We can't critisize the Krushchyovka by nowdays standards. After the war the USSR was in desperate need of building huge quantities of homes after millions were left homeless. There was no time nor resources for more, they did what they could with the means of a destroyed economy. In fact by then the people who came from the countryside that recieved the first ones saw them like a luxury. Every developing country builds those kind of homes during it's early industrialization period, it happened in the UK during the victorian era and in China after Deng's reform.
The problem is that after building these cheap appartment blocks in the 50s and 60s, they literally made no effort to change anything. 90% of following buildings were made in the same way even though at later points the Soviet Union was able to afford better quality living for normal people. The elite was living in much better appartments of course... Not to mention that most of these buildings started and are still crumbling and falling appart and there was almost no maintenance done on them. My gandma used to live in one of them and it was not a pleasant place.

@@VHS_NEON, these buildings were and are still infinitely better than to live in your car or under the bridge, as millions in the USA are forced to do, many with several jobs, whereas the bourgeoisie lives in palaces you NEVER would have found in the USSR. But crying about the horrors of the Soviet Union at Uncle Sam's Imperialism Fun Fair seems to get paid well.
@@lorsheckmolseh3345 nah. They were low quality garbage buildings build for the masses because the state was stealing money. They didn't want to build good housing because why should they? Ironically, all the politicians and military members of course had far better housing. Get out of here with your commie nonsese. The Soviet Union was a pos state and luckily its gone, although unfortunatley replaced by another corrupt dicktatorship. Nothing wrong with the bourgeoisie. I'd rather be part of the bourgeoisie then some low life thinking he's owed everything like the common neckbeard communist.
