The Italian says...well we decided to go without the sherpas, at night, because this is K2 and you dont get a second chance...No you dont get a second chance if you die. You always wil have a second chance if you live. If you dont have a death wish
It kills me they talk about visiting the memorial before taking their assent and not one person talks of how much it makes them feel like living. No it only makes them feel like dying...lol. i mean i feel like they are all insane. They have just lost something in the mind. I mean its no different than a junky on drugs.
WOW, "sometimes going up means you may not come down, and so you have to weigh out which goal is more important to you..." just wow man. These idiots have death wishes
Absolutely Stunning Documentary!! One of the best videos I’ve ever seen. Gorgeous brilliant quality pictures and superb music and quality narration. Love this⭐️🏔️
Despite the Angel Falls being beautiful, it is not the tallest. Just for the record: The tallest waterfall in the world is the Tugela Falls, located in the Drakensberg Mountains, South Africa, 983m (3225 ft)
K2 has to be the scariest mountain to look at! The incredibly steep slopes, the unpredictable weather, the extreme danger and technical difficulties. That enormous serac and the traverse of the bottleneck is so unforgiving, I get nervous and twitchy just watching it!
Does the producers realize that the area on "top" now is the remnant of the old surface of the whole area. Erosion caused the remaining old surface to seem to rise up, when actually there has been erosion to lower part of the surface area, leaving the plateau. So the flora on top was actually everywhere, before the erosion. It didn't evolve, it survived.
I've been thinking a lot about the nature of climbing, and I've never done it even once. It's easy for me to criticize it from my computer. But it's not just the lure of the summit that would appeal to many climbers; it provides many interesting questions. - Do you trust yourself physically and mentally? - Do you trust the team you're working with, especially if you get in trouble on the mountain? - How much time are you willing to spend chasing your goal? - Does the goal change once you get there? - For me, this is one I'd ask myself: what counts as "climbed?" I'd argue that you say you climbed it, you have to do the whole thing in both directions, not just summit. But that's just me. - Lastly, when do you turn back and when do you make that final push? I can't see myself doing it, and I understand some of the criticism about climbers not helping others. But since I've never done it, who am I to say what's good and what's bad? Everybody climbs their own mountain, so to speak.
I do fathom what you mean, & now there exists an automatic GPS collar that dislodge itself when time is up like 1-2 yrs or so later ( at least 1 yr is needed to get the data on these precious & rare animal ). W/o it, those scholars could not get the knowledge about the life & behavior of these rare & unique feline which only exist at such an inaccessible, inhospitable, & foreboding region ( many of them starve to death depending on weather ). So unless we, humans, give an assistance for the snow leopards ( like placing the food in their particular areas ), there is strong possibility that they'd become extinct. And once they go extinct, it would be permanently disappear from the surface of the earth, & we don't want that to happen. I'm in the hope you'd understand it. Thanks to take time to read my comment.,,,,,(03/15/24)
Tibet's tradition has not remained steadfast as you claim due to the oppressive Chinese colonialism. Tibetans are forced to read, write and speak Chinese and every effort is made to stamp out Tibet language since Xi came to power. Tibetan Nomads are forced to leave their Nomadic life without any prospect for livelihood. In the name of conservation China steals Tibetan Nomadic Land and in the end Chinese come to mine stolen land. With no regards for enviorbment they pollute the water and land consequently affecting the Tibetan flora and fauna around and down stream.
“Only on K2 does a perfect summer day become a deadly day”. Not entirely true. Annapurna actually has a higher rate of fatalities than even the Savage Mountain.
Beautiful 🩵 I am living in Booni within sight of Terich Mir, but am home for a few months in USA. Warms my heart to be reminded of the landscapes I love.
Discovered by who, so you want to tell us there were no people staying there before 1937, the narration is nonsensically false because the impression created is that there were no people living there and if there was why would it be that it was discovered in 1937
Sp mt Everest is the king of all mountain ⛰️ peaks but the k2 is only second place 🥈 only so Mount Everest counts as the highest mountain in the world 🌍
