you cut out the best part: The audience turns on him a little (you cna hear it for a split second here), and then he goes "GROW UP!!" and everyone starts laughing.
Well this definitely applies and even better application for this would have been The Sniderverse. (I'm not a fan of either 'verse btw outside of a few characters from each.)
I will agree that the MCU isn't "real cinema" or whatever people want to say, but I still liked it before it dropped off after Endgame. I once heard it described like this: Watching Marvel and being told you should watch a real movie is like saying you're going out to get ice cream and your friend says "Hey, steak is way better than ice cream! You should go to this fancy steak place instead!" You agree that steak is really good, but you're not looking to get a steak right now. You're going to go get ice cream. You know it's nothing special, but it's just what you want right now.
In its whole perhaps but here are some good movies that have actually interesting and compelling stories like the first iron man, the guardians movies, captain America winter soldier and a few others.
As a Marvel fan, I can admit that this is mostly true, although to be fair, some of the movies from the Infinity Saga are pretty good though. Most of the origin story solo movies are pretty good, especially the earlier ones that felt like they had more soul. I'm talking mainly about Iron Man 1 and Captain America 1. Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 are also pretty good. I haven't seen it, but I've also only heard good things about Shang Chi. So I would argue that there are some islands of high quality amidst a sea of mediocrity. But I will also admit that after Avengers: Endgame, things generally seemed to have gone pretty badly downhill in terms of quality.
I enjoy the MCU has a "shut off my brain and just enjoy the spectacle" but wow a part of me dies when I see Marvel fanboys say these flims where snubbed for an Oscar
You can trash the gods, I don't care about them. You can sling insults about whatever stupid sports team you want. But nobody...insults the MCU in my presence 😤
America is doing that thing we do every 10 years where we have to hate the thing that we really liked the previous 10 years only for 10 more years to pass and remember how much we really liked that thing. It happened to the Spice Girls, The Backstreet Boys and the New Kids on the Block, Disco, 80's Nostalgia in general which is now turning into 90's Nostalgia and within the next 5'ish years we're on schedule to have Early 2000's Nostalgia and the list goes on and on and on... It's tiresome.
I mean, the MCU is full of substance-less trash. But it also has some great movies full of substance. It’s always more complicated than blanket statements.
