Gary remains the best of the best. His books and presentations changed my life. My doctors are nice people but I should be at least some evidence that what they preach is wrong.
Well done Tim and the great team that supported you. That was really good information. I’m now very low carb high fat carnivore and feeling better all the time
Out of date for the part were it is almost correct, and for the larger part, wrong and incomplete, and sometimes even blind and weird conclusions. Finally supporting the idea that there is no personal responsibility. Let us assume a person is not active, eating wrong and eating too much, and gaining mass with a rate of 3 kilogram per year. After 5 y, which is not a long time span, it sums up too 15 kilos. From here, the person inside that body will register the weight gain rather easily. A branching point has been reached: either the person assigns relevance or NOT. If she does, then another branching occurs: is it worth the expected inconvenience by feeling hungry, or NOT? by changing the life style? There are enough examples of people that demonstrate that nobody dies from being hungry when being 15 kilos overweight. "hormonal dysregulation" as you call it, is not a primary cause. Refined starches are NEITHER ! I have a constant body weight since 40y, and I do eat past, Austrian pastries, white rice. And yes, sometimes i do fasting and I am hungry then, I do even resistance training after a 20h fast. The issue is n the head of the obese person, nowhere else. Because the head assigns the relevance of sth, not the body.
He’s giving a history of how obesity was studied in the past, and yes, those studies are out of date. Calories in calories out isn’t the cause of weight gain or weight loss. It’s not in the head. It’s a persons hormones that drive weight gain or weight loss, and the types of food we eat, not the caloric content. Not to mention sugar and carb addiction, which is very real. Just as difficult to overcome as alcoholism or any other addiction.
Keep the best til the end? I've never seen that insulin Vs fat turnover graph and personal variation in the inflection point potentially explains so mucg. Thank you Gary
Without claiming to be an sports nutritionist, I know that it largely depends on type of sport and fat adaptation. You might want to check research by Steve Phinney, Jeff Volek and/or Tim Noakes to find out more about your situation.
He recommended in other videos that athletes can consume 100-120g the day before an event and anywhere from 20-60g per hour during exercise (dependent on the athlete)
The kind soul still feels a bit bad about recommending carbs. Love you tim. I'm so happy to eat fat and can't fat shame myself any more as i have way less fat on me. I came across two metabolically broken, obese neighbors that are willing to learn. But it's hard to get them started on what works for them. Fat and protein is a good start.
As a Dutch person I love that this view is now also getting ground in the Netherlands , I hope it will become the standard and that the ‘house doctors’ will also be educated. Instead of ‘eat less, move more’ they could present a better solution to the patients. The food guidelines must change and it should be in the school curriculum.
As I volunteer of the Ancestral Health Stichting I completely agree. It would be wonderful if general practicioners knew more about all this! We try our best!
If you are in an energy deficit of course you will lose weight. This is true. It is also the conventional approach. However its hard for many people to do because 1 they will be hungry 2 they risk having a deficit of essential nutrients. Personally i have found that while eating low carb I eat until I am full, but while doing so I have resolved fatty liver and lost weight. There has been no struggle to ignore hunger and resist eating
@@jermainerace4156 50g/day is 200 kcal. I can eat six pounds of potatoes every day and still lose weight. But going processed food, that's less than a pound of chips.
Only a real man can admit he was wrong. That’s why there are very few real men in politics and science. They refuse to admit their mistakes despite the evidence. Good on you Tim.
One of my biggest problem when studying metabolism: Muscle biopsy has been discovered in 1960s.... they knew about musclr fibers and their respective metabolism. The white ones are explosive, low in blood supply, get atp from glycogen or creatine. The red ones get it from fats and no sugar, and are endurant. The intermediate uses both for both endurance and/or explosive. The red ones are much smaller, the white ones are bigger. Only the red ones have mitochondria... How, HOW, didn't more scientist realize that mitochondria runs much better on fats and oxygen ONLY, and that carbs damage them, and is purely anaerobic. The work done on type IIx muscle and athletes is literally the biggest proof that anything with a mitochondria (the brain is literally the most dense of it) needs BLOOD AND FATS. Don't even get me started on ketones, it's like no one took a look at the Krebs cycle (the acetate part of acetyl coa... necessary to even start the cycle). At this point I just think that most scientists in biology are a bunch of idiots. I think that of most of my professors and most studies published are absolute waste of time and paper. Academia and Industry, hell the body of scientific consensus is extremely dissapointing. And the fact that we dont have lots of attention on these subjects proves my point.
@@2adamast high carb sports is absolutely stupid, low carb sports and lifestyle added with higher quantities of fats, especially after burning bodyfat is the way.
That is the problem with having a hypothesis from only one branch of science when there are so many. It is really very limited to speak from a biochemical, biological or physiological point of view. For that there is causal inference and only one of the 9 criteria is biology, even more so, biology is the least important. Science is broad, evidently never read Hill or Greenland. But yes, let me tell you that you have a very small mind and that you will only create confusion for people who do not know science. I won't waste time answering you, my goal is that your argument is the most limited I've seen on RU-vid. And anyone who reads this and knows the causality criteria will agree with me. All the best!
Carbs induce more oxigen consumption by muscle mitochondrium as a result of depleting tisular potassium and causing insulin resistance. THANKS YOU, PROFESSOR. SINCE PERU. JAJG.
Great recording! Ty! Sorry you do not put the presentation full screen, but thats a minor thing. Muskiet gives a top-presentation on where we are today!
HOE IK GENEZEN VAN DIABETES DOOR DR. MUSTAFA. Hallo, mijn naam is Eric Jackson.
