Also, does the gear for the speedometer pickup freewheel, or do you torque to where it only rotates with the drive shaft? If that makes any sense to you. I just replaced the bearing and decided to take that gear off the end of the driveshaft but forgot if it freewheeled or not.
No you don't have to. Just loosen off the track and when you put the cover back on, use something to push the driveshaft back into position so the holes in the cover line up with the holes on the tunnel. I use a 2x4.
Thank you Scott for this great video. Is it possible to remove the shaft from the top to be able to change the bearing and at the same time change the one on the side of the chaincase. I have a Polaris Switchback adventure 600 - 2012, 18000 km. The bottom two are done. Sorry, I'm getting confused between driveshaft and jackshaft.
I did mine just today on my 22 XCR and did not have to remove anything, except the four bolts holding on the exhaust valves. There is another you tube video that shows you how.
I have a 2016 600 indy with 5,000 miles. How would I know if this bearing needs to be replaced? Sled runs and drives fine, always dealer serviced. Took for ride this weekend and thought I heard whirring noise when accelerating/ louder when decelerating below 30 mph. Not sure if I am just hearing the motor, or if it is this bearing.
Take the cover off and see if it has any play in it by wiggling it back and forth. With 5k I'd certainly service both the jackshaft and driveshaft bearings.
I have a polaris indy 600sp 2013 can you help me when i try to put in reverse the sled shut down after 3or4 try they will work but everytime i try is the same problem thanks sorry for my english
Great video, thanks. I did mine last week. Last question, what about the jack shaft and drive bearings on the other side in the chain case? Does the chain case oil get to them or do you repack those bearings with grease as well?
where did you get the vertical mounted LEDs on the front and did you wire them into your headlights? Do they operate off of your stock light switch? Awesome setup!!
Run amsoil cleans the vales as you ride . I run amsoil and will never go back to polaris oil . Check out some of the youtube videos on amsoil and you will see that polaris is not good in cold weather.
Hey man, just seeing this video now i have an identical sportsman and i was wondering what size outlaws are those and do you have any sort of lift on it.
I dont know what i did wrong in the run in process but my 850 only made it to 400 miles and the valves were so gummed up that the thing threw multiple codes and had no power. ves extreme.
Do you absolutely have to undo all those parts to pull the powervalves out? Wouldn't just removing the pipe do the trick? Is the engine bay different from the 800?
