You can hear it right? The beginning of this theme is a remix of the title music for the original Red and Blue. Gold has traveled through Kanto, seeing the results of Red's journey, and now he stands before the actual legend himself. Pokemon GSC's journey ends where the first began. And the fight starts with the very first Pokemon song we ever heard.
You climb Mt. Silver, in hopes of a rare treasure. But instead, all you see is *him.* The boy who tamed a thousand Pokémon, bested the Gym Leaders of his time, won their badges and even triumphed over the Elite Four. However, he wished not to be seen as the Champion, only as a Trainer. His name: Red. And he only has one goal in mind: to battle only the bravest Trainers who ever dare to tread on Mt. Silver. And once you approach him, all you see is: *Pkmn Trainer Red wants to battle!* And _that's_ when you know... The kid you used all those years ago WAS Red. The boy who tamed all those Pokémon and became the best was you in the days of old. And now, you have one final opponent that stands between you and the ultimate trophy. *The climatic Pokémon Battle of the decade was about to go down in history.*
When I look at the art and the title while listening to the song, I just get the image of Red fighting Gold at a grand tournament for number 1. Red is the newcomer, the underdog, while Gold is the resident champion. Everyone but Gold thinks Red's gonna lose, but Gold knows Red is a worthy opponent. Despite knowing that, he still has his pride as a champion, looking down on Red. He looks at Red mockingly. Red gazes back determined and eyes facing straight, neither underestimating Gold nor taking his taunting gaze to heart. The music starts and the announcer says "Ladies and Gentlemen, the moment you've all been waiting for. The Pokémon Grand Tournament Final Battle!" Gold says to Red, somehow with a paradoxical mix of contempt and respect, and in a typical young sounding voice, "You really think you can beat me, Red?". Red replies back, his expression unfaltering, "I guess we're about to find out, Gold." The music reaches 0:20, and the announcer screams, "Contestants! FIGHT!" The music swings into full gear. Edit: I don't know the lore, I know I should, but it looks like, from the comments, that gold is supposed to be the challenger, but I wrote Red as the challenger based on how cocky Gold looks in the art, since champions are supposed to be the cocky ones in my opinion, so I wont change my little fanfic here. it's fiction anyway.
I remember this song thanks to a video called "Pokemon Silent Film", I think the video is not available anymore because the thumbnail showed a human hand with a poke ball
