I heard someplace that the arthritis was just a gimmick Gene & Paul came up with to protect St John. The real reason was he had a “ very bad drug problem and he couldn’t clean up”.

Paul Stanley's take on this is that Eric was jealous, insecure and wanted to be the drummer on the tour. Even in death, Stanley has to have the last word over him,

I was privileged to have spent some time with Mark St. John. We were neighbors in Garden Grove California where he lived down the road from Gary Street. A great personality but at the time, we were into the nitty gritty (If you know what I mean). I remember seeing him in his garage grinding away on his guitars which led to me giving him a grinder which he needed, (Sorry Dad, Mark St. John needed it [White Lion, Kiss!]). I remember one night we got pretty wired and we climbed a gated apartment building and took a dip in the facility's jacuzzi. With excitement rushing through us as we scaled the gates, and then eased in the jacuzzi, I enquired what was it like to have played with Kiss. He responded with "how would you like to be around a bunch of New Yorkers" as we laughed intently. On another occasion, we were hanging out in his garage where guitars and shiny albums were crowded onto his garage walls. I was awe struck at this Kramer electric guitar that I couldn't keep my eyes off and asked if I could take it down from its pedestal. As a gentle giant that Mark was, he concurred and plug it into an amplifier, and I started jamming. I was crazy about this electric Kramer which played like a jewel. I played a rift I had created in the years that I had played guitar and he asked me to play it again. To my astonishment, Mark admired my rift asked me to forge on and to finish the song. Till this day, I haven't completed it. As I was chomping away on the guitar, Mark handed me a guitar magazine. He swiped through the pages and stopped on a page where Eddie Van Halen was holding the same guitar I held in my hand. He looked at me smiled and went on doing what he was doing. Apparently, all the famed rockers knew Mark and partied hard with him. From the likes of Motley Crue to Van Halen that came over to bark at the moon till dawn. I know he had regrets and I'm sure he would have done more and accomplished many feats if it wasn't for the arthritis. It was a pleasure to make you acquaintance Mark St. John. God bless and I know you are jamming on the other side. Btw.......KNAC rocks!!!

I don't know who put these videos together, but l enjoy listening to the old interviews with Eric, he was amazing. My only criticism is, I'm trying to read all the banners, but at the end you're putting up a couple of tabs for more videos right on top of the last banner. STOP IT! Let the last banner show for a few seconds putting the tabs up. Other than that, great videos to watch and very informative, we get to hear about events we might never have known about.

Saw Paul in Wilkes Barre, PA on this tour. Warrant was supposed to open up for him but everything was running late so they never got to play. Jani Lane apologized to the crowd and then Paul came on. Loved hearing his '78 solo stuff live.

I saw that tour @ the Cincinnati Gardens. Ironically the band Little Caesar was the band who played before Slaughter. Little Caesar sucked. Slaughter sounded like..>Well....Slaughter. KISS sounded Great. Eric didnt seem into it at all and there was no Drum Solo or guitar solo. I was bummed. Not even half of the venue was filled. By mid show they let everyone on the floor. After that the venue looked completely empty. There were zero people in the seats. Rightly so i guess. Hot in the shade SUCKED.

Who cares!? I was always blown away by how insecure some rockstars were. They were accepted and loved in their original bands! Why do any of the solo bs? Unless of course none of your writing ever made the albums. But if it did, why make solo albums. All those solo albums just sounded like Kiss b-sides anyways.

Sadly Eric was naïve. Paul didn't do that tour to see if he could go on without KISS. Paul did not give up on KISS and never has. He wanted Eric Carr gone. They couldn't stand each other and Paul never wanted to go on the road or record with Eric again. They did not say one word to each other on the Hot in the shade tour, and Paul certainly wasn't about to go back into the studio with him. They didn't even speak at the God Gave Rock and Roll to you video shoot. Paul did that solo tour to break Eric Singer in. There is a reason they played nothing but KISS songs. He already knew Singer was going to replace Carr and so did Gene. By the time that tour was over most KISS fans knew who Eric Singer was and knew what a monster drummer he was. I feel bad for Eric Carr. He was side blinded and deceived by Gene as well. His remarks saying that Gene said this too or thought this too.. made my heart sink. Gene was just going along with it and agreeing with Eric. Gene knew what was going on and was totally in on it. There is no way Gene Simmons didn't know what was going on.

Vinne tript on his own feet. He had the talent and the technical skills but he was not a team player and he had great difficulties i knowing when to play and when not to. If he had put more attention on what was needed in the songs regarding leads instead of trying to be the fastest gun slinger around it would have worked out much better.
