ive been on so many...not so Morally Upright sites AND prime AND netflix and I've only heard the Singaporean one. i mean, i do live in singapore so... and theres another version too isnt there? i swear theres a 4th version 😭😭
The first, Teardrop is the only one that matters. That was the version from season 2 onward in the US broadcast. Reruns in syndication and streaming have the 2nd song, whatever that garbage is.
There’s got to be symbolism with the anatomy they show with each cast credit. House is the brains of course. Cuddy is paired with I guess nerves or blood vessels, being the nerve center/life blood of the hospital. Wilson, being House’s sidekick, is the corpus callosum, uniting the two brain hemispheres and inspiring House to think clearly, piecing together the puzzle. Foreman is the heart and Chase is the backbone of House’s team, and Cameron’s shot of the river pairs with her big picture/humanitarian perspective.
I'm used to hearing the second/third intros because for whatever reason they didn't use Teardrop when I watched it on Amazon Prime and alternated between those two. Teardrop, though, is by far my favorite. I fucking love Massive Attack, and all of the stuff their "major" members have done (particularly Tricky). Elizabeth Frazer *still* sings Teardrop with them (she's just as fantastic as she was then) and the live versions are even better than the studio. The lyrics of Teardrop are not heard in the House intro but they're very poetic and though widely up for interpretation IMO seem to be about grief. Which is somewhat fitting for House.
i know all 3 intros. when i was in indonesia binge watching house, season 1 had the us intro, every season after that had the singaporean version, and back in europe, the (possibly il)legal site i watch house on uses the european intro
I didn't follow House back when it was airing (just 1-2 episodes here and there), but I was familiar with the original theme. I only watched House completely about two years ago through Netflix. I didn't know they had a completely different theme song. It took me until halfway through the second season when I realized I wouldn't hear the original theme.
On Hulu it’s really weird they never use teardrop but the first season they use the European intro and the rest of the series they use the Singaporean intro
Having heard all three themes, the first one (American) is the one I always hear in my head when I think of HOUSE, even though I spent four years watching the European version on South African cable while living in Africa. I miss that brilliant asshole and his whole team something awful.
Teardrop really carries the intro. The other themes just make it seem more generic. "This is a doctor show about doctors" in the same vain as all those police shows. Teardrop sets the right tone about how this is a show about a broken man who is a doctor.
The first one is low key dramatic and tense like a mystery. The second one (my favorite) has such attitude and flavor and sounds like a cool heartbeat; just a sick beat. The last (my second fave) sounds exactly like what a hospital feels like; waiting as time passes, everything sterile, cold and calculating.
