this new era of CBB.
You're correct - The Athletic's report on the Basketball Portal grouo was not great. You're wrong that the report was good. It was not good - it was embarrassing. Inaccurate and Incomplete equals Not Credible....Which is worse!
Good background podcast, Aaron. I always like your balanced perspective (I don't always agree, but that's what fans do...). You are one of the few content providers I subscribe to because of your balanced approach.
Thanks Aaron! This was very honest on your part and insightful. Appreciated your origin story. Look forward to your pods for this exciting year, both FB and BB.
Given that Pikiell has been a defensive first philosophy coach it seems that there is an unknown element in terms of him pushing the right buttons when it comes to this team fulfilling it's offensive potential.....no?
