Ramin was fantastic but this show was an ensemble with an amazing cast. Everyone was so talented and it was a privilege to see them all on the same stage.
I saw Bride wasn’t in anything else since Parade. I would love to see him do something else after this. They talk of taking Titanic to Broadway but Ramin is so busy he probably wouldn’t be in it. Too bad!
It ran for two years, won 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical and came out the year before the movie which actually helped its ticket sales, and had a successful National Tour. It didn’t fail.
It didn't fail. It won best musical at the Tony Awards, had a great 2 year run, went on the road for a couple more years and has been performed by Australian opera, a tremendous Austin Shaw production filmed for the big screen, countless community theaters and high productions ever since. The Austin Shaw production is available DVD and blu-ray on Amazon starting July 10.
What is special about the Encore production is that it doesn’t rely on sets, staging or technology. It focuses on the music and the artists in a minimalist way. They had ten days to rehearse and had playbooks during some of the scenes. The cast is incredible and it was a privilege to be able to see so many talented actors together on stage at the same time.
