My name is Lloyd. I am a thirty plus year master mechanic and a brand new Polaris SlingShot owner. I have rode motorcycles for most of my life. This page will be to help show the average Polaris SlingShot owner how to make simple repairs and upgrades to their SS. I will be making videos of performance upgrades as well as user add ons. I will review each component as installed on the SS to help viewers with knowing and understanding what they are purchasing and installing and using.
In the market now for the roof you have. Do you have any pros and cons that would be helpful to know now that you have had the twisted dynamics gull wing roof for awhile? I have a 2016 LS LE
Thx for the walk around. I have one on order. FYI, it’s “Twist Dynamics” not Twisted. I mentioned to them about lack of brand recognition and they say they have a plan. I ordered a lime squeeze version so I love matching my bike.
you forgot the part about difficulties for fat old men, but i got r done. i had to cut 3 tie downs, i just could not get it to go inside the wiring conduit. i had an after market horn from slingmods secured on the left side which got in the way. for now i have moved that one from the left side to the hose tie down location and that seems work. i actually broke a sweat. thanks for your help.
I have the same SS and considering a roof and this looks like it will be my choice. Do you feel there is any warpage? Also where did you find the rim accents at?
I bought my 2020 R at the beginning of December. Love it. I've been on motorcycles since 1973. It was beginning to be a chore to throw my leg over my ultra glide..I did make it easy for my family to get Christmas gifts for me this year. I have used my bike to travel for my youtube channel. Going sling
You right about the cold air intake system but if you get a exhaust system wow what a different on the slingshot I did those 2 mods it's money well spent
If you made a follow-up video, I have not seen it. It has been awhile since you made the install video and a follow-up video is almost a necessity. It is understood there will be some sort of performance improvement but at what cost……. Fuel economy increase/decrease, dead spots when accelerating, popping during decelleration and so on. Let us know….
He should always wears a helmets before driving a slingshot bike by preventing yourself by getting a big bad accident can happened to you without safety law……..it’s the law you must wears a helmets always……….
A helmet is always a great idea. In Florida it is not a law. Motorcyclists are not required to wear a helmet. Driving the Slingshot is no exception. I feel safe without it and try to drive with caution.
A couple of comments on your video, not trolling……. but why did you publish the video 90° from normal? Another thing is: when doing your intro/out-tro you always hold your camera to low and the view is right up your nose. Grab a selfie stick and hold the camera level with your face. Finally, inject a little enthusiasm in your voice, everything sounds sort of ho-hum when you speak. The content is good/informative, but if you’re going to do Slingshot videos….. do better in your videography and monologues.
I can appreciate your comment. To be honest I am just learning. I hold the camera out with my right hand lol sooo it seems to grab that side. I learned that turning my phone on it's side, even though in landscape mode looks better, it published it in portrait. Lesson learned on that. At the end of the day I just wanted to put a few things out there to help anyone searching for basic information on these machines and offer up any help or thoughts I had.
It has been 6 months since you bought the cell phone mirror holder. How do you like it? Are there any problems? I want to put a rearview mirror on my Slingshot and this looks like the way to go.
I have no complaints. The holder works great. The mirror has a slight blind spot but being able to see around the rear fin is very helpful. Definitely recommend
I wouldn't do rear wind deflector, that's gotta hurt your gas mileage , maybe even add more noise...... I hate when people take something cool and make it look "TACKY" A.F.
I have a relatively cheap hydraulic stabilizer called the GravGrip, I wonder if it would help with the shakiness. Beautiful countryside. Rear view mounted on center post?
Did you run into any static issues when the engine is running? In the process of installing a Boss soundbar in my 2019 S. When the motor is running I get the buzz. Have some Ferrite beads on order that will hopefully nip it. Somewhat regretting the soundbar vs normal audio system, but it looks like I'll be in a total of under $500 for the soundbar and everything I needed to squeeze it into my Twist Dynamics Gull Wing top.
Yeah the wheels definitely needed that small touch. I was not interested in spending big money on wheels and tires. At least not at this point. What year is yours? What upgrades?
