Hey Deano! I sold the 200 about a year after I made these videos to a friend. About 12 months after I sold it he had an issue with one battery that DCS covered under warranty. The battery was still working fine but I believe the bluetooth function wasn't working so it wasn't showing up in the app correctly. I know DCS have released even better batteries since these ones again and it's definitely a mod that I would highly recommend.
Hey mate - i never worked it out accurately but the dash computer (which we all know isn't perfectly accurate) would give me like 14.5ltrs/100km around town and then 12.5ltrs/100km on the highway. To be honest mate I think it was fairly close because on big trips I used to calculate distance of driving between towns compared to how much fuel I could carry and it would always work out to be about what I expected.
Be interested to see how this DCS batteries are now performing under the bonnet...I installed a 2 x 75Ah DCS setup in my 100, and then transferred it to my 200, and now 3 1/2 years down the track, (which is 6 months out of the 3 year under bonnet warranty period) they are down to 65% capacity. It will be cheaper for me to revert to lead acid under the bonnet and put a lithium house battery in the rear....than to replace the lithium like for like. Very unhappy with the outcome.
Sorry to hear about this! Did you try speaking to DCS even though it was out of warranty? I sold the 200 about 3 years ago and the new owner has said he did replace one DCS battery under warranty in the bonnet after about a year. I have a few mates that have them under their bonnets still with no issues.
Absolutely love this range. I love how overengineered the dometic range is. It's pricey but I don't think it's unjustified at all. Will pick up the single swag and some boxes later this month 🤙
@@TroyStaines Thanks - did you ever make the video about how to use it that you spoke of in the video when you show the head unit. I have one for my 2011 Sahara but it would be nice to have some instructions rather than just pushing buttons to see what happens.
@@gregmccarthycronulla sorry Greg I never got around to it because EC had come out with their own videos and I’ve since sold the car. I still have a few mates running their screens without issue though. Best thing to do if you are having any problems is give the guys at EC a call - they know their stuff and will help you straight away!
@@TroyStaines Thanks Troy. I only got mine a few days ago and have it working well with CarPlay but it looks like it will do so much more than I expected but I am reluctant to try to figure it out by just pushing buttons. I got mine from the local Sound Guy here in Cronulla NSW. I might give EC OffRoad a call. My car is a 2011 LC200 Sahara which I have had since new (only done 90K) but the head unit started playing up. I got this on recommendation from sound guy for Apple CarPlay but it looks like it will do so much more. My local guy is going to give me a run through tomorrow.
Amazing! I sold the car now to a friend and last time I spoke with them the electrical system is still working great. I've actually just booked in to get my new car done with the same kind of system using DCS batteries and Victron gear!
Completely understand Jess… that’s why I called it my ultimate setup because I wasn’t too worried about costs. I’m pretty sure a lot of this gear has dropped in price since I made this video though 🙌
Hi Troy, great video and review of the 16" control centre from EC Offroad. About to do the big lap and looking to upgrade to this unit for our LC200 2011. Have the software upgrades made a difference, and if you had your time again, would you select this system?
Hey Rohan! I've since sold the 200 series but in the end it was working just fine - sometimes there would be the odd thing like it would be a little slow after a very long drive, or the bluetooth wouldn't connect quickly, but it was such small issues that i was willing to put up with since it was a 12yr old car trying to communicate with new software. I know that they have since released new models that friends of mine have that they are all happy with. Definitely worth giving the EC guys a call and having a chat about options for your particular model.
That backbone system would do my head in. I put a flat alloy rack on that I can tie down to anywhere on (Ocam). So handy being able to get your arm under the rack from the sides.
It was annoying when trying to tie random objects down. I ended up using different style straps that were more easily able to hook around the cross members but it still wasn't perfect. I wouldn't go that way again - a case of it looks awesome but isn't amazingly practical.
I tried to film at night but with a non-cinema drone, it looks like the lights are either stupidly bright or not bright at all so I didn't want to put any trickery shots in there. At the end of the day I was really happy with the STEDI lights and the combination that I had on the 200 and it's one of the main things I miss on my new car.
@@TroyStaines No worries, yeah I'm looking at getting the 7" Stedi Type-X Sport spotties on my 100 series. Or I just go el-cheapo and get King's lethals. I rarely use high beams as I'm in the burbs so I like the idea of having the covers on most of the time.
Old mate who makes them failed to contact me Xmas after is pm’s him twice and called him to order… mum and dad business who cannot keep up with orders.. I’m now doing a Richardson with box remap
@@cjwall4268 - that may be true but you need to have some processes and procedures in any business to ensure customers end up with a good experience. My issue was I contacted/left msg and then finally spoke to him, ordered one and was told they had Xmas backlog to clear. I then did not hear anything until early June with no updates so did not even know it was coming!
No your not daft buy not wanting to leave a fire behind!!!! Hi ya. We are a bunch of loose canoe/kayaker in UK, an our motto is, Leave nothing behind. Great bits of kit. Thanks for sharing Paul 15.32 gmt Uk cheers
I’ve heard plenty of good stories about the new ones so I’m sure the little issues I had with mine are all fixed :) I’ve sold the 200 now but appreciate your suggestion :)
1:00 All automatic gearboxes? I think what Dan the owner of Stocklock Autos means is the Stocklock lockup kit is available and advertised only for a very selective range of LandCruisers. Otherwise you may find yourself like the rest of us waiting on a very long queue and for a very long time with no guarantees that a Stocklock with EVER be released for your vehicle. Thanks for info, but what a very bad waste of time for everyone!
I've used it a little bit and had no issues at all - seems like great gear! Since doing this, I see now that Drifta Stockton has a good range of recovery gear as well!
Hey Stewart - contact the team at EC Offroad - they supplied all of the stuff for this 200 and also my own 200 - they were great to deal with and know their stuff!
Great video Troy, have a 100 series and wondering which way to go with the battery set up, interesting hearing the different set ups you have been through, and after watching this seems your latest system is the way to go. Reading the DCS material it does say not to hook the inverter up through the Victron Battery saver if its more than 300 amps, so would have to have a different circuit for that.
