old video but was that picture of the dude with the purple teal jersey pant mask setup at paintball country in ohio?? i play every weekend there and i cant help but notice it lol also i look just like that kid cause i got an empire set for a damn good price cheap so now im that obnoxious loud colored player lol
I think the Proflex just looks fine. Not too much but protects enough to be able to play. Besides all the customization with colors straps and all you can really make it something unique.
Thoughts on the proflex when it comes to mouth shots or ear shots? I thought about getting a proflex but I’m also thinking about the mouth shots, I was also thinking of getting the vforce grill 2.0 instead and I think I’m leaning to the grill, lmk your thoughts
@AdrianSal-r6y if you're worried about mouth coverage I'd recommend v force profilers, I primarily use proflexes when I'm doing media for comfort and beathability but when I play I like wearing profilers because I feel like I have better face coverage
Getting back into the sport after about 12 years. Back when I was competing, HK made great videos, and had almost a cult following of some soft goods. That’s about it. Seeing them now doesn’t upset me at all, nothing bad to say. I was surprised to see how big they’ve gotten, they make darn near every piece of gear you could want, from low to high end too. Lots of new and interesting styles. Lots of teams wearing them. I ended up with a good amount of their gear too, and can’t say I’m disappointed. Would I be banging it with them in their tent? No, but I don’t dislike them for doing their own thing and providing good service to the industry.
Here’s the thing. JT is paintball legacy. I was so big into paintball from 04-09 and pro flexes and the jt pants were such a staple. In 06 jt made the different colored frames and skirts plus all the new straps. It became such a hit. JT is and always was paintball without trying to be gimicky or cheesy or trying to hard or play into the quirky niches of becoming tool bait. I loved white frames, smoke lenses, and a black skirt. The proflexes fit tight to the face without bubbling out like frog eyes on the vforce profile. Sometimes there are inventions that are just a gold standard. Levi’s jeans, Glocks, iPhones, and in this case the pro flex. Hell who remembers Sandana real tree or tree bark patterns going for 1500 bucks lol. Agg
As a player from the early 2000s we played at 15bps...we loved it, but 10 balls ...15 balls ...punk as is punk ass.....play the game loke pros....not thugs...
I remember jt pro flex being the cheapest and most plentiful option. They were good, but I dont get the hype. The fist mask I ever had was a "vents" that came with my stock automag I bought as a package out of Action Pursuit Games back in like 97 or 98. I later bought a camo proflex for like 30 bucks. Guess I should have held onto it. Crazy how .vintage" or "retro" stuff is such a big deal now.
I dont get the need for it to be a massacre, even back in the day, the overshooting was a result of uncapped bps usually, so not intentional or done in anger most the time. That being said, sure af dont miss catching 30 rounds from an angel in 2 seconds either lol. No need to get nasty out there.
Coming from combat sports, it’s a total opposite sport. Most paintball guys are very weird and egotistical. In Jiu Jitsu, there is ego but also humility. Anyone can get caught so there was always a mutual respect. If there was a dispute, you settle it on the mats. If your ego was too high, that’s when you get an arm snapped or put to sleep. You respect your training partners, your gym, your mats, your sport. In Paintball it’s like guys who’ve never been punched in the mouth before and it’s odd. Either way, I love paintball and will continue to play but I’m carrying myself like how I do on the mats and everyday life. No paintball situation or scenario will change that. Like the guy said, I got a mortgage and career. I don’t need to be fighting or getting lit up for no reason. Sidenote : look out for the youth. That’s who ultimately will grow the sport. Don’t go to a rec field looking for tournament style play. Your local field owner will thank you.
The setup in the early 2000s was soft earpiece pod if needed. Roll the bottom up and put in the lenses you want and choose your custom strap. Add beanie or sweatband
Man I feel bad about how nice we had it from about 1998 to 2008. When a Jt was just about a given. Some used other mask but it turns out they were probably weirdo’s
As a player in the sport for decades, I originally didn't mind HK. My problem is the culture they created in the sport. They made it "cool" to bonus ball and make fun new players. Even their semi pro team was known for not being very good, but starting a lot of drama on the feild. It led me to realize how bad Hghey is for the sport and how much I can't stand that terrible style.
Here to say Enemy of the State headbands resell for the most amount of money currently..you’d be lucky to find one new for less than 300 dollars on the after market. Shits insane. Most go for 4-$600
Paintball is secretly an IRL MMO and proflexes, a sweaty and sun bleached Sandana that hasn’t been washed in 20 years, and custom anno give you good stats. I washed my pink sandana for the first time since 2010 and my speed dropped 12 points.
I don't find the HK kid any more annoying than the all Dye kid. (would have to admit I've been away from the game for a while but this was a common player when I played consistently) People identify with brands, and early on tend to fanboy too much. I do love that you gave HK a fair chance. Just like any brand I think they do make some good products at a decent price point. No brand has a 100% track record, and I find it weird people aren't complaining about GI and their fumbling of iconic paintball brands. At least HK has a overall design philosophy that translates to their products.
I bought a JT ProShield (I think) back in 2002 or so because it was around ~$40 and my friend recommended it. I actually never knew I could take the lens out. I tried a couple times and thought it would break if I did. When I got back into paintball in 2016, I found my mask in my duffel bag at the bottom of my closet, and the lens had been crushed, so I just threw the whole mask away, lol. I figured it was out of date anyway.
I am the only player I know who limits my gun to 8bps. I play a lot of walk on speedball these days and I've yet to be disadvantaged. I played in the 2000's and remember slinging multiple cases of paint each time I played, and I had to quit playing because as a teenager because I could not afford it and my parents were not going to keep paying for it. Looking back at it, it was kinda crazy we were just all okay with 15bps simply due to how much it cost, not to mention the pain it could and did bring often. These days, I can play all day on 1.5 cases of paint shooting 8bps, sometimes less paint than that. Recently participated in a 2 man - 10 ball tournament and that was probably as much fun as I have ever had playing a tournament. It was more strategy based than just slinging lanes of paint until someone fucks up.
Great vid. It’s kind of funny how much proflex guys will defend the mask like their life depends on it. I still love the Proflex but when you hear it’s hands down the best mask you gotta wonder what they’re smoking. There is so many better options on the market. It’s just still continuing to be a trend. I still wear a proflex even though I think it’s hands down worse than a Pushi unite, e-flex, Evs, vios. Because I’m a idiot 😂
Force was my first mask had it for almost 7 years. Most amazing lenses to change. So east and simple and was a great mask for 40 bucks in 2004 ish. Now I rock the dye i4s those are nice
If I ever played again I would only rock HK stuff because that's where I want my money to go. SC streetball made PRO paintball what it is today, HK was a running force in that. Mouse, Raney, Marcello...........imo no one gave lil Marcello more looks than Mark
Stop loading your gut and you’d be able to afford paint 😅 You def have a some under belly. I just don’t think pb is really your sport. It ain’t for the faint of heart.
I have no trouble affording paint, this video is about why we shouldn't brutalize rentals and chase people away from the sport, if you going to your local field and ruining a kids birthday party is your thing then I just don't think pb is really your sport
