I ride a 7'2 full nose and a 7'0 traditional shirt board shape and I don't normally kick unless the wave comes in and the water fills up under your feet.
Assuming this is a question for Mark but he talks about bringing the centre fin to the front of the box to loosen the board up (like a twin) or moving it back to get more drive
The sentence " padle down the wave" is so good. I bought a OBE last winter and alot of times I padled and poped up on the highest point of the wave launcing me forward and loosing all speed at the bottom. I might try to actualy stay at the midle of the wave this evening if we get some waves here in Belgium ...
It looks like you step your rear foot backwards at the top of the wave right before you turn. Is that true? For me I'm trying to figure out foot movement and placement on my mid length. Front foot doesn't seem to move much and then back foot comes forward for more speed and moves over the tail for tighter turns?
He’s trying to lift the nose and engage part of the tail line, not all of it. If you 👀 at some of the other masterclasses they all talk about back foot pressure and a light front foot which guides the board around.
Good Luck guys. Keep on moving! I know how it`s hard to brake the rules. I made my own Flowrider in 2014. This is proof ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pbnwi-P2UOE.html
I can watch these take off videos all day! Helpful to watch as I'm transitioning down from longboarding, so the take off feels more critical for me. Find myself paddling too deep in without doing the Cobra pose before eyeing down line too late = don't stand up in time!
That's amazing to hear! We can all do with some help and sometimes getting access to the top level people can be practically impossible. Mark is a legend in the sport, realiy happy to hear you are enjoying the content, loads more from Mark and the others on the www.Hodi.tv platform
Just like to add here at the 2.13 mark there is somone lighting a siggi and taking a drag in the sound. Not very good just saying hahhaha. Might want to check this out.
@@georgewhittorn9670 😂thanks for letting us know. Will try avoid this kind of thing because your are actually right, and some people may take offence and that’s not the idea! But great spot!
I am one of your biggest fans growing up. I am from Morocco but lived in France for 8 years and used to surf Vendée but also Hossegor with my Moroccan friends whom you know !! I now live in Newquay in the U.K. and would be glad to welcome you in Cornwall !
That’s so awesome to hear! It’s always some small detail or unique way to think about a technique that unlocks so learning Super stoked you like the concept and thanks for commenting :)
I have been working on my turns and carving on a mid length the past couple of years. I unknowingly use the technique you mention here- effectively shortening the rail. Funny thing is I have been struggling transitioning the technique to my short boards. Often I lose speed and control and after this vid I’ve realized I’m not utilizing enough rail on my short boards. Thanks
Awesome news! That’s why the videos have been made. By Surfers for Surfers! You can also register at Hodi.tv for free and get access to weekly free content.
