If that might help you regarding sizing and issue you are having between 55 last and Northwest last... Having a pair of Cruiser, Cutter and Logger from White's all in 55 last, I'm going half size down from Brannock so from 12 Brannock, I'm going to 11.5 D. But while talking with White's Customer Service regarding different lasts they have and fitting around each last, they've advised me to go true to Brannock on their NW last and 610 last. Maybe this is applying also to Nicks HNW last, explaining why you have the issue with the boot length being too short. 55 last having a more more arch is shortens the foot instead of HNW last where the foot being less supported is spreading more in the boot hence you need a 1/2 size up in the Overlander.
I’ll do a video one of these days with a full update. It remains in this exact condition as I strong disagree with modding classics as much as possible. The biggest update is it has doubled in value since I bought it in 2017 🤙🏿
@@gabeah I have a 2015 C4S manual transmission, but have always longed for the 1988. I've test driven an 1988 briefly, but not sure if I should get rid of my current 911 for the 1988. I drive less than 1000 miles/year. Sadly, i can't have both around. Thoughts?
@@jyang747 man they are so different, they aren't really a substitute for each other. I have a 2016 911 GTS that is my more practical car for longer drives and when it's hot. for me, the 88 is a weekend mountain twisties and "nicer errands" car.
I’m a 12.5 in Nike and adidas . I wear a 12D in wesco and franks ( same 55 last) typically I’m a 12 in most boots or vintage style sneakers like vans or converse
Having just transferred the money over on my own 06' Sport 1000 purchase, and patiently waiting for the bike to ship, I'm cruising RU-vid to scratch the itch. What. A. Find...this is the exact bike. Thanks for the video - awesome to have your perspective on the mods. It was well taken care of, and going to another very appreciative home!
Wow, you bought this exact bike? I sold it to a guy in Orange County CA in I think 2019 or 2020 before I moved to CO. I put a ton of time and love into customizing it. It started out as the red version and had the old super heavy wire wheels. Where is it going next?
Yes - same owner you sold to, who has since relocated to the DC area. Bike is coming back West to Vancouver.. The bike is still perfect, and just had to comment. Dream spec bike.@@gabeah
Did you upgrade your king springs from 550 to 700s? I didn't hear you mention what lb spring you were running. I am running a cutout front steel bumper with a 12k winch and some CBI Skids and the 550s are not cutting it for me.
No, the goal was to minimize weight, so there is a 10k on winch w synthetic rope, a mostly aluminum front bumper and RCI aluminum skids. I did not need to change front coils. After 5 years I wouldn’t change a thing. Steel parts are unnecessary weight for my purposes living and off roading here in CO.
I own a pair of Robert’s and Overlander’s. When breaking each pair in the individual boots def had a different feel because they were hand made. Once they break in they feel perfect. They form to your foot. I love mine.
Funny watching this video again. This is same thing that happened to me. The HNW Last does not run large like Nicks suggests. It runs 1/2 size shorter than the 55/67 Lasts. If you know know your size in the 55/67 go up 1/2 on the HNW. I like this guy also sold my HNW Overlanders as they ran too small.
🤘🏼I got my foot measured on a Brannock device and sent that to Nicks and the sizing is damn perfect. I’m waiting for my 3rd pair of Nicks going on 8 months for this pair, they should be here in a couple of weeks. 😁 I’ve been alternating breaking in my builder pro and my nicks weather-shield for 12 hours 5 days a week. But I’m driving a tow truck so I’m not really walking the whole time so it’s much easier to be in my boots all day. ❤
2:00 Teton Tan? Nicks marketing department are operating at genius level. I have never in my life wanted anything that is Cardboard coloured more than I want these boots.
Good point about the centre locks. A GTS with no centerlocks? Who does that? I feel the same with my Lava Orange '15 Gen 1 GTS with ducktail. They are amazing Porsches.
@gabeah ...Interesting. I wear a 12 sneaker, and my Wesco Jobmasters are 11.5EE, so by their recommendation, I ordered my Robert's in 11 EE. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.
How’s putting on the urban loggers without the pull tab? I’m thinking of ordering a custom pair and wondering if I should go with the pull tab or not? What’s your advice on the pull tab?
Not fully. I resorted to pushing/pounding it down a bit with the end of a baseball bat, and that made it a little better. Now that time has passed, I like the boots, but for my purposes, I think they are overrated and not worth the wait.
@@gabeah that's a good idea! I'm gonna give my builder pros I just got the 80- 100 hours and then maybe give that a whirl it's not terrible but just more noticeable on my outside left arch.
man on the UL I have same on the right foot but after 100 hrs they fit perfect and feel so good its the leather break in and high landers its the last that its build on toe box is so different from the 55 or 67 last even the HNW I have a pair travelers and the last on that is complete different then my Falcons or UL Breaking boot that was the worst for me was the Travelers 2 years to break in Man they feel great and the sized wrong to long and narrow for my foot but I'm vary stubborn I picked up used and to that date most expensive but I love them now !! I love PNW boots period
Love the smoker’s package. What’s that iPhone holder? I backtracked but couldn’t make out the name. Silver’s great but I love my Lava Orange PTS + ducktail too. They really are special Porsches. Glad I chose this over the Gen 2,and the noise…. Oh, the noise!
It’s weird how sizing is all over the place for people. I am an 11.5D on brannock and wear 11-11.5 in most boots, except Oak Street Bootmakers, which I needed to go up to a 12 for toe room. I also wear 12 in sneakers (except converse, which I wear 11.5). I ended up ordering an 11E in Nicks (11067 last) and they fit well. I have a little toe room, but they seem like the right size. I can even wear a medium thickness sock without issues, but a thick sock makes heel/arch area too right. I guess it really requires people to try different boots to find the best fit. Edit: I ordered an HNW boot in same size and the toe box is very tight. I almost think you need to order brannock size in the HNW last.
Ahh man, I measured 10c on the brannock( I got digitally scanned by redwing) and I ordered the overlanders in 9.5d. God I hope I ordered the right size!
@@johnfloyd4243 still waiting, lol. I placed my order on Sept 27 going on 6 months but now again they're out of black cxl. I don't know man. It's going to be a while before I get them.
@@johnfloyd4243 alright man, I got them on May 13th and I can safely say they're pretty close to finally being broken in. So with my experience I'm glad I went with 9.5 d width. The boots hugged my feet perfectly! Had I gone with a C width they would have been too tight. It almost seems the HNW last is pretty narrow. So if you're a 11D on the brannock it would better if u went to a 11 E width. Like I said this last runs a little narrow. But man, these boots are awesome! I waited 8 months and two weeks for these badass boots!! Break in period was definitely tough! I constantly had to massage the boots to loosen up all those leather fibers. Hope this helps.
I wear size 8 running shoe, (a tight fit with just a little space for my feet to swell when I run), what size do you recommend I buy in the overlander?
Been on there a while, no issues other than needing to lube the locking swing gate pin from time to time. The bumper has well exceeded my expectations. Really well designed.
Thanks for the video. I wear a 10.5D in Redwing Moc Toes and Iron Rangers. I just put my order through for 10.5 D Urban Loggers that were On Nicks ready to order site. Boot sizes are crazy. I wear an 11.5 in Danner or Thorogood. Sizing is the most difficult
Thank you for this video. My sizing sounds exactly the same as yours. The info about how the different lasts 55 vs HNW gives me much more info about sizing Nicks. Appreciate the detail!
How long did you wait for urban loggers I like the loggers but they’ve got the “classic configuration” listing and I’m confused if I’ll be waiting 4-6 months or 2-3 months I’m willing to wait a few months but 4 is a little long for me
No don't sell the overlander finish the break in period first don't forget the boots are made with leather and leather stretches and compresses and it will mold to your foot over time just wait out the break in trust me it will stretch out if you continue wearing the with the thick socks
I have 2 pairs of Nick's. One is on the 55 last and the other on the HNW moderate last. I am the same size on both. Both are Builder Pro's. One is 10" smooth black uppers with rough out lowers on the 55 last with black V100 soles. The other is 8" chocolate all smooth on the moderate arch with honey Vibram soles
