I feel for you, man! The Presi Traverse is a bear. I am below average speed but have good endurance and I tried to do in in 1 day, knowing it would take me about 18 hours. I started at Appalachia and was past Monroe by dusk when my headlamp malfunctioned and I decided to hike back over Monroe to LOTC Hut. Just then dense fog came in and I had to use my iPhone as a flashlight, and was barely able to see the next cairn. Somewhat nerve-wrecking and I was lucky the croo let me sleep on the floor. Day 2 was much easier since it is mostly downhill, but I skipped Webster (which is not a president), which would not be fun on descent. 10 ain't bad... For anyone wanting to do it in 2 days, I would recommend using LOTC Hut as the overnight. I think it breaks up the workload better.
so you started off by saying you tried to get better alternatives to the Tesla model Y How are any of those cars you showed better than a Tesla - you are not making sense
Great trip. I've driven across from coast to coast 4 times and much of the route you took I've been on. I also use to travel for work and driven around much of the midwest and northeast. I've driven Manhattan and the Holland Tunnel and New Jersey Turnpike. Hated Pennsylvania highways, worst I've ever been on. Anyway. You did it in 2 days. I took 5 each way every time. Most I ever did in one stretch was Sparta, Wisconsin to Spearfish, SD in 12 hours, 700 miles. Makes me want to go for a cross country drive again but this time take time to look around. Thanks.
Ah thanks for clarifying... I just made the assumption after seeing a bunch of dark, winged things making a racket and didn't think birds would be that active at that hour.
WoW, that was some trip down memory lane. I used to live across the street from Ashbury Assisted Living and actually did some UBER driving with Lake Forest Mall as my Operations Center. I would park under the tree on the "bad side" and wait in the food court for pings for my early morning rides. Their was also a time that I worked at Macy's and I could get from my house to the check-in register in around 5 minutes. I remember the Starbucks in the center court and having Easter Pictures taken with my wife their with a friend who was the "bunny" that year. The list of shops I remember are too long to list, but I feel the greatest sadness for the guys at SEARS Automotive that used to work on my car. I retired to Northeastern Brazil at least a year ago, so I missed the final days. Thanx for the memories.😎
If I do this again, I'll definitely use a radar detector... I think higher speeds than what I did are necessary to get the record. I heard of Waze but never used it... I also wasn't aware there were low-flying planes - one more thing to worry about I guess!
@@antyant waze is the best thing since sliced bread, as all the speeding truckers tell each other when there’s a cop. Low flying planes are real for tickets. That’s how they overcome waze and radars. But with a free app you can see them way ahead, as they cannot be incognito. They have to have the transponder on.
My wife and I probably have beaten anyone. Traded in my employee Macan and got a standard range plus model 3, then drove from redondo beach (5 min from Portofino) to New Hampshire, and back. Lots and lots and lots of charging. Would not recommend a standard or even a model 3 or Y. Maybe a model S with the smaller wheels for a trip like this.
yeah, sorry i wanted to use more dashcam footage and less gopro, but i had technical issues with the dashcam and had to just work with what was available
lol I thought the same the first time I saw those red lights. I’ve taken route a few times but in a 18wheeler can’t wait to do it in a Tesla or Ioniq soon
So I'm just starting this video and already i am heartbroken, many of us who lived in such times will always have bittersweet memories of a mall we once frequented. I am totally loving the presenter's vibe in this video, thank you so much for taking us on a trip down memory lane. 🙌🏽🙂
This is one of the first places I found when I moved to gaithersburg. I lived about a mile away & would go here often. I was there last February & it was sad to see what it had turned into. When I lived there, it was a busy place. Went to red Robin several times, lord & Taylor, & found some Armani attitude at Macy's. Definitely some good memories here.
Very sad that all of our malls have closed 😢I would much rather take my family out and go shop especially around Christmas. I know it's easier to sit at home and order but where is the fun in it? Really no reason to go out anymore you can work from home order food and groceries from home and it's just a world now where everything is at the touch of a button. I personally miss going out to the mall and just getting out with friends and family...
I remember my brother and I watching the Village People perform live in the that big center section by the escalator. They built a mini stage for them over the water to perform. I also remember making the rounds at Sears or JC Penney in hopes they had video games you could “try out” before buying. Sometimes you get lucky and the employee didn’t care and we would play for hours.
Just like in the tin you got more irritable and disgruntled as the hike wore on. But the best hikes are the ones where you are the happiest to see the parking lot at the end. 😂
Truly sad to see how far the economies crashed and the fact that well MOST kids today will never know the fun of hanging out at the mall like we did when young. This is also why there is a Huge lack of Socialization skills among our youth anymore. What few malls are left are dropping like flies also,
