Chip is the OG Baker and then when Into the Woods was in NYC Central Park he played Cinderella’s Father and the Mysterious Man. I did Into the Woods years ago and miss it a lot
So if one criticizes it honestly musically and lyrically they’re a misogynist? Got it. That sounds so diverse, inclusive and equitable. It’s like the Emperor’s New Clothes. It’s mediocre musically and lyrically and preachy and pretentious regardless of the subject matter. Zero objectivity or self examination and takes itself way too seriously to ever be entertaining. It’s actually very sad that this is considered empowering for women when it’s so mediocre and mundane musically. There’s more soul and female energy and talent in Ella singing “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” or Astrid Gilberto singing “Girl From Ipanema” than this entire cast yelling and fist pumping about their perceived oppression.
Jeremy Strong is an insufferable actor, but God damn if this isn't the most Jeremy Strong thing I've heard him say. 👏 To this absolutely dedicated acting sociopath.
I was at that matinee! The audience clapped and screamed for a full minute while he held that pretend Tony even though his back was to us. It was so electric that Jonathan broke character and said, "thank you" to us after. It was an unforgettable moment!
So happy for him. He’s proved himself a stage talent and worked very hard to get to this point. This is very much deserved and I hope he continues to hone his style in live theatre. He’s an asset.
I saw the show the night before the Tonys and absolutely loved it! Everyone was truly exceptional! But, this young lady's gifts and talents left me all but speechless! Maleah Joi Moon gave one of the most seamless, all-in, and best performances I have had the blessing to see!! Great voice, easy-to-belive acting, beautiful, AND she can dance! God bless you, Miss Moon, this is only the beginning. 🙏 Congratulations!! 🎉
