The Honorable Minister is actually not addressing the problem entirely though he sounds more objective than many I have heard on this topic. The problem lies in the methods used by immigration officials to identify Ugandan Banyarwanda from Rwandese! He is not addressing this “stand off!” I deliberately call it a “stand off” because I haven’t heard any other group of Ugandans in this “Border” category who have put up such a high spirited struggle to have their rights re-instated! According to what I have learnt, Ugandan Banyarwanda seem to be divided almost the way it was in Rwanda between 1959 and 1994! It’s like there’s a dominant group among them that’s employed at the immigration which seems to make it unnecessary hard, if not impossible, for members of the other group to have Passports and eventually National ID’s as per one group’s fears! (Refer to Prof. Kabwegyere vs Gashumba’s talk on RU-vid!) Immigration officials use these people (to be exact, the Bafumbira) to identify genuine Ugandan Banyarwanda! I’ve heard that these ask for proof of Ugandan Citizenship which is usually presented, like any other Ugandan. But, when one mentions he/she is a Munyarwanda by tribe, (or worse still when the responsible immigration officer identifies his/her physical looks as those of a Munyarwanda especially of the other group - incidentally these have always been fixed by their physical looks, unfortunately), the guy/s ask for the telephone contacts of the parents as well as the Graduated tickets and burial places of the grandparents🙆♂️! Some affected Ugandan Banyarwanda have testified that even where the very few, of course, succeed to present these almost impossible documents to find, the immigration official picks up a phone and talks to an unsuspecting parent of the applicant in Kinyarwanda! The moment the parent speaks fluent Kinyarwanda, the applicant is considered Rwandese and is not only denied a Passport, his/her documents are allegedly confiscated, including the National ID, and some actually end up in prison allegedly! This has caused total confusion to Ugandan Banyarwanda as these cannot be accepted in Rwanda as Rwandese! Sincerely, how many Ugandans here have access to Graduated Tickets etc of their grandparents or …! Birth Certificates are becoming an issue in modern Uganda times - His excellency himself acknowledged not knowing the exact date of his birth as he doesn’t have a Birth Certificate! Our mothers used to give birth to many of us on Banana trees, deep down in village!😂 Be serious, people! Why only Banyarwanda complaining🤷♂️! Many Banyarwanda are not sedentary by culture! They keep moving from place to place in search for greener pastures, like many pastoralists! That’s why they are spread all over Uganda and not able to point to a particular area as their locus! Such people may not be able to locate even graves of their parents, like the Baganda do! These people bury their people and move on to other places where they settle and so on! Many First World Countries identify their Citizens by their birth places! This has been denied to Ugandan Banyarwanda for whatever reasons God knows and the devil doubts! They pleaded to be allowed to get identified by their local authorities etc. And this has been denied them! Now, who is to blame!! Can you imagine waking up one day disenfranchised and have no country to call your country! Where do you go🤷♂️?
Uganda can not be led by njaga person.Museveni long live.For bobi for lead uganda he has to first change his tang how he speaks. How can you say that your clever than the old persons. That means according to his speach old persons are useless,is that realy sence then you find some people supporting such aperson. I pray to Allah uganda should not be led by such people.
Some people are forgetting that nup will never lead this nation but uganda must continue. Lop boycotting the national programmes is un believeable. How is God going to entrust you with leadership. Watch and see! You are a disappointment.
Besides that, government allowing their people making Ugandans more poor by allowing money lenders giving money to desperate poor Ugandans for money, unfair pay back period, unfair interest rates, unfair debt collection methods with alot of harassment imagine holding IDs of which government claiming it belongs to them.
If I don't hear them talking about dying education system where these people are making money from selling exams to schools without considering syllabus converage and without marking guides teachers can't score 50% and the best student from village schools gets 20% but ministry of education is just quite on it.
Since when you understand it are you in Uganda you came in yesterday or to tells us you want to know things from Gulu GASIYA bulolo how many years you woman that's nonsense in the big highest level
Fine, check Kitgum also, children and sons of God are suffering down there in villages, nothing to eat, nothing to put on and you guys you are enjoying. Let actions speak louder than words. For God and my country.
You can even send Hon. Nandutu she can get issues from village level Hon. Speaker to save your time in karamojja for the iron sheets we can negotiate in exchange of valley dams.
Hon Nandutu who is still battling theft/corruption charges? You people need your own country to run the way you want. Stop bringing down the whole nation with your lack of objectivity.
Hon. Speaker we also in kotido we kindly request you to bring Parliament in our town and see our problems maybe God will pardon us. Water for irrigation, security to us and our animals The rest we will manage. For the iron sheets we will work and buy when God provides.
Stop electing under-educated, unexposed, inexperienced & unaccomplished leaders. STOP! If a federal referendum comes up, be brave enough to vote to have your own regional government. If you vote badly, we will not support our taxes being used to come "see" your problems.
