Gotta give yall a breakdown of that bar from “Ohana Means Family”. “I’m tryna get my flowers like a luau, see/Back before my daughter was a toddler, her favorite flick was ‘Moana’/like her I travel the seas for safety of ohana, meaning family” Moana was traveling around on her boat in the movie, I been traveling around the world doing shows and whatnot to make sure I make money to make sure the family is straight, I wasn’t saying she was Hawaiian lol but in the movie she definitely rocks a luau so it connected back to that in a way. “I remember seeing that on the Faygo’s (‘Ohana Means Family’)/Slight reminders to ‘pop’ for the fam, I need that payroll cuz” Faygo is a brand of soda we drink up here in Buffalo that started in Detroit, and on the labels you would see one of their slogans - Ohana Means Family. We also call soda “pop” up here. So “Pop for the fam” meaning I gotta go hard with this music so I can pop off for the fam so I can hold everyone down. This joint was kinda layered so I just wanted to give context. Salute to you guys for the coverage & support! 1:30:34
Thanks for watching. we're fans of your music and hope to see you continue to grow. The Moana thing wasn't a serious critique, just our sense of humor, but we appreciate the breakdown it adds layers to the song to help us appreciate it even more.
Appreciate the breakdown in the comments. The support is greatly appreciated. You keep putting out fire music and we will definitely keep talking about it.
Andre is the 🐐 he gets rated over BIG Boi cuz he's better than Big Boi. Andre has times where he leaves earth on a verse, Big Boi doesn't. We gotta stop pretending like they're the same.
@mikebig321 nah the panel of haters started sayin they're starting to hate on the 🐐 and that Big Boi is right there with him. I think Big Boi is dope and underrated, but that convo needs to be had without comparing him to 3 Stacks. Compare Big Boi to Prodigy, I'd take Big Boi all day over Sickle Cell Pee.
@altonmckenzie8587 no one said he wasn't dope. He's just not up there with Dre the same way Pippen aint up there with Mike, but sometimes they both scored in the 20's together and had 6 rebounds 5 assists and a steal 🤷🏿♂️
Battles are so so dynamic , or too too dynamic to be in olympics. The dancers are absolutely olympic tier athletes and performers but, theres no, like... chalk line, balancing bar, un even bar, shot put, 8 lane track.... static element that each player competes on... two dancers, beats unknown, reactions, attacks and responses.. I just dont see how the FEEL of all that can be quantified as an olympic sport. The culture of it is well maintained in its own world of championships.
If dressage can be an Olympic sport so can Breaking. And it may not have static elements like some other sports, but it's head to head, so those things aren't needed. The better dancer wins the round it's judged just like boxing is
I think the whole Griselda movement is decreasing by the year. In the next three years, I don’t think they’ll be relevant at all anymore. I mean they’re already losing a lot of relevancy.
He talks how he’s not insecure anymore but rapping about how if someone doesn’t like his music they were probably mo****ed is some of the craziest shit I’ve ever heard 😭
@@MrASAPAB I didn't hear that line but if he said it it's crazy but I think there's a point he's making there. It's just worded terribly. My thing is this out of the whole album all people heard was lines they don't like about race when there's other stuff there. It's a hyper focus on that but there are other topics. Logic could hide behind having money but he chooses to be vulnerable. Is it the best choice idk but people feel the emotions he expresses on records they just not gonna admit it cause everybody wanna be tough.
@@leroygreen6310 it’s in the song “in retrospect.” Idk, I don’t really understand the point tbh. Logic has always been hyper fixated on focusing on his haters, and he’s clearly trying to make it a bigger deal than it is. He just can’t grasp the idea that someone may not like his music and has to make ridiculous claims like the one he did. Also the material on the album is the same regurgitated material in each and every song. He’s been following the same subject matter over and over again for his last 3 albums: he will talk about how good he is, how he’s so hated, shouting out his influences repeatedly and who he listened to, how he battles with anxiety, and how he’s happy now and doesn’t make music for haters. All in the most simple way possible. I don’t mind the same stuff over and over again but each and every song is these same topics with no clever wordplay or bars at all. The beats are nice but that’s about it. How is this album any different from no pressure?
@@leroygreen6310 I didn’t feel any emotions on this record, to me rap music is way more about talking about how happy you are and how others will never be happy. This actually shows his insecurity because he’s been repeating the same stuff for his last albums too. I think it’s actually demeaning and contradictory.
That logic album some buns. Dude talks about the same thing over and over again in the most basic way: how he’s happy now, how others will never be happy, how he’s out of retirement and only makes music for his fans, how he battles anxiety, and then multiple shout outs to his influences. Not one dope bar on this album
To me, he's a mediocre rapper at best. This past battle with Drake and his team of rappers was more of a versus on his end. I thought Drake had the better bars. His bars are low quality and don't even always make sense..... but from this generation of rappers, there's not much to choose from. Its corny because lyricism ain't seasonal. This ain't the damn NBA where they put you up against eras. Music, and more especially lyricism, is a time machine. Non linear to me. Kendrick's bars are not only not memorable to me, and in terms of his bars they don't move the needle like a dope fiend with one track mark. One of the best lyricists just died not too long ago. R.I.P Chino XL. The punch line and entendre genius. Listen to him and Cambatta, and your standards will go up to never go down.
yall been having wild ass takes i been letting the over done kdot hate slide cause his stans be reaching but common was dope and i listened to let the dirt say amen dude and he was dope too 🤷🏿♂️😭🤣
They should listen to the whole album and this guy who sang it doesn’t matter he’s definitely a clown when I see you older guys make statements like this. They just want to sound relevant to young people.
This just shows the adolescent mindset of people it doesn’t matter if albums came out before the year you were born whenever you realized that you love music or especially if you’re going to be a artist then you go back and you listen to music what year you were born to listen to Miles Davis and Duke Ellington and all types of things that came out 20 and 30 years before we were born doesn’t make sense to say that you shouldn’t study the great that came before you
Anybody on here, including your cohost if they don’t understand how you have to know the history and study what became before you to be great at your craft or just to be a part of the culture did something wrong and for them to convey that message to the youth is even more sad
When we were younger it was considered cool as hell to dig into old school hip hop. We would show off playing an older song our friends didn’t know. This generation I don’t get it. These dudes can’t look past yesterday.
Boat is a herb, but not because he just listened to Hov. Truth be told I don't know if I ever listened to a KRS or Kool G Rap album. Just now started checking out full Wu Tang projects (they're not as good as the hype). I dunno maynes, plus he got 16 more years of music to go through than I did at his age. That's a lot of 💩
From wutang, I would mainly check out their debut album “Enter the Wu-Tang” with the songs CREAM and method man. It’s ok for it to feel underwhelming. Some old school music needs context because every rapper brought a new sound to the current moment that might not be understood as innovative today but it was then. Wutang was the first to have mad heads with different voices all in one single group/album. People argued who the best was from the group. They also the first to bring all these funny karate flick ad libs. Early 90’s has some of the best hiphop imo. 2pac, nas, tribe called quest, naughty by nature so much more
@RapPhilosophy I was around then I just didn't mess with Wu like that. 36 Chambers is their debut not Enter the Wu. 36 Chambers was aight, I can see why some people like it. I was more so talkin about their solo works though.
me and my friends would listen to whatever we found laying around the house lol we were limited on CDs so we would get curious and listen to our parents old tapes. gen z has so much new music pushed on them and they don't have time to go back unless they really want to.
@@mikeillgaming4224 I’ve been meaning to listen to Public Enemy for some reason I just never got around to checking out any of their albums but i figure it’s about time now lol
@@nvm7191 yeah it's about that time lol .. we all loved slick Rick, especially the song runway.. I bought a 91 Pontiac Sunbird and the previous owner left "the rulers back" in the tape deck🙏🏾
@@oldbaldy6840 not just our own. Ton of white casuals who are elitists, mainly guys who listen to Kanye, Kendrick, Tyler the creator, who do that disrespect.
@@MrASAPAB yea but if it was just white casuals I would be fine. It's people that say they are part of the culture that don't know shit that annoys me, Black, white or other.
@@oldbaldy6840 I feel you bro. But a large portion of them are white casuals. Not all, but most. The type of dudes to say a garbage album like some rap songs is better than illmatic.
Hip Hop is so unique from other American genres. I think it could also stem from the lack of cover culture in Hip Hop too. With rock, Jazz, and country they have a cover culture that keeps old songs/albums. Any young person wanting to play in these genres they have to engage with their classics as almost a right of passage. Anyone can grab a microphone and starting spitting, which isn't a bad thing but it does make sense.
Great point. But there are lots of remixes/ covers of old songs in hip-hop too as well, but most of the time, people don't even know someone is redoing an old song.
I agree 💯 y’allz point about Yachty and the fact that either no one pays attention to the MCs before their era and who’s showing up so that we can have actual lyricism again. That’s where I pull up. What if I told you I know a dude that’s rapping as great as he produces??? 😉 Go peep I LOVE YOU I’M NOT SORRY then circle back to God Hates Gucci ( both albums on streaming platforms ) I swear Washington DC and the DMV got something to say ✍🏼
TPAB has been my favorite rap album and he's in MY personal top 5 but i can't stand the fans ong! Yeah his writting has gone downhill since he stop hanging around Ab-Soul and Q, they pushed him to rap better. And Baby Keem is the worst thing to happen to Kendrick's music holy shit. I was vibing so hard to N95 then he did that squeaky shit and i actually got pissed lol 🤣
I didn't understand why there was a music video for Family Matters but not The Heart Part6? If he did all that why didn't he record it? Ive been waiting on a music video for The Heart Part 6 for three months! lol 😂
Lol i didn't think the reverse words were that big a deal. Y'all really hated it? You don't have to decode anything the internet decoded it for you like two seconds after it dropped. Yeah i hated the squeaky voice! The worst thing about Kendricks music was working with baby Keem it's too much I can't stand it 😅 Other than that euphoria is my second favorite track from the disses
To me he’s underrated if y’all don’t like his music just say so but don’t down play the man’s creative process. His body of work I believe will stand the test of time.
How can someone be underrated if people are calling him the greatest? We do like some of his music, just not all of it. Plus this video is mostly about his lyricism, not his body of work .
@thehatersball504 This video's understanding of lyricism and application thereof is cringe, though I understand it's your subjective take as to what "proof" is, objectively, your are wrong in ways that even goes against the rubric you gave. You claim lyricism by its attributes of vocabulary, flow patterns and rhyme schemes, and leave out its core appeal, which is lyricisms appeal to social constructs and human behavior as dictated by these social constructs. You openly dodge how subjective lyricism, as per your own video, gets, undercutting Auntie Diaries on basis of not resonating with yourselves then openly saying he isn't impactful by your own quality of lyricism you grant to the likes of Tupac, Ice Cube and Nas. You mention legends that quite clearly don't suit up to the "metric" you setup but nonetheless impacted culture and individuals through their philosophies and emotional display which is part of lyricism because those were WORDS they were using to permeate peoples minds, that is why Tupac would get "more flowers" than a guy like Lupe as a rapper, because of lyricism simply conveying art that resonates more with human beings, which is layed from a similar base of thought or emotion as Lupe but would resonate with people "more" due to its effective assessments of circumstances and the musicality and simplest lyrics touching someones heart and thus inspiring or giving them new perspectives/approachs of their social contructs that influence their lives everyday. Put simply, the efficiency of a song like Dear Mama compared to any of song in the mural series lends more "power" to evoke human qualities that resonate with the art - from a lyrical standpoint as I've substantiated. The context of the larger culture verifies this connection through hosting, "goat conversations". Lyricism is far more dynamic, you rightfully cite Tupac and Ice Cube to substantiate this dynamic saying that they made, "statements". Kendrick made statements, you don't like em, cool, but ignoring this feat by calling it "overrated" is straight up childish, even by your own "metrics". There flaws in lyricism of Kendrick Lamar that are far more worthy of deconstruction rather than this lazy "critique". If you wanna hate then do it right. I'll be here for it, I've subbed.❤
@@thehatersball504 If you can't differentiate the creative out put of Kendrick from a guy like Drake, I honestly don't know how I could respect your takes personally, and this lends to your conversation of Kendrick taking time, which in context of artists like Kendrick is funny, you wouldn't see this if you can't differentiate between a Kendrick and a Drake. Essentially this whole video is just full of obvious inconsistencies and subjectivity that's just lends it to subjective opposition and complacency. I do appreciate the part where you comment on his voices though personally, that's the only time the video actually makes sense and is truthful. But your "objectivity" guise is just stupid, imo, y'all sound like haters who actually perpetuated this cult like following Kendrick has fr.
I know yall love good hip hop! So finally you can go listen to I Love You I’m Not Sorry by Let The Dirt Say Amen. It’s up on all DSPs and of course bandcamp!
I had a Kendrick fan actually tell me the other day that, I have to really pay attention the lyrics cause theres more than one meaning.. I was like ' damn, thats wild'
i got Lupe over kendrick any day and thats prolly why he hatin and bitter cause he knows he better but he aint mainstream and dont got the machine behind him no more he wont be able to be seen or make the impact without a mahcine but us hip hip head know he goated he should be happy with that cause it aint a good look 😂😂
the damn freeway album is dope idk what they was hearing🤷🏿♂️ some of the beats sound too similar but its dope ass album so far Lupe common and this freeway been fire for me this year I'm waiting on the LL the Rakim Collab album was cool but he need to do a full solo@@DumbitDwn
@@MrASAPAB come on, man hahahahhaa how you gonna say Aesop is trash? You listen to Daylight EP and tell me that's trash. Even Lupe will tell you Aes is the greatest. He's a lyrical genius, no doubt. His use of metaphors is like that of a renaissance poet, there's real imagery to unpack and it's genuine imagery, it paints a picture in your mind. He can make a song about something incredibly mundane and make it sound like the most interesting topic ever. He's completely cracked the code of poetry, it's NOTHING to do with the artist and EVERYTHING to do with the art. There's no pretense, there's no "cool image". 50 cent for example acknowledges that a large part of his success is a persona and image that he's cultivated. Aes has none of that, just music that stands on it's own. Listen to Cycles of Gehenna or WaterTower and decipher those lyrics, listen Dog at the Door and tell me that's not the best example of comedy in HipHop. The guy is just an objectively brilliant poet, even if the music doesn't vibe to your taste. In the same way, 50Cent is an objectively good hit maker and has an objectively iconic image, even if you don't vibe with his music. Get Rich or Die Trying is arguably a masterpiece, but it's all about the artist and not the art.
Almost agreed until I read some of your comments saying Jay, etc are better than Em. 😂. You guys are so full of it. Calling Em a gimmick. Don't bring race into this. Seriously. Don't hate
The perception of reality is more real than reality. People don’t actually feel it themself but they observe that others who are popular feel it so they force themself to feel it too
Yall say Kendrick has no lyrics when he won a prize specifically for amazing lyrics 🤦🏾♂️ and the thing is that so many ppl think he is a really good rapper is bc he is you haters out there say things without any proof plus Kendrick Lamar also has a diamond album which only a few rappers have gotten
