I am the Rev. Dr. Charles Scot Giles (call me Scot), a Board Certified Diplomate of the National Guild of Hypnotists, a Unitarian Universalist Community Minister and a Board Certified Chaplain. My practice is a specialty practice of medical hypnotism and I am especially well known for my work with people living with cancer.
I run a busy solo practice in medical hypnotism. My video content is literally "A Hypnotist in his Car," as that is the only way I have time to make short videos about Mind-Body interaction, emotional regulation, health and well-being. As I have clinics all over Chicagoland, using a windshield mounted camera I can easily make the videos. Otherwise, I'm seeing clients or writing.

Wise words. WE have too much knowledge for the lowly amount of wisdom we mostly possess. Hey, I do miss view of your old home decor, medieval chair and painting!
I think, your examples are still a form of virtue signaling instead of vice signaling. By calling herself a weapon owner, Harris gives a signal that she doesn't belong to the "delusional far left that thinks no one should be able to defend themselves", playing into the virtue of moderate Republicans, centrists, and probably quite a few Democrats as well. The cat on the shoulder says: "I'm not just a dumb, cold, hard jerk - I have feelings. I like animals, so I probably like children - I might even be a good father and a caring husband." You having cool interests and hobbies (what else is martial arts or weapons as long as you're not harming anyone?) paints you as a minister who isn't a hypocrite, isn't stuck up, isn't boring - but overall a reasonable, sociable man, who doesn't need to put on a sappy facade. That's virtue redefined.
Scot, once again you've hit the ball out of the park! I am not a fan of virtue-signaling or political correctness. I detest when woke organizations (yes, I occasionally visit one to see some old friends, but am not a member of it) try to force their own values on me. Particularly annoying to me is all the pronoun-shaming that goes on. There, one isn't cool or part of the in-club unless they write their pronouns on their name badge. If I'm pressed to state my pronouns, I pay homage to the movie "The Treasure Of Sierra Madre" and reply "Pronouns? We ain't got no pronouns. We don't need no pronouns. I don't have to show you any stinkin' pronouns!". Of course during the annual fund raising drive, you could always substitute the word "pledges" for "pronouns" in that quote🤣🤣😂.
Great points! 30 yrs in IT, I've developed this insight, and approach.. I am glad to hear others identify these skills, and understand the effects when wielded correctly, I shape events.. and am now a program/project manager/Scrum Master. I endorse others, framing some incredible solutions, changing mindsets with either a chisel, or a sledge.. a more critical but respectful sardonic approach.
Hi Charles, i am a Coué practitioner, I show people how to be pain-free within 3 minutes. Coué invented this and I refined it. It's wide awake hypnosis and it almost always works. Thanks für your vieo!
What is "American Culture" ? 1850's frontier ? 1780's revolutionary ? 1960's Counter Culture ? 1910's Give moma the Vote ? 1880's Universal Suffrage for Men ? 1990's Consumerism explosion of cheep Chinese stuff ? 2020's Massive fentanyl epidemic ? For whom ? Trail of tears - Indian tribes ? 8yo Irish coal miners ? (Orphan Powder Monkeys in silver mines) Chinese railroad labor ? Japanese internment ? Cambodian war refugees ? (A close friend escaped Khmer Rouge at 6yo and is a very successful small business owner) Korean war refugees ? African war refugees ? Mass immigration from India ? Mass immigration from South America ? Mass immigration from Ukraine ? Depending on time, demographic etc... Many people have been hurt, many have done extremely well.
As you well know, my background in meditation research stared in 1968 with my starting Kodokan Judo. Being autodidactic, I was able to acquire most of what I know about meditation (All forms) over the decades and I am always open to new sources including the one you presented here. Thanks for that. The information you presented here is a great starting point for anyone interested in meditation. At 71 years old I no longer do meditation seminars/classes at any level, I am just going deeper into what I am interested in, usually in relation to hypnosis (which I was pushed to look into by a number of advanced degree psychologists and psychiatrists). I have been asked to do a series of basic recordings that include what I have learned over the years but I have not come to a conclusion about that as of this time. There are clearly stages/levels to training in meditation and I lack the formal documentation of a study, since I never intended to publish anyway (I assumed that there would be other people that would do that). Even in the late 1960's meditation was viewed as "That tie-dyed thing that leads to drugs"(1968), or "We do not do religious practices in a civil park district facility (2000, by the head of the city park district holding a doctorate in outdoor education.), neither of which is true, I just choose not to participate in their ignorance. In any event, well done and good advice, Scot. I will check out "Core Teachings of Buddha" at my library or the nearest book store.
I just started to listen to this, .......( it's all in the food we eat ): “Let Food Be Thy Medicine and Medicine Be Thy Food.”....... Hippocrates...Ok, I listened to this (stress).... I do agree....but it is also food. Interesting fact about the sharecropper having a better work-life balance. I worked for a company where overtime was mandatory and expected, I worked odd long hours, and the pressure of getting things done on time was off the chart. All of these factors, I believe, contributed to the health issues I have now.
I rather call this… an attempt to sell some “lesser magic”, but it won’t work for me 🤨…. Just stick to the basics instead of babbling a lot of fake chitchat. And… beware of ceremonial magic. (with sardonic wrathful laughter). Try to beat me, crook. For I’m born in a different way. With a different perspective than yours. HS! 😂😅🎉….. 🖕🏼😆🫡!
Alright Scot, this is the first time I have to disagree with you when you say "I'm basically a boring person". I think you're anything but boring given the breadth and depth of your knowledge, experiences and lifetime achievements! Regardless, I'm a person who loves giving voluntary restaurant and business reviews on Google, my motivation for doing so is doing something "for the public good". I think my opinions have value and people should know when to patronize a great place and when to avoid a sucky place. My favorite "Media Influencer" is Dylan Mulvaney who created a video showing his Audrey Hepburn styled likeness on a can of Bud Light beer. This video boomeranged back on him and his sponsor Anheuser Busch by creating a very costly 2023 boycott of this beer brand. Even Kid Rock created a video of himself shooting 3 cases of Bud Light with an MP5 submachine gun for dramatic and foamy purposes...all in good fun😀!!! A year later, sales of Bud Light are finally returning to "Pre-Dylan" boycott days and one needs to wonder what other future marketing disasters Anheuser Busch will create for itself.
Thanks for your perspective and your respectful tone. If your advice is to examine the beliefs you were handed I'm all in. If something is true it should not need an authority to enforce it with threats of an unfavorable afterlife and ostracization from your family and community. I am glad to see these strategies lose their effectiveness.
Define "spiritual." Is that feeling some kind of way, because we in 2024 call that emotions. Is it thinking certain things? Because we call that cognition. Are you referring to human self-awareness and self-reflection? Because we call that human consciousness. Nobody needs a weekly book club to be a decent person who contributes to human flourishing. And you don't need Sheilaism or any other ism to do that, as well. Feudal hierarchies and tribalism are DEAD. Try becoming simply a member of humanity instead.
Scot I listen to this twice and I really enjoyed it. I have a hard time doing a journal kind of a mental block I think. Both been thinking about you call we can do some hypnosis some point in time soon. Your friend, Bob Limosani
This reminded me of my early days in computers when I was working for a bank and I was asked to help out the FDIC Auditors. They had a lot of knowledge on the "scam" subject and liked how I could "Think like them" to critically assess the validity of any given issue, and thus see through the scams. As the auditors all said, "Audit is a good thing. Audit everything," which I find interesting in light of everything that Trump is posting counter to that view. Find what you can trust and filter out the rest.
this video was really insightful thankyou:) ive been deliberating over keeping a journal for a while now as im having a slightly difficult time mentally dealing with all my thoughts. but ive had bad experiences in the past with keeping journals and i am afraid of committing my thoughts to paper and word. do you think you have any tips? i would rather have a physical journal than a digital one as it feels more fulfilling that way. do you think this is a case of just doing something and it will get easier with time? thankyou ❣️
Have you seen twin peaks? Its lovecraftian and has a "shared dream world" called the "Red Room". Never made that connection until now. It also has things similar with the dunwhich horror ie the monster "smelling of thunder". You might enjoy if you havent. Tons of spirituality can be found throughout. Great video, id enjoy your take on twin peaks in a video. Might do well too.
This is positive validation for me so thanks for this. I have stumbled into a state of positive vibrational resonance through a number of experiments around meditation and hypnotic techniques that I developed back in college. In those college years I would go out once a week and shoot 600 arrows in groups of six. While the first three years I focused on technical skill, the last year I focused on what I had learned in Zen and Archery. This parallels Zen Archery where the release point is more intuitive than it is technical skill. I had bought 20 arrows at the beginning of my freshman year and I had most of them until I neared the end of my Senior year where near the end of the year I ended up destroying the knock points of 5 arrows. This was validation that I had learned the technique of Zen Archery. This validates a good portion of what I had learned. All of us have different path that can lead to the same or similar result.
You have been of immense help. These talks are so encouraging, and I think this is one of the most important ones. It is worth listening to again and again, as I make my action plan.
Really good reminders. Love the part about martial arts. And also the spiritual practice part, you exorcise one of the lingering fears that one is not good enough to even try.
