Notice how 3 batters in this match have 24+ Test hundreds (not even counting Clarke/Smith who ended with 28/27 hundreds themselves), compare it with today where only 4 batsmen have 24+ Test hundreds in all test teams combined. That's how much Test batting standards have fallen after the T20 revolution.

That's called the transition phase. Every decade has faced this situation.

Probably due to less Tests played by countries outside of the top 3. Not due to lower centuries. Comparing averages may be a better indicator.

@@Nash5599 That's because of the current pitches. Pitches in the 2000's were flatter and stats prove the same. Test match pitches these days are tougher

That series was played on absolutely flat decks because Africa didn't have pacers that time to take 20 wickets. Steyn , Morkel didn't make their debut at that time, Donald retired from test cricket, only Ntini & 34 years old Pollock were the decent fast bowlers for South Africa.

11:40 what do we all think to the LBW decision? I'd say just marginally outside leg stump. Great game nevertheless, SA vs AUS always great to watch.
