He's wealthy and can easily pay a native French-speaking tutor to give him private lessons. I LIVED and STUDIED in France, too, and even students in C1 French class, who have been studying for years struggle. So, yes, Cooper likely had some immersion, but he has likely had some sessions with a tutor along the way.
