I felt like Rolling Stone more or less dissed Jackson by only including 3 of his albums in the best 500 albums of all time list. I would have included at least 2 more, his debut album "Jackson Browne" aka "Saturate Before Using" and his first live album "Running on Empty". There are 2 or 3 more that I wouldn't have been surprised if they were included, but the 2 I mentioned, for sure!!
I am an Australian and in 1973 we had a show on the ABC ( a government ad free station). called "Room to move" hosted by Chris Winter and he played obscure and new stuff that the commercial stations didn't go near. I'm forever grateful for that magic night when I heard a JB song .I was in my final year of high school , a middle class 17 year old, a comfortable life but also unable to articulate what seemed wrong around me and sensitive and with a crap detector. Bought "Forever man" then " Saturate" and was taken away on what has been a 51year old friendship with a person I have never spoken to. Annoying house mates friends and family with my obsession with the lyrics and musical feel one friend reckoned that we played the album "late for the sky" so often ( along with tubular bells , blood on the tracks, Dark side of the moon, horses , rumours) that we could hear both sides at once. How does he manage to make Melancholia warming and uplifting. Touched by the guy in so many ways
Amazing list, i agree with almost all of it instead though at #4 i would have put Garth Brooks honoring Billy Joel singing Allentown and Goodbye Saigon the ending when the vets come out to sing gives me goosebumps and at 6 i would have put James Taylor and Mavis Staple honoring Paul Mccartney

Interesting point but does it though? He can be off the grid from an energy and infrastructure perspective and then power his internet through renewable energy etc. I don’t think it means he’s a hermit or a nomad 😂 Thanks for watching!
The first five albums up to and including Running on Empty were brilliant. Late for the Sky and For Everyman were exceptional. IMHO, beyond the 1970's to present day there are perhaps a dozen solid classic individual songs from various patchy albums that could collectively make up another combined awe-inspiring album.
My top 5 5. The Pretender 4. I'm Alive ( and yes, it feels like side 2 of Late For The Sky) 3. Running On Empty 2. Debut ( Saturate Before Using ) 1. Late For The Sky
Cellist Yo Yo Ma's tribute is one of my all time favorites. Stephen Colbert's funny introduction, the look at Ma's development into a world class cellist, and his journey to experience the world's music beyond classical. The musical tribute is wonderful with the many musicians Ma has worked with performing the distinctive music they represent. It is not often that a classical artist tribute is the closer for the Kennedy Center Honors, but it was such a spirited and touching celebration that you can see how much the audience enjoyed it and how happy and touched Yo Yo Ma was.
I’m sorry but this list not including Yolanda Adams’s “Georgia on my Mind” for James Brown or even her performance of “Reach Out and Touch” for Diana Ross means I can’t take it seriously. Come on now.
For me, I'm quite thrilled that Heart and all the musicians got the number 1 spot, but I really feel Steven Tyler's McCartney tribute should be up there, too.
