I had them for the first time last week. Been sitting in the freezer for several weeks because I couldn't use the oven, but when I could finally use the oven again, I saw on the package that I could use the microwave to bake them.
Jesus was killed because he was the symbol challenging the existing power structure with another power structure. For some reason I don't believe someone who claims to walk on water or magically heal permanent disabilities speaks the "truth". His cult of personality just happened to survive after his death.
@@Viking_Luchador Teachings took over an entire continent and eventually spread all over the world even without the internet, inspired wars, tales, legends, and world empires and currently have billions of worshippers 2000 years later after his death whilst not being real (which is heavily debatable and only believed by some pathetically unpopular historians). Not even the whole MCU 2000 years in the future could match against the big J.
The fact that you were offended at all makes me think you cried during endgame. No shame in crying of course!! Just never ending shame if it was during an MCU movie that isn’t Iron Man 1 where the blacksmith dude died. That was tragic. But that also wasn’t really the MCU. God I regret ever watching literally any MCU movie. Taika Watiti is the only saving grace of the last 15 years of marvel. He should get out quick though tbh he has so many better things to do…anyway don’t want to insult the multibillion dollar empire too much lest they get their feelings hurt
Next he'll be saying McDonald's isn't good food, and watching Netflix for 15 hours is not exercise! I would start a protest march...but that sounds like hard work. I think I'll take a nap. This outrage has worn me out.
The marvel universe is like whipped cream on top of hot water. Once you immediately melt all the fluff all you’re left with is vaguely foamy sugar water. It goes down easy but will you have it again? Probably not.
MCU is like the show friends. Its really popular and incredbly entertaining but has no deeper meaning than some action (in the case of MCU) and jokes. Theyre great movies to watch everyonce in a while when you simply want to be entertained not have a mindblowing brain teaser with lots of twists and turns in the script
Friends is was better at this tho. It's much more piecemeal and approachable, meaning you can easily watch it with other people. It's also always chill, low stakes and can be pretty funny sometimes.
@@Klemeron And thats not the case with the MCU? you can watch any show or movie of them and you would only miss out on some minor details regarding earlier movies. I didnt start at the first iron man movie i think i watched the 3rd one first and still completely understood everything that was going on in the movie
Based on this explanation that I completely agree with 100%, I would say that makes the MCU quite a success. Very few things are entertaining to even look at anymore, and at least it has that. 🤷
Really the only two movies I think are spectacular enough to actually discuss with friends about direction and writing are Infinity War and No Way Home.
I have seen more hours this month of John Oliver than marvel movies I have seen. To each their own; I choose John, and John makes a show that chooses us back. Thanks, John!
I wish I liked him as much as I used to. He is so entertaining. Ever sence I learned what strawmanning is most of his stories disgust me the way he approches them. Makes me sad in a way. I really enjoyed him at one time. Even when I agree with him his tactics turn me away.
There’s a difference between a straw man argument and mockery and comedy. He’s not trying to make a factual argument. He’s trying 1. To be entertaining and 2. To make you think about and be aware of serious issues.
@@merlin4real I've known what straw manning is for over 15 years and that's not what's happening. Not every attempt to represent an opposing argument is a straw man. In fact, John Oliver's dives into a topic are one of the most extensive and comprehensive that you'll find *on TV*. Obviously there are documentaries, academics, research projects, journalists, books, and much more that are the primary references John Oliver uses to make his points, but at least he references such material. Most other people on TV who do what John Oliver does, even news like CNN, usually just uses headlines and talking points from half-baked articles that barely scratch the surface of the subject matter.
@@marcocassone5996 ha yeah thats exactly what it is. Opponent makes an arguement, John clowns on them and tried to make them look silly, makes a weaker version of what they said, and attacks that. Not straw manning would be opponent makes an argument, John highlights the arguments merits and then adds to it if possable to make it as strong as he possably can, never attacking the person or aanything, and then attack it.
as somebody who has the mcu as a special interest, and enjoy thinking about it so much that i have caused several introjects to form just from that, i too can attest that the movies are kinda horrible lol at least we have fanfiction i guess
@@jurecufar8903 actually i'm having a hard time figuring out what john's point is it seems to me people will only understand a vague statement as "has no substance" when they already agree with it
I'm a lifelong comic fan but I get his point. There's nothing about the characters or themes of the MCU that require CGI magic men slamming into each other at high velocity. That's just how America likes to express its mythology - Loud, colorful, over-the-top, gigantic scale, a simplistic early-20th century narrative replaced by darker considerations in more recent decades...
Comic fan is great. Lets talk specifically about the regurgitation of the same comic book over and over and over. Spiderman 10, 3rd actor, batman 48, 17th actor, it's just the same old thing over and over. Constantine was a comic book, too. Why can't we get more like that? Deadpool was at least an interesting and fun take on the same genre. Different than the man in the blue suit, black suit, red suit or iron suit........please. People always respond by saying some version of 'Well, they make hundreds of millions of dollars, so they must be good". No, they are popular, there is a difference. They keep making Justin Bieber albums because people buy them as well. But are they good?
Honestly the best burn he ever had was over tucker Carlson’s “sad middle aged single man” over the Swanson dinner fortune “for the love of the game” That shit sent me
Just watched Doctor Strange 2. The most interesting thing about it was something that will be lost on people who view it some time in the future, the fact that it was released on Mother's Day weekend.
I mean it's one of the only stories I can think of where a mother's love for her children is the thing that's going to doom us all. Usually that's framed as a positive.
I mean, the MCU is full of substance-less trash. But it also has some great movies full of substance. It’s always more complicated than blanket statements.
As someone who is a massive MCU fan, I am not that surprised by the comment. While I would argue some legitimately do try to be more than just a fun action film more than others, there’s several beats we have grown accustomed to and as a brand, the MCU has become this massive empire that it is easy to poke fun at. (Granted I would argue that it’s partially because films that come out along with it aren’t given the promotion they need or just pale in comparison but details).
Pretty sure nobody watches MCU movies because they are under the impression that the movies are bringing up deep and meaningful thought-provoking philosophical views.
@@rohitr9400 considering that was just kind of shouted out to the internet I just did. In all seriousness they probably do deserve to win some degree of awards or nominations. Maybe not for their writing but a movie that has lackluster writing can still have killer effects at the very least.
But what would you watch them for tho?? 🤨 they're so terrible. They're not cool, they're not funny, the dialogue and characters are corny and stiff except for Ironman, the plots are tired...
i saw endgame twice and all i really remember is: * mouse * "i see this as an absolute win" * scarlett johansson is hot * tilda swinton is also kinda hot in a weird way * "i don't even know who you are" yeah me neither mate
no, the no substance is better. They are not mediocre action shows - they have good actors, quips and actions and special effects. It just that they lead to no deeper thoughts - they are not challenging anything. They are just dumb fun. Like Fast and Furious series - they are just fun, they don't have to be deep or meaningful or have a well developed message.
In its whole perhaps but here are some good movies that have actually interesting and compelling stories like the first iron man, the guardians movies, captain America winter soldier and a few others.
America is doing that thing we do every 10 years where we have to hate the thing that we really liked the previous 10 years only for 10 more years to pass and remember how much we really liked that thing. It happened to the Spice Girls, The Backstreet Boys and the New Kids on the Block, Disco, 80's Nostalgia in general which is now turning into 90's Nostalgia and within the next 5'ish years we're on schedule to have Early 2000's Nostalgia and the list goes on and on and on... It's tiresome.
@@sideshowbob And they are Batman, Spiderman, and goddamn Superman. Who honestly make more money than James Bond and Godzilla if we count media outside of movies. Superman is the best selling comic book of all times for crying outloud. So if people can accept the 76th James Bond Actor, why can't they accept a 3rd Spiderman or a 5th Batman?
