Australia didn’t have the service of McGrath and Warne in home series earlier that year against india…They came back + Fully fit Gillespie and Kaspowitch and that was game over for india at home Shane Warne on 4th test at that pitch in Mumbai would have finished india instead of Hauritz but understandable because the series was won he was rested
This Grame Smith scoundrel is responsible for throwing Lance Klusener out from RSA Team saying to RSA Cricket Board that he is spoiling youngsters, infesting change in something, arrogant and board blindly believed this incapable fellow. Only Klusener suffered post WC2003 & got expelled, otherwise don't know if he would have reached further greater heights and would have continued for T20Is era, bad luck.
It's incredible to see a scorecard showing 59/0 in 14 overs or so in this day and age where scoring 100s has become a reality and certainly having a score of 70+ a norm. And the fun fact is both the teams playing here scored identical runs around that over mark showing it was a norm back in the day (mind you If Australia were the top team in that era, NZ were the number 2). This makes me wonder and fill me with gratitude that we had unsung players like Virender Sehwag who used to score team 100s in 14-17 overs (on his day) against any attack and anywhere in the world. I must say, had Sehwag started his career in this era, he would have certainly scored 300 runs in his ODI innings.
The series was literally s nightmare for team India. I used to look at the result in newspaper (since we dint have the cable connection at house) & would always be disappointed at the news of India losing. NZ back then had some extremely bowler friendly pitches.
