@@outdoorobservations thanks for the helpful information. I just placed my runaway trailer order and we are trying to make sure we have the important things for when it’s ready
It would be hard to give an exact number as we bought the camper and added things over a period of about 3 years. I’d guess probably around 14-15k. You may want to join some of the Runaway Facebook groups and you may come across some used ones at a good price that could work with your budget.
@@outdoorobservations When you have camp set-up where do you keep the toilet -- in the dry part of the shower tent? Also, I assume when traveling it goes in the back of the Forerunner?
@@jafletcher5105 Yes the toilet is in the dry room of the tent and when we are traveling it is tucked in on the floor of the camper along with other items around it.
It’s been about 3 years since we purchased them but I believe the brand was eket and we got them from ikea. We tried to replace one of the drawer inserts a few months back that I damaged but couldn’t find them or the cubby at our local ikea. Not sure if they discontinued them or not. The dimensions on the cubbies were 10 3/4” x 9 7/8” x 10 3/4”.
We don’t have a video on just the awning. It is an OVS (Overland Vehicle Systems) 270 nomadic. We have had it for about 2.5 to 3 years and it’s been great.
How has the Runaway held up? Have you gone off-road with it? Does your 4Runner have any issue pulling it? Did you have to add a trailer brake to your 4Runner? Great Video! I love the wrap.
It has held up well. We go off road quite a bit with it, there are a couple of videos on the channel where are off road. No issue with the 4Runner pulling it. If I’m in the mountains I’ll put the transmission over to manual and use 4th or 5th as needed. The venturist came with brakes so I added the redarc tow pro elite brake controller.
Great video! How are the door frames on that trailer? I´m looking at buying one but saw another review that said the door frames are not very strong and tend to flex over time. They´re made of soft aluminum? Would you mind giving your feedback_ Thx!
Thanks. The trailer is lightweight, I think mine comes in at just over 1100lbs from the factory. The door frames are aluminum but I personally have not had any issues. We don’t have the rear door on our unit, those are larger and I have heard of some sagging and needing adjustment. Our side doors have had no issue to this point.
I just came across your channel, and I think this video is great! It is going to be one of my 'goto' videos as I continue to shop for my first rv trailer! Thank you! I subscribed immediately! 😊
That is a Dometic Go water jug and faucet. We fill it from our ro water system on the sink at our house and use that water for making coffee etc. The faucet charges using a usb c cable and holds a charge for a good while.
Do you know off hand which baskets you have on the upper shelf? I'm looking for something to fit on that shelf in our Range Runner. I currently have some up there that don't fit and they're about worn out. I like your lower shelf idea too. We have a front - back queen so the lower cubbys wouldn't work for us. We have "wire" shelving up front going from side to side. I bought 2 "3 shelf" kits that were about 22" wide. On the two outer racks I used 2 shelfs then used one to connect them in the middle. It sits just below the AC and is a good place to put junk... too bad it just falls through 🤣🤣
Funny you ask about the baskets. We are actually in the process of trying to find some that are a better fit. These are not deep enough so we have some stuff propped behind them to keep them from sliding around. If we find something that fits well, I’ll share that info.
@@outdoorobservations Thanks! Thanks. We've been busy getting ready for our first trip of the year and I feel like I wasted the winter and now have to hurry up and do it all in a few weeks.
Love your setup - probably because it has a lot of the same components that we have. Chair, small folding table, larger table, fire pit, carpet. Great minds think alike!
Really enjoyed this review video, nice to see what others use. Been on the fence regarding the Scottle and paying that much for something so simple. We have the propane fireplace as well and my wife likes your chair. I’d say you’re our age or a tad younger, do you find the camper of that size a lot of work?
We really enjoy the skottle, it’s versatile and packs down easily. One of the things we like the most about our camper is how easy it is just to hook up and go. We had a 32ft fifth wheel in the past and find this much less hassle to head out for a quick weekend trip.
My wife and I are both retiring at the end of 2024, we are researching the compact camper options. Your videos are the very best, informative and inspiring. Y’all keep the videos coming cause I going to keep watching.
Curious why you went with the offroad version when you are in FL? I'm looking (live in South GA) but I'm thinking the offroad is overkill. Maybe I'm missing something. Appreciate any feedback and loved the video!
Hi Jim. We live close to the Georgia border off 95 and our favorite camping is in the backcountry. We mainly camp in north Georgia, Tenn, and Nc. Probably 95% of what we do is dispersed so the off-road made the most sense.
where is the camp site where it looked like y'all were at the top of the mountains and you had the drone flying all over showing what all was around you ? at the 4:51 mark ..thanks
Love what you guys did with your Venturist! I have a RangeRunner that I'm starting to customize and I was wondering if you can comment on how you did the wallpaper in yours? Did you end up removing some of the screws/fixtures on that front wall to get a good coverage? If so, did the screws go back in without an issue? Thanks again for the video!
Hi Cathy. Yes, we removed the screws holding the power cord from the a/c and also the ones holding power strip. They went back in no problem, just don’t over tighten them. Thanks for watching.
Those are made by black diamond and I believe moji was the model. I’ve had them for a couple of years and heard they had been discontinued. Not sure about that though. You could check black diamonds website or Amazon.
I just took some short Velcro straps that have a small buckle and attached them around the awning support bars where I wanted the lights to be. Then I just hook the lights through the buckle.
Hey guys, great review. We are in the prosses of ordering a 6x8 Venturist. We would like to know who did your wrapping. We wanted to mash out tow vehicle.
Thanks. We are in NE Florida and had a local guy that came to our house and wrapped it in our garage. Pretty much most Sign/Decal shops could either wrap it or refer you to a place in your area that could.
You mightve said and i missed it and if i did please forgive me! But do yall have solar cause i didnt hear you say and with AC and lights and things you have to have power and you was talking bout not seeing a gas station or even paved roads for 3 or 4 days so i would think your not running into campgrounds with electric so im just wondering? Them red lights were a lot brighter than i expected and that wrap job is awesome! Thats the best interior ive ever seen on any teardrop! Cause when you get down to it a tear drop is realy a bedroom on wheels with a kitchen in the back. Sure beats sleeping on the ground laying on hard rocks and sticks in a tent but ive done it many times. Im fixing to start building my off road square drop so thank yall for the tour! Yall be safe! Happy Trails my friends!
Thanks for watching and commenting. We do have some portable solar panels that we use to recharge our ecoflow when the sun cooperates. We also carry an inverter generator in the front box for times when the weather is not suitable for solar. Since this video we have added a max air dome fan to the camper and also a 100ah lithium iron phosphate battery with a solar controller, charger and switch panel. Has really been working well so far. I need to do a quick video update on that.
@@outdoorobservations OK I realy preciate you getting back to me! That's sounds like yall have a great setup and have backup if one is not working you can go to the other one and that's the way to be especially as far as yall go away off road it's always better to be prepared. Thank you so much! I'm still learning on the solar stuff and what's the best way for me to go. Have a great night!
Just found you guys and I love you videos. Just starting my off road life and w am looking for an off road camper. Your setup is in my wheelhouse. If I may be a little bit nosy, how much was your camper that you purchased before your upgrades? Super video I’ve liked and subscribed. Looking forward to maybe meeting you guys someday when I hit the road I’m not too far away. I live in Eastern North Carolina so y’all have a great day and enjoy your summer.
@@MrJay27804 Hi there. Thanks for watching. We have had our camper a little very 3 years. When I bought it I had the roof bars, side mount propane, rotopax fuel carrier and the road shower added as options from the factory. It was like $11,500 according to my memory. I would imagine that it would probably be mid to upper $12k if I had to guess today. Runaway has pricing on their website so you could go there and get an idea based upon what you’re looking for. We sleep with our heads at the back of the camper. We fit wheel to wheel but if my feet touch the wall it wakes me up so we changed to sleeping back to front. Works well for us.
We have a Joolca shower system that we carry with us so we are able to get a nice hot shower when needed. As far as bathroom breaks there are many options out there from a 5 gallon bucket and toilet seat with the double lined bags that seal after use to multiple portable toilet brands.
