Theme songs 1.American: Massive Attack Teardrop 2. Singaporean: End creadits for House Season 1 3. European: End Creadits for House Season 2-(present) For guitar cover videos: rguitarsmusic
@@Goldfish_Vender Yes, I was referring to Teardrop. I didn't know that is why they changed it. Thanks for letting me know! It's too bad that a copyright issue kept it from being used. :( Watching House M.D. was a very special time in my life.
Teardrop always hits different. It's like, the other two set the pace for a story about a medical team with the lead of a brilliant and sarcastic doctor, whereas Teardrop tells us we are about to hear the story of a broken man.
I think they used Teardrop because the music video for it is a baby in the womb and it looked quite "medical" and human. Elizabeth Fraser's voice sounds like a mother singing to her unborn baby over the sound of a heartbeat. It was a groundbreaking song and video in the late 90s.
@@samsschool3639 I read somewhere a while ago that the baby's facial features were modeled after Elizabeth Fraser. She does have big blue eyes like Hugh Laurie though 😆
As a Prime Video watcher, I almost always hear the Singaporean version, which isn't really my thing. Teardrop is pretty rare and I cheer whenever I hear it. They never play the European version, but it's a banger.
Currently (as of a week ago, at least) the European version is played on most episodes in the 1st season. I’m almost through the 2nd season now, and it’s all the Singapore version. No Teardrop as of yet 😭
My opinion is so biased. This show came out my senior year in high school but I only remember the first version shown. The others don't register AT ALL but I just watched the pilot episode (I came here because the intro was so off to me) and the second one shown here was the one in the pilot episode. My whole life has been turned upside down. LOL
House is the brain Cuddy is the passion running through veins Foreman is the heart Wilson is the equilibrium Chase is the backbone and Cameron is the little boat
Creators say that the images and the actors had nothing in common, they simply used random images. Except for Shore, because he was the "head" (main creator) of the series.
*I'm Mexican and I've always heard the Singaporean and European intros, it's very curious because this is the first time that I listen the original USA version.*
The second one is my favorite... and seeing House's face appear in the middle of the head just shows that he is all about the puzzle and the song makes it fit very well.
The same, i watch episodes every night on TV and it's singaporean intro. I heard that UK has US intro but looks like for other countries it's singaporean intro.
I don't think the whole European/Singaporean thing is right. The third song was the replacement theme mainly for season 1 where Teardrop couldn't be used, and the second song is an updated version for all of the other seasons.
in Switzerland or German TV te singaporean "Intro" is the most common. On DVD, only te second Season has the american Intro, and the singaporean "intro" is in the outro. I know the european intro, but can't say when it appeared in TV, DVD maybe Seasons 3, 6 and 7.
I'm from Germany and I came here because I watched the show today (haven't seen it in a long time) and it had the European theme. I could swear I've never heard it before, even though I've seen one of the episodes before and it was the same channel. I was extremely confused because I'm so used to the Singaporean version.
I live for that first part of the opening where it’s the head and then House’s face like appears. Chills. This is my favorite show of all time. I rewatch my DVDs all the time lol
I agree, it's not even close. I was just watching an episode on the H&I (Heroes & Icons channel on cable) and I think they have the Singapore one playing. I was wondering what the hell was going on because it wasn't the brilliant one I remembered.
I remember when i used to watch this show religiously. The intro always felt so cozy and relaxing and all the characters were interesting. House especially had me intrigued. I gotta rewatch this.
Fun fact: The original intro that David Shore Presented Fox had Jennifer Morrison's background NOT a wide shot of Princeton river, but A broken cane and a spilled Vicodin tablets and a bottle rolling sideways from the cane on the floor. Me personally never have seen it, probably it doesn't exist on the internet, probably because when Shore presented it only as Idea first, Fox objected, so the team agreed to use the Princeton river wide shot to accompany her name in the intro. I think the original version with the cane and bottle would have been much more suitable for the show.
@@scottvelez3154 interesting idea, i recon it would have looked amazing too.. I especially like the spine shot with wilson's name.. Someone needs to make a fan made version with the cane shot & smear shot
You can argue which show is the best all you want. But in my opinion Gregory House is one of the best Characters ever on T.V. I like Sherlock Holmes etc but House is so complex and he is so lost with his life it makes him such an interesting character. Essentially a genius with a broken tormented soul who just cannot find happiness.
+Nickrr1992 I think they are both in the same vein of things. Sherlock has "the puzzle" for crime, and House has the puzzle for illnesses. Both have their vices, and their drastic social disconnects that set them apart from the rest of humanity. You can argue it either way. Sherlock is the House of the murder-mystery world. and House is the Sherlock of the medical world. They are literally the same hyper-intellectual enigma wrapped up into two distinct characters. Sherlock and House are my favorite shows by far, simply because they are so intellectual. Actually feel like i'm getting smarter by watching, instead of dumber by watching other TV dribble.
+Avarice they are actually the same character. Holmes House, Watson is Holmes roommate in 221b Wilson lives with House in apartment 221. Holmes does cocaine house it's pain killers. House was based on Sherlock Holmes all the way
I never even realized these three openings were different. The first one sounds more ominous. I somehow attach it to the episode where a kid gets taken by an alien, then the next shot he's lying down bloody on the garden. I was like 10 and it terrified me but I couldn't stop watching anyway. Easily my favorite non-cartoon show as a kid.
I use this as my primary study music when I’m having long times of reading for exams. I put it on repeat and I get into study mode. And yes I’m aiming to get into medical school!
I went to Princeton while this show was on the air...we used to love yelling "Frist!" (the campus student center) when the title card would show it from the air (at 0:05) 😂
I'll have to check out some more of their songs. That style isn't really what I'm itching to listen to at the moment, thougb. Going through a hard rock phase right now.
***** Do you have Spotify? If so, check out the playlist "For the Love of Rock." Spotify made it and I've been listening exclusively to that for the past couple weeks. If you don't have Spotify, the playlist has Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pantera, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, NIN, Godsmack, The Raconteurs, and plenty more. 4 hours of rock. Not really Beatles and Radiohead stuff, but still rock.
Teardrop (first intro) really fits the whole of the series, I think. It feels clinical in a way that sends chills down your spine, but the deeper notes highlight the emotions so well. But I am a sucker for the Singaporean one, since it was the first one I heard, but it gives the show more of a hopeful feeling that gets me hyped to watch it. The euro one I could honestly care less about
This video made me realize House MD in latin america also uses the singaporean intro. No wonder everytime I looked for the House theme song it played at such a different tone than the one I remembered.
I had to look this up lol. I’ve seen the whole series years ago and I remember it with the first intro, but just started watching it again on Netflix and all the episodes use the third intro.
Started listening this theme song before every exam of my med school and never failed in my 5 years and here i am now i full fleged doctor and listening again for my post graduation entrance exam this theme songs give me goosebumps 1:07
Teardrop is meant for this intro, all the credits pop up in sync with the music, and it even seems kind if ominous when it starts playing after someone collapses and the screen cuts to black. It is the House theme to me.
Classic Pinball I didn't know it was Massive Attack's song until a couple months ago and that moment where I was like "this sounds like the theme to House!" 🤦♀️ Anyway, it's a great song and the vocals really are awesome
I’m currently watching House here on RU-vid and it’s honestly such a disappointment that they don’t use the first theme on here (Teardrop by Massive Attack). As strange as it sounds, one of the reasons this show stood out in my mind after all these years was because they used that song when I first started watching House years ago on tv. It’s such a catchy song. In fact, when I listen to Teardrop, I automatically associate it as the “House opening theme music”.
Same! I always remembered song #1 as the House theme, but now that I’m rewatching the series on Hulu, song #3 was the intro for season 1, and song #2 has been the theme for seasons 2-8. It’s a small thing, but really a disappointment to no longer have that great entrance… I wonder what changed?
My fave will always be the American intro. It gives an ominous feeling of darkness, imminent danger, and miracles in medicine. One of my top 5 favorite intros ever, up with the likes of Mission Impossible and Unsolved Mysteries, lol.
Doomguy the european one is awesome too, but im always used to the second one, but hearing the american one ruins the entire show for me, i cant find anywhere to stream it where its not the american or european one, this really pisses me off..
I'm a resident and the previous owner of my pager set the ringtone with this theme. I'm so grateful because it feels really cool when it rings while I'm walking through the hospital corridors 😎
Love how IMO the intros for the selected seasons of the show kind of show of the vibe of each part, the first couple seasons is the crew having fun and it's the intro in the middle, the next is funky with the first one, the last is also last kinda dark n serious
This is the best TV show of all time. Fuck off Breaking Bad, fuck off The Walking Dead and fuck off Game Of Thrones. Not saying those are bad shows, but nothing comes close to the genius that is House.
Platformadam I have self-esteem issues? Why, then, are you the one making sure to contradict yourself by saying House is great after I questioned your mental capabilities? It seems to me like you really need to make sure that everyone knows that you're not stupid. I can deal with you thinking I'm an asshole, I really don't care. You seem to lack that healthy level of indifference toward internet strangers. And also you seem to lack basic school education as your grammar is absolutely abhorrent. Yeah, you're right, I'm an asshole. Go cry me a river, you dimwitted, lobotomized preschool-dropout.
Yeah, and unfortunatly this version inst included in the teardrop - massive, is a totally different tune that i never found the name, maybe it was done for the show itself. The european and the american, (second and first ones) used parts from teardrop - massive. I really like all of them, but i think the third one is my favorite too
Mmmh shivers of nostalgia~ I remember the second one was the one used in France in my childhood, and the third one is the one used mainly on Prime Video
I happened to get the European version at the first season, then the Singaporean for the rest up to season 6. Season 6 to 8 had the American intro for me. As a as-hardcore-as-it-gets House fan, I consider the European and Singaporean version much more fitting with the initial character of the show, and the blunt, calculated ingenuine medicine, but as the show progresses and we get to sympathize and see much more of House's character development, the new, much more House revolving plot telling matches like a charm the emotionally charged intro of Massive Attack. You get to feel the struggle and agony House has to go through in his effort to change himself.
This made me become a doctor… …Almost I'm in the third year, in USP South America 2nd best med school And it all started with that episode of the kid who saw aliens. If one day I see Hugh Larie I'll probably hug him while crying
Amazon Prime has all three versions on some of the episodes. My favorite one was the "Fox" Version though (#1). When I used to watch it when it was showing on TV, the Fox Version always caught my attention.
I remember the original one (teardrop) as the first ones but in reruns they all have a different theme either two or three. I've heard all three but I think on Fox, peacock and online
Why all of them are great: American: The beat is steady at first, but the notes begin to go up per single octave which hypes you up for the show. Singaporean: The screech with the slow bit and the guitar riff gives the show a sort of detective and brainy look. A great way to represent what the show is about. European: The loud nature and fast tempo also hypes you up for the show. It's also a boppy, so the theme sort of makes you ready for what's about to come. I personally love the European one the most, then the Singaporean.
Im watching House on Netflix in the US but I only hear the Singapore version. I am used to it now so the American version sounds really weird to me....
Riley Johnson Right? Hahah. I looked up Teardrop to listen to it and was surprised it wasn't the theme I was used to. I wonder why Netflix has a different theme.
Riley Johnson I'm watching on Netflix but I only hear the European version because I'm brazilian and here they use it in the dubbed version, but I don't know if it's only in the first season.
I'm almost done for the last season and I just realized there's three opening theme songs?!?? I always see in the subtitles say (Massive Attack's teardrop) but I mostly got the Singaporean version. I knew on some rare occasions I hear a different opening and I get chills. But now I'm so used to Singaporean version it's just the canon for me. They all sound similar anyway and each slaps on its own, I ain't complaining whichever I get.
