This is a walk-around video of my 06 Monoposto that I converted from the red version to the black version.
Mods are some powder coating, OZ wheels, Zard Exhaust, orange clutch cover, shortened license bracket, red to black bodywork and tank, S4 fully adjustable forks, Ohlins rear shock. Brown grips, Woodcraft rearsets and high rise bars, Rizoma fluid reservoirs, CRG levers, Rizoma rear view bar end mirror. Diablo Rosso 3s.

Having just transferred the money over on my own 06' Sport 1000 purchase, and patiently waiting for the bike to ship, I'm cruising RU-vid to scratch the itch. What. A. Find...this is the exact bike. Thanks for the video - awesome to have your perspective on the mods. It was well taken care of, and going to another very appreciative home!

Wow, you bought this exact bike? I sold it to a guy in Orange County CA in I think 2019 or 2020 before I moved to CO. I put a ton of time and love into customizing it. It started out as the red version and had the old super heavy wire wheels. Where is it going next?

Yes - same owner you sold to, who has since relocated to the DC area. Bike is coming back West to Vancouver.. The bike is still perfect, and just had to comment. Dream spec bike.@@gabeah

You got awesome tastes in bikes. This made me think of my 2000 Ducati 750 SuperSport that I sold after owning it for 10 years. Loved that bike and yours!

such a shame Ducati discontinued these after what, 4 years or so? They are easily the nicest looking bike line Ducati has ever made imo, and the one time I had the privilage of test driving a Bispoto I nearly bought one finances be damned, the thing just rode so nice compared to the cheaper cafe style bikes I was used to. I have built a number of Cafe style bikes but they are usually old honda CB motors, and while fun they don't even come close to something from Ducati. One day I will find the right one. I have red 07 bipost and really like the black. Did you source out new tank, cowl, and fender that were black or did you have a paint shop respray? Digging your mods to her btw not over the top but still holding true to the classic.

@andrew keller Thanks. It started as a red one that had tank expansion problems, so the tank was replaced under warranty, so that's when I swapped for black. I then bought the black cowl and front fender. I was able to sell the red parts and it was almost break even.

Nicely done man, I have an 06 S2R1000 Monster which has the same engine as this bike with a Zard exhaust and its a riot. Do you mind telling me what type of clutch slave cylinder you have? Mine has the same but I dont know the name of the brand.

Thanks man, I love the sound of Zard. I replaced my Termis, and the Zard are 100% better sounding. I believe the clutch slave is Oberon. Cheers brotha!

@gabeah Really dig the bike and the mods you've made. I just picked up a monoposto myself about a month ago. Do you remember the brand of the grips you are using? I'm also looking for more vintage inspired grips with open ends.

Will Liu thanks will, funny I searched far and wide for a vintage looking grip and loved these brown ones when I finally found them. I'm not home, but I can probably find the receipt somewhere. I'm pretty sure they are Italian grips I sourced that larger LA based Ducati retailer with a big online presence. I'll try and find the name..

Just found them -Tommaselli grips in brown. Online and eBay.

Thanks for taking the time to look! I ended up picking up some Ariete grips who I guess is the manufacture for Tommaselli these days. Hope you're getting some time on the bike. And btw, great air cooled 911. I've been looking on/off for one as well. The chase is half the fun with these things tho ;)

Beautiful bike man and very informative. I’m interested in getting one right now and actually am in a situation where our locations are switched (I’m in la bike is in the Bay Area). It has about 9000 miles on it and guy is asking 13k. First is this a reasonable price and if not what would be reasonable. He said he’s a 3rd owner it’s a 2006 monoposto. Also do you have any recommendations to facilitate a deal when I’m located in LA and he is in the Bay Area so I don’t get scammed?

Dan5378 price all depends on the bike. Sounds right for a fairly stock bike. For something with more mods closer to 15-16k is also in the ballpark. I’m about to sell mine, so been watching prices closely. I live in Venice near Abbot Kinney if you want an LA bike and want to see it.

How did you get your rearsets in black? they only have silver ones for woodcraft? also are you using the levers from the kit or the stock ones? and why?

SSimpson408 I had the rearsets black anodized. I am using stock levers. I have the woodcraft levers, but never got around to putting them on. The brake and clutch levers are CRG iirc.

Jason Shershefsky I like them both, but don't ride a passenger so the mono is good for my purposes. They also made the mono for only one year, the biposto for 3 I believe.. The rear end on the mono is def cleaner and a bit more trick with monoshock to my eye. 🤙🏼

There are only three painted parts on the bike besides the frame. The cowl, the front fender and the tank. I sold my red fender and seat cowl, then purchased new factory black replacement parts. The red tank was replaced under warranty for the famous expansion issues, so i requested a black one as a replacement. Worked out to (nearly) an even swap and is all OEM paint/parts. Cheers!
