I've been saying exactly this about Miami Vice for a number of years now, but I have to take issue with one point. I think it was the movie Risky Business that was far more influential in popularizing Wayfarer style sunglasses in the 80s.
Here are the best songs in vice city in my opinion Hall and Oates - Out Of Touch Laura Branigan - Self Control Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran Blondie - Atomic Yes - Owner of A Lonely Heart Bryan Adams - Run To You Electric Light Orchestra - Four Little Diamonds Corey Hart - Sunglasses at Night Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes Twisted Sister - I Wanna Rock Mötely Cure - Too Young to Fall in Love Quiet Riot - Cum On Feel the Noize Autograph - Turn Up The Radio Megadeth - Peace Sells David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose Michael Jackson - Billie Jean Herbie Hancock - Rockit Run D.M.C - Rock Box Foreigner - Waiting For a Girl Like You Roxy Music - More Than This Mr Mister - Broken Wings John Wait - Missing You REOSpeedWagon - Keep On Loving You Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died in Your Arms Toto - Africa Kate Bush - Wow Fat Larry’s Band - Act Like You Know Michael Jackson - Wanna Be Startin Somethin” The Whispers - And The Beats Goes On Kool & The Gang - Summer Madness
I love GTA 5 but I think Vice City was just unique in it's presentation, music and the story also wasn't as goofy or over the top. Like it was a parody but it was still grounded. GTA 5 was just completely over the top in every aspect.
When you realise GTA Vice City is 20 years ago and when it was released, the 80's were 20 years ago back then, time flies and I wished it was the 2000's again tbh
@@VHS_NEON Yeah, I know, time flies, feels so unreal, it feels like not too long ago GTA5 game out tbh, I'd wish to go back around GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA4 or GTA5 release years tbh, those were the days tbh, feels like just yesterday they release their first Independence dlc, also does not feel like GTA5 is 10 years old tbh, also doe not feel that long ago that GTA4 came or out or its 10 year anniversary happened tbh, surprised they did not do something for that tbh, so yeah
I loved the first two movies, the unique trio of taggart, rosewood and axel was so good, also loved Inspector Douglas Todd always being strict and an angry boss.....the 3rd movie was watchable, but felt like there was just too much deus ex machina and cliched moments.
@@ILLRICARDO 100%. The first two are my favorites. They’re fun and the chemistry is great. I don’t know what happened with the 3rd one but it just felt completely wrong and like something was missing. I wouldn’t say it’s an awful movie but it’s nowhere near the level of the first two I’d say.
@@VHS_NEON Yeah, I've tried to replay it several times and struggled greatly with the gameplay. Actually this video was making me consider trying again. The aesthetic will never get old.
@@UndercoverNormie Yeah I think in this case the Definitive edition of vice city is actually the only one that came out without too many issues. I recoded the video on the definitive edition and had zero issues so maybe you should try that one. The gameplay there is a lot more modern and reworked. But I think there are also some mods for the original game that improve the gameplay. But to be fair, I'm on a massive nostalgia trip in this video so I might be too biased 🤣
@@VHS_NEON RU-vid did a damn fine job of talking me out of getting the Trilogy Definitive Edition. So much so, I never ended up checking it out. Like most things RU-vid attacks en masse, I imagine it's not as bad as they say.
@@UndercoverNormie Yeah man the hate is insane but it is justified in many aspects. It was totally a badly done remaster but it wasn't as bad as some people make it out to be. In Vice Cities case I think most agree that it has no issues. Most of those videos focus on San Andreas. I think you should try it and then if you don't like it jist refund it. Or you raise the black flag and go the Jack Sparrow route... 🏴☠
I'd still argue that San Andreas is the peak of the GTA franchise, but the impact of Vice City...You had to be there. GTA3 was a masterpiece and everyone was playing it at the time, but Vice City was something else. We went crazy. The setting, the soundtrack, the humor, the characters...It was incredibile.
@@centocerez I agree. San Andreas is definitely the most well known and peak GTA game. But I think the only reason that’s the case is due to vice city’s success and legacy. I think if Vice city flopped San Andreas might not even have existed.
it was an unbelievable game, when we use to play any games earlier then we had in mind that what if we could go to that area(games were directional) cheatcodes in games, panzer, fannymagnet, it was something from future, it was very famous in India everyone was eager to play that game on their new PCs, those who didn't have PC , goes to cyber cafe to play that game. everyone was talking about that game, that game had monopoly in mind of people
What hyped the game was the lawyer that had a hard on for trying to cancel it. To be honest Vice city is glorified dlc for GTA3. Now San Andreas pushed the PS2 to it's limit
Yeah man I was honestly considering it. I have some older videos where I lean much more heavily into the VHS look but I had to change the style slighly because those videos were always confused by people to be low resolution videos rather than me trying to go for a retro look. Like people were thinking I just made a crappy recording instead of me trying to give it a certain aesthetic. But I'm still experimenting so I might still do some 4:3 vids.
After this one, i never found again the same fun in a GTA game. The soundtrack is top notch, the references to the 80s were perfectly dosed, no " he he look do you remember the...wink wink". for the time the gameplay was almost perfect, i was born in the mid 80s, so i'im more a 90's kid, bur so many things are kinda familiar. The story line is heavily inspired by sscareface, bur a way more tongues in cheeks humor. and to nor ro mentiion the cheat codes known by heart by so many players. just crutsing around the map, while listening to youir fsvortzr stations is a game is a game on its own. "top 3 in my a hall of fame with fav gv gamw w with the firsst dk country on snes and elites best agents.thank you for your work and dose ef nostalgia
Such a nice retro game! If you think about it, the time gap between when Vice City was released and now is actually longer than the time gap between Vice City and its setting. :D
You're right! Damn that's crazy. I honestly wish GTA 6 took place in the 80s or 70s. With modern graphics it could've looked so cool. It's abummer they decided to do a modern setting as I feel like most GTA games take place in the modern day.
Damn that's really cool. It's crazy how popular the game was back then and even today. I honestly can't imagine the insanity that will start when GTA 6 will be released.
Dude it's so funny you say because I was gonna say it had a massive influence on Indian heavy metal community. I used to write for a fan publication called metal Jesus and the founders prithiv, shrivatna, and I forgot the other guys name but all of them credit this game specially with introducing them to iron maiden, anthrax and slayer. At that time the Indian music scene was super small probably around 2011. The publication grew each year culminating if say around 2013 to 2016. They were doing festivals I was doing interviews with international bands. They had organized some of the first metal tours In south east Asia. I dunno what ever happened to those guys but I'm so happy I did that with them. I didn't even get paid all of my work was for access to certain releases.
Well, maybe not experienced them in a literal sense but more so like I experienced their spirit in a way. If that makes sense. I think the soundtrack really left a heavy impression on me and influenced me pretty hard when it comes to my taste in music and aesthetics.
@@VHS_NEON true but one big influence solely from Scarface was the synth music score. Also Scarface may of helped Miami Vice being filmed on location in that the filming of Scarface was driven out of the town of Miami by the Cuban American Comunity that didn’t like how its town and culture were depicted. But by the time of Miami Vice a few years later, they didn’t seem to have that problem with the comunity and actually generated income and gentrification. So I think It might have been like what happened to The Godfather in that Italian Americans first were in fear of it, then were romanticized by the style despite the blood and embrace it.
I seem to be a bit too "chill" in this video. My voice in general is more relaxed and I've been trying to sound louder in my other videos but sometimes I tend to forget this. Still, I hope you guys enjoy this video.
I played the entire Arkham series, and while I enjoyed them all, City was the one I enjoyed my time with it the most, when I first played it. Great video! I liked that you touched on the wintery vibe, it feels more nostalgic for some reason.
Thank you 🙌 Yes I agree. I think all Arkham Games are really good and all of them are definitely time well spent. But City has a certain vibe and magic that the others lack. Yeah honestly playing Arkham city during winter, especially when it’s snowing it’s really cool and atmospheric.
Yes actually. The video was specifially edited in such a way as to look like VHS or retro footage. That's why it's colors are different and why you see black flashes. There's a reason why my channel is called VHS Neon. Although to be fair, my latest video is a bit more VHS like but also has a clearer picture. It took a while to figure out a good mix between it looking vintae but in a way that people would be able to understand what I'm going for rather than think its jist a low quality recording. Which it isn't actually. It's a bit tricky since no one else is doing this in gaming so there are no resources I could take inspiration from or tutorials etc.
I'm in love with this game too I think I've played it through more than a dozen times lol😂 it never gets old rescuing Highwing with Natty 🎉 I think those complaining are those who do not have a vivid imagination and cannot create a world to live in I mean you have everything you need right here in this game. Pick a town move in or live in Hogwarts. Develop your own daily routines. I mean it is a beautiful world, I love walking across the map... I chose Pitt upon Ford as being my "home" and I love to walk down to Irondale because that's where granny Althea lives😂
If I could only have 2 Assassin's Creed games, it would be Odyssey and Mirage...I enjoy Alexios and Basim very much...heck, Basim was the only character I liked in Valhalla 😁 I think you did a well done review 👏 👍 👌 😀
Thank you 🙌 I agree I love Odyssey. Sometimes I wish they would’ve leaned more into the mythological aspect of Ancient Greece. That would’ve been so cool.
A fantastic off-duty job for the real Metro-Dade Police Officers. A soft focus mirror image of when Dade County was actually the murder capital of the U. S.
